I was completely catfished by this motel. You have to pay in full before you can see the room. Lobby smelled of cooking spices and elevator smelled of cigarettes. The room was a BIOHAZARD and UNINHABITABLE. I've stayed in some questionable places, and this was by far the worst. The linens were paper thin and had urine stains, blood stains, and multiple hairs. Ok, well I'll just take a shower in the morning and get clean. Oh sorry, the shower head was completely rusted over, the tub did not drain, and you get to stand in dirt and hair and other people soup around your ankles while you shower in rust. There was a badly patched hole in the floor. Severe water damage. General wear and tear. Everything was dirty, dusty, and filthy. I asked management to unclog my tub, clean the shower, and get linens. They did none of these things. Expedia called the hotel and the best they could do was remove the stopper from the clogged tub. Management refused to give me my money back. Expedia gave like a 50 dollar voucher. I checked out and slept in my car. This place has decent reviews on multiple platforms. Now I highly suspect that these reviews were paid for. I beg, you. DON'T stay here. And if you pay at check in you will not get a refund from the motel. You have been warned. P.S. We had a reservation for Saturday night because we were going to a concert. On Friday I receive this shady text (attached). I called and confirmed my reservation was still there. We drive up to LA and speak with the girl at the front desk. I showed her my Expedia reservation and she says she does not see my reservation. So which is it? I used to go to Sakura all the time for my "Staycation". I went there the other day to check in and the first thing that hit me was this horrible overwhelming smell of curry. Not the clean smell like every other year. The people behind the counter were Indian (previous owner Japanese) Tee smell was disgusting. I asked when did they buy the motel and apparently it was a year ago. I was so bummed. It used to be my happy place. It was so clean, simple and the owners were fantastic. They don't have a website, but when I phoned them, Caren answered, took my reservation, and noted my room request (top floor). She was very friendly, and the price was as good or better than all online sources that I could find. The friendliness continued throughout our stay last month, from check-in with Alex, to occasional chance encounters in the parking lot. Very, very friendly people here! Our room was clearly remodeled in the last few years, and was super nice for a budget motel. I did find the mattress too soft for my liking, but it was fine for my husband. The little fridge was quiet, unlike the heater, which seems to be standard in so many motel rooms (solution: just warm up the room a bit before going to sleep, and shut the heater off). The shower was very nice, with a fancy dual showerhead with high water pressure, and there was always hot water. There's a powerful hair dryer, an ironing board, and iron. The only things I can think of that would have increased the "perfect" factor for me (besides noise proofing the room from road noise, which is probably impossible): I wish there were 2 chairs for the small table (for eating breakfast at), and a "real" towel bar or two. (The metal hanger unit near the bathroom sink doubles as a towel bar, but one in the actual bathroom would also be nice.) I don't know when/if I'll be staying in the Glendale area again, but if I do, you can bet I'll be staying here! It's a superb budget motel. read more

I guess they assume coffee drinkers will just carry their own which I would have if I had known that they were unlike every other hotel I have stayed in all of which give you a small supply of coffee. On August 29, 2025, I came across this property while I was looking for a hotel. I had never stayed here before, so I called and began to ask the lady, Petra, all of the important questions, how much is the deposit, how much is parking, etc. Finally, I attempted to ask her what the nearest cross streets were. At first, she did not seem to understand, the 2nd time I asked, I said something like the two main streets near the hotel. She said I don't know. I then said it a different way, thinking that might help. But, it did not. She replied with the address and said, You can check it on Google. I said, "I just wanted to get an idea where exactly the place was located." She then said, there are customers here with a not so courteous, short tone. I was planning to try the place out tonight but, after that experience, it is a hard pass for me. If you do not want to answer customer's questions and be polite, customer service oriented, professional, and helpful, then maybe you should find a job more suitable for your personality and skill set. read more

So, I really wanted to give this establishment a 4-Star rating at least but the customer service was not good. When we arrived I was concerned about how the rooms would actually be because from the outside this establishment doesn't ooze confidence. I read some reviews that new ownership took over this year and that may have contributed to some of the problems we ran into when we checked in. The young lady at the desk struggled to find the 3rd party reservation my wife made and even asked my wife did she actually reserve a room at this establishment. I was absolutely floored by that question. When she did finally find it we only received one room key which didn't work initially so we had to get a new one. There are instructions on the lobby glass on how to access the WIFI and how to use the tub/shower however we didn't have that kind of tub/shower in our room because it looks like it has been renovated. Speaking of the room, this is the reason I actually gave this establishment 3-stars. The room had a rain room shower that was pretty good but the water drained very slowly so we were worried it would overflow. Everything else in the room was awesome though. The bed was wonderful, the TV was the largest I have ever seen in a hotel or motel room, and the hardwood floors were a delight. We were in room 106 near the elevator, Ice machine, and outdoor public patio area. I have to say if it was a weekend day I would have asked for another room because it probably gets noisy but since it was a week day we kept the room. So, in conclusion while the room was awesome and the location near being near shopping, restaurants, and entertainment I wouldn't stay here again unless necessary. It's really the front staff that gets the 5 stars. This is one of those updated motels into more of a boutique situation. So a fancy motel. Nice bed. Gated parking at night. Lots of on sight amenities. But the front is incredibly accommodating , they are why I came here twice in one week during construction at my apt. Unfortunately this gem of a motel was sold to new owners in 2025, and I can no longer recommend this motel. My family made reservations in January to stay here for my daughter's graduation in May. When we arrived to check in, they said they cancelled our reservation. But they never told us. Because it was graduation weekend, ALL other lodging was sold out. I've been staying here for about 10 years and have never had an issue until recently. Unfortunately, it is under new ownership and it shows. This used to be my home away from home while traveling personally and for business. The front desk staff and the owner did not handle a situation properly when it came to the cleanliness of their bathrooms. Unfortunately, because of the interaction, I will not be back, especially because I was told when I mentioned the mold in the bathrooms that the rooms were already at a discounted price. The owner asked me why I didn't mention it sooner than when I took a shower as though I'm supposed to inspect the room the moment I enter, I didn't think that this was something that I needed to do as I've stayed in this hotel so many times previously I felt comfortable being there. I was shocked to see the condition of the shower, and when it was brought to the attention of the owners, they became very defensive when I tried to go to my Booking.com reservation. I saw that they had canceled my reservation and stated through Booking.com that I was an actual no-show to avoid me being able to post to review through Booking.com. This motel is a hidden gem. We have stayed here several times and found each stay relaxing and affordable. It is centrally located to every place "cool" on the border of hip Eagle Rock, next to Silverlake and Hollywood. It is a great location to kick off your vacation. PROS: free, secure parking. CONS: It appears that management has changed hands, and the staff has slacked off some already. On our last stay, there was no body wash in the shower soap dispenser. Very cute motel and better than I expected considering it was a motel in the first place. We didn't want to stay in LA proper, so we thought we'd try a neighboring city and ended up focusing most of our trip around this area. Getting into the parking lot was a bit intimidating the first time because it was on a busy street and the gate was closed (it was after 5pm). As we pulled in the gate opened immediately and we were protected by cars that were parked on the street. Once we pulled in, there were plenty of spots, but every night we returned (around 10pm both nights on a weekday no less), there were usually only 1 or 2 spots remaining. Check-in was easy, and the front desk clerk was very nice, even giving us a few pouches of Japanese green tea and coffee to use with our room water boiler. When we got to our room, the inside looked to be newly renovated. It was not the fanciest looking room, but the amenities were nice and everything looked clean. The bathroom itself was a little small, and the tub did have a "squishiness" to the bottom of it, but everything was functional and really the room was just a place to crash at night for us. The location was great for us; we really didn't experience too too much traffic going to and from. It was convenient for Griffith Park, a few things we did in Pasadena, Alhambra, and even downtown LA. And even going to West Hollywood wasn't too bad. The most traffic we hit was leaving to go to LAX. Would definitely stay here again the next time we're in LA for a visit. read more

My family and I stayed here during a weekend vacation in Los Angeles, and this place was fantastic. Clean rooms, fair prices, close proximity to plenty of restaurants, shopping, Los Angeles, etc., and overall was a great experience. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the parking situation was good, and overall, we had a great stay from top to bottom. I booked a reservation through Expedia for 3 nights about 2 months ago because I was supposed to go to a music festival this weekend. Unfortunately, due to the rain, the event was postponed until next weekend, and I didn't receive the news until the day I had to check in. I called the front desk, and the lady on the phone already sounded rude. Since this booking was through Expedia, I had to request a cancellation through them. They were willing to give me a refund, but apparently, this shady motel didn't agree to give my money back. They don't care about hospitality; they just want your money. What a scam! read more

Terrible. I booked my stay about 4 months ago for a festival at the rose bowl that is happening in two days. They literally just text me saying the reservation has been cancelled because they were housing those who had to evacuate from the fire 6 months ago. my guess is they are getting money from the state. While this appears they are good Samaritans, run your business better. they are blaming expedia for not uprating guests, then make your hotel unavailable. its so shady. so my husband and I had to scramble this morning to find another place. I have enjoyed stays at this inexpensive motel in the past, but the lighting was too harsh for my spouse when she was with me on one trip. It always seemed to be clean and the beds are comfy. Recently I tried to make a reservation at the motel for a specific room, but they told me that all reservations are now made through a third party, such as Expedia. They lost my business because of that. I want to be able to talk to the front desk and make arrangements through them. Since my spouse was coming on the trip we wanted a room type with certain attributes, but we could not do that, so they lost our business. read more

This hotel was very clean. We loved the minimalist style of the decor and the manufactured wood floors, which felt so much more sanitary than carpet. We had a King Deluxe room and enjoyed the extra space of the sofa. The bathroom was large and had a large shower. The staff was friendly. We found it to be an excellent value. When we unexpectedly had to shorten our stay, they quickly refunded our overpayment. While not a "fancy" hotel, it had the most comfortable mattress EVER! Would gladly stay here again. read more

What I've always loved about this place is how clean everything is from the time you step foot in what you see to the bathroom, bathtub, toilet, floors, sheets, everything. If you seek cleanliness? First off, I have to say that the front desk clerk, I didn't catch his name, is extremely friendly. He said he's from Shibuya, which we pointed out due to the WIFI password. Knowing that he's from Japan, we could see why he's so polite and friendly. The hotel room is very clean and tidy. Streaming services are included, which is a big plus. The waterfall shower is nice and the seat is good since my wife is pregnant. The digital fireplace is a nice touch of ambiance. The backlit LED mirror is also very nice if you don't want a bright light but just need a bit in the night time. The only weird thing was the mirror facing the toilet. Kind of strange to watch yourself use the loo, but it's alright. Just don't look forward. All in all we highly recommend this place. Clean rooms, friendly staff, well-equipped with amenities. It's not the largest room, but it's big enough for us. It reminds us of our trip to Japan. read more
