I can't speak highly enough about this company. HVAC Medic has done work for me at multiple homes over the years with both stellar workmanship and top-notch customer service. They are great at both troubleshooting specific items of concern and doing general maintenance. I put in a trouble ticket with my leasing agent last night for an overflowing drain valve, and first thing today the folks at HVAC Medic reached out. What struck me as incredible caring and also sensible was they questioned my COVID exposure before they sent someone. They made the point that they are trying to be extra careful with their people and that they don't contribute to the spread, and I thought that was awesome. They said they could send someone same day, and this afternoon Joey arrived with a sturdy mask on, gloves, shoe covers, and a positive attitude. He was very prompt and arrived in the timeframe they said he would. He was clear and communicative about the nature of the issue (clogged drain for the HVAC system), and went so far as to diagnose a hot water leak in my faucet and unclog my sink drain. He was in and out in what I'd guess was about 40 minutes, problem solved. I was a jerk and hadn't cleared out under my sink, not knowing that it was related to the HVAC issues, and Joey asked permission before moving any of my stuff and offered to put it back where he found it. Our Home has two AC Units and we needed them to be checked and have any repairs or a tuneup going into the hot season. We saw an ad that another company was willing to discount both units for $79 each before any repairs. Unfortunately we didn't ask enough questions because when they came out they said it was going to be $79 for each AC unit and each furnace. At over $300 to just look at them we canceled the service quickly. HVAC Medic was then highly recommended by a an experienced Construction Supplier Rep. HVAC Medic was understanding and provided clear pricing with no hidden tricks. Tricks like increasing the service price to gain more commission. HVAC Medic technicians do not work on commission and give you honest work at legitimate reasonable prices. Technician Joey was assigned to us and used shoe covers, gloves and a mask in accordance to COVID-19 regulations. He greeted us at the door with his PPE on and got right to work. He explained how he was going to inspect my entire system to include crawling around my attic to find any leaks or problems with our system. We were absolutely impressed how he was cleaning all the units and making appropriate adjustments to the system to have optimal results. Joey must of gone up and into our attic a dozen times and even used a shop vac to clear out areas I never even looked at before. Best part, he did not BS us on refilling the system or replacing parts that were not damaged or broken. He was honest and said our system was old, but did not need to be replaced. He advised our system was not entirely efficient but it cooled the house and heated the house with no leaks or equipment failures. He replaced both air filters with new ones and advised that the service was complete within two hours. The entire service cost me under $200 based on my systems condition. I understand prices can vary at each home, but that was nowhere near the "Rob you Blind" price the other company was pitching. Throughout the entire service, Joey was educating us on how our HVAC system works. He did not push to purchase new equipment but gave explanations as to why newer systems are more efficient. Overall, we did not feel HVAC Medic was trying to take our money. They honesty just wanted to provide dependable service and get paid for there work. We are currently in the process of getting an estimate for a future purchase on two new condensers. This was based on Joey's honesty and recommendations to help with electrical costs and have a efficient system. Money is tight and we can not be happier with HVAC Medic during these times. My family and I can go into the hot season relieved we will be cool in our home. If you need your HVAC system looked at tuned up or repaired, stay away from the big name companies on the radio and TV with catchy gimmicks. I had a wonderful experience working with Jerry of HVAC Medic. I called 2 other companies and they were the best! I don't live in the San Diego area and the furnace and ducting in my brother's condo needed to be replaced and Jerry and his team took care of everything from re-routing the gas line and electrical to buying and installing a new furnace and installing new ducting. Their work is super clean and they are very trustworthy as I had to leave a lockbox for them to enter and complete the work because I couldn't be there. Jerry is a superstar he not only installed our unit in 2012 he has continued to be the only company who has provided consistent and honest service even when others can't. We recently had our AC stop functioning, Jerry was booked for 24 hours so wasn't immediately available and because we were in a time crunch I had to try another technician... I instantly regretted this decision.... The tech diagnosed a failed blower, and either through willful deceit or ignorance didn't check the factory warranty. He advised me a local motor would cost $533 and could be installed next day, which I was happy to pay. Jerry feeling bad that he couldn't help did call me that same night and through a quick conversation I discovered that the motor should be a free warrantied replacement. When I called the technician back to advise him of this, he got very upset feeling as if I was going around him. Sufficit to say, Jerry made some time the next afternoon to help us out, and we were back up and working to avoid dealing with 116 degree all-time recorded temps in El Cajon. It's upsetting to have to update my review, since my first visit a year ago was so amazing. I recently reached out to have HVAC Medic come out and investigate my A/C System after it started just blowing hot air. After my initial contact, they assured me that they would put be down for an appointment a week later, due to the high appointments they were receiving, in which I was understanding about. After a week going by with no call back from them I reached back out, calling them and expressing my frustration. I explained to them about there lack of communication and I was finally able to get the appointment locked. They finally came to my house and performed the service, which I was happy with. There diagnosis was a failed compressor and said that I had two options, replace the compressor or condenser. The Tech explained they will have to email me the pricing for the two options when the get back (either the same night or the next day). It has been a week with no follow through or communication by HVAC Medic. As understanding customer on how busy it can be, I cannot make an accuse for the lack of communication or commitment by a company like this. Follow through is an important part in a service based business. They do provide great service, when they are actually there. There are far to many Like companies out there to have to be at the mercy of one. read more

Earlier this year, I had three hvac units replaced at my house. The air conditioners worked fine during the summer but when it got cold and the heaters were turned on, two of the units kept shutting off. The original installer tried but was not able to fix the problems. I just wanted to speak with an expert and find out what I should do. Although Jerry is 150 miles away and most likely will never get any business from me, he spent 30 minutes on the phone explaining what the problem might be and what needed to be done. This review is way overdue. I called on Jerry a couple of months while shopping online for a company to diagnose a problem I was having with my heat pump outside. It was during the Spring when we had an unseasonably high spike in temps to the mid-nineties. The problem I was having was that when turning on the A/C I was getting air but it wasn't cooled. The heat pump outside was making a humming sound but the fan wasn't rotating. I made a few calls to some repair places and the consensus was that it was a most likely a bad capacitor or fuse. A few people made some scarier predictions like a refrigerant leak, blown motor, etc. I'm a DIY'er and can usually fix things myself but this was unchartered territory for me. I did some research and figured the cheapest way to go was to try the fuses or capacitor and if that didn't work then take the plunge on a more expensive diagnostic or repair that was "above my pay grade." Most of the places I called wanted between $250-$300 to replace the capacitor which was ridiculous based on the cost of the part and the labor to install it. I understand that there is other overhead involved in the job such as gas, time away from other higher paying jobs, etc. but I wasn't going to hire somebody without doing some serious research first. I came across HVAC Medic on Yelp (or Craigslist, I can't recall) and Jerry sounded like a nice enough guy to call for his advice. His price to change out the capacitor was about $100 plus the part. He did a great job of thoroughly explaining all of the scenarios and gained my trust. He also said he would sell me the part at his cost with no markup. That's impressive. He also was taking my calls well after normal working hours which is something I do with my business, so I was really impressed with his level of customer service. I still wasn't quite ready to pay his install/truck fee, although very reasonably priced, so he offered to stop by and take a quick look at it for no charge. How could I say no? He agreed to come by the next day to take a look at it so I took the heat pump cover off to save him some time. When he came out he did a quick diagnostic and determined that it was the capacitor. He arranged for me to get the part at his cost and I installed it that night. It has worked like a champ ever since. I would give him my highest recommendation and would call him for any future work I need done without any hesitation. Thank you Jerry! read more

I am a little late with writing this review. I discovered on Friday March 12 that I needed a replacement water heater since mines was old & rusted and bottomed out. In a panic I got on craigslist looking for licensed plumbers. I came across HVAC Medic and immediately came to Yelp to check them out. The reviews were very positive so I contacted the company. I received a call back within a few hours from Jerry. He couldn't come out until Monday, which was fine, because it gave me more time to research and review other companies. I ended up going to Home Depot on Saturday to price water heaters and they convinced me to let their experts do it. The quote I received from them was outrageous, and they told me all these add-on was needed. I got home and in a panic, I called Jerry because I need to verify the information I was given. He called me back on Sunday, but he spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me going over so much information. I instantly knew that I like his business practices. Monday March 14 he came out and did an estimate and Tuesday my new water heater was installed. He took pictures and text them to me and the clean-up was perfect. I have absolutely no complaints. His warranties cannot be beat. I have his number in my phone and will be utilizing him in the event I have any other plumbing issues. read more

Trust me, these guys are the best of the best. We had an AC system that was installed in 1972 and the inefficiency was beyond any description and cost us a fortune. The guys at HVAC Medic came in and not only got us 60% greater efficiency, but the end results in the house were immediately noticeable. We had air blowing around at 69 degrees that is now 48 degrees and costing us less than half of what our dinosaur unit was costing us. Having said that, it's not just about cold air, it's about the quality of the air and HVAC Medic improved both by remarkable levels. I cannot possibly recommend these guys more. A couple of weeks ago it went from blowing not-cold air to not blowing at all, which in Santee is a death sentence over summer!
