They usually can't get to you for a few days because they are overloaded and don't work weekends so keep that in mind if your in a bind over a weekend. Lost about who to pick from a dizzying array of HVAC specialists? Stop surfing and read this review! Mike with Alliance HVAC was my choice after a year of research on HVAC and 8 competitive quotes. I am an IT professional; no details go unnoticed; I am picky and high maintenance! Not only was he the most inexpensive meeting my budget, but he gave me the most bang for my buck with a consumer grade 3 ton Rheem gas heating and air conditioning solution (pics posted on Yelp -- Allied Gardens). There was no prior AC; the job included removing an old furnace, building the system completely in the attic, and adding two vents on the far side of the house. I learned about Mike through a friend; his business is a well kept secret (maybe not any more lol). With Mike you get straightforward honest personal customer service, unlike a mega corporation that is more concerned with funding its advertising campaign, or evading accountability by sending unqualified technicians after you sign the contract. In fact, out of 30+ contractors I have had renovating my 1968 home, including a $30,000 kitchen renovation I just finished, Mike (and his work partner) were the most thorough perfectionists, accountable, positive, communicative, easy to work with, and most courteous not to cause damage or disruption while doing heavy renovation. I was at the house supervising during the entire job as I work from home. I even explored the attic (which was not an easy or comfortable setting) with him to understand the work and decisions involved, which Mike explained and educated clearly. Mike has broad experience including gas, electric, roofing, plumbing, air flow, and structural integrity. He has been part of a family owned HVAC company since his teenage years. He can anticipate problems so that the job was done completely and correctly the first time, and when it was clear the best solution was going to take more time, patience, and physically demanding work, Mike of his own volition and without complaining put in the extra hours and effort, and even upgraded certain hardware at no additional cost to me. As Mike is the owner and the primary technician who will quote and implement your HVAC solution start to finish, you may need to be patient from a scheduling perspective as his priority is for all of his customers (and their emergencies). That said, he was always on time, or else communicating changes in advance. You owe it to yourself to call Mike, get a quote, and see for yourself how he has set the bar with customer service and quality project implementation for the HVAC industry! Update: 12/22. If I could give 6 stars, I would! Quick background - 3 years ago I had a bad interaction with the company that soured my opinion of them. Since then Michael has reached out on numerous occasions to personally apologize and even offered to give me a discount on A/C related work Since I did not have any A/C work needed, I reached out to Michael to see if he could install a ceiling fan for my master bedroom - He offered to do it at half of what he would usually charge for the labor. He showed up half hour before his appointment and did top notch work; and also offered some tips on how we could improve airflow to our room - I'm very pleased with his workmanship and will definitely use Michael again for any A/C related work in the future. read more

After our AC recently went out, we contacted a contractor to come out to inspect the unit. Without seeing it, he quoted my wife ~$1,000 for what he said was likely a bad compressor. Our second call was to Alliance. My wife spoke to Mike, the owner, who said that there were a lot of possible reasons the AC might be out, and he would need to see it to make an assessment. This sounded much more legitimate, so we set up an appointment. Mike came within the window, and was extremely professional. He was able to diagnose the problem, which turned out to be minor, and charged a very fair rate. He was very professional, honest, and knowledgeable. Our central A/C system stopped working over the weekend. On Monday, we paid "AirMaxx Heating & Air-conditioning" to inspect it and they quoted us $6,000-$7,000 to replace the system + the condenser. We freaked out at the cost, since we don't have that kind of money laying around. Our AC system is also only 10-years old, so it doesn't make sense there would be that large of an expense. Luckily, we had the common sense to call someone for a second opinion. Michael Rotter and his team at "Alliance Heating & A/C" came out on Wednesday and proved to be honest, honorable and knowledgeable! Not only did they say we didn't need to replace the system, but it only needed to be cleaned. Instead of it costing us $6,000-$7,000, it only cost of $249. Lesson learned? Always get multiple opinions for large quotes AND always make sure you call Alliance Heating & A/C FIRST. They are HONEST and understand the value of retaining repeat customers, for less money, actually makes them MORE money over time. We'll never call anyone else. Michael and his team are our go-to solution, as long as we live in San Diego. Thanks Michael -- you're an awesome person and professional. Alliance Heating & Air Conditioning assisted with an A/C issue in an apartment after a leak a few years ago. I had such a positive experience that I held onto their card just in case and I'm so glad I did. We had a horrible experience with this company. We were even promised he would come back with inspectors to have final job inspected and signed off and we never heard back from him. Bottom line yes ac works. However that is only part of the equation. His customer service skills are extremely lacking, as well as his professionalism. First of all, I've never had better customer service. When I called Alliance, Michael, was very kind and helpful. He answered all my questions and even tried to diagnose the problem over the phone. It ended up, I needed a new heating unit for my four bedroom house. Michael had advised me on which unit to get and installed it very promptly. I had a company come out and they said I had a leak in my condenser that could not be repaired and I would have to change both my inside and outside units in order to change over to a 410A system. My system is only 7 years old but I don't know about AC so I started having some of the bigger companies come out and quote me prices on the new system. I told them the situation and all I got in return was a high quote for a new system. When Alliance came out, not only did they give me the best price for replacement, they told me my system didn't need to be replaced and that the leak was on a copper coil that could be repaired and that they could get me back up and running again for $395. They also told me that if they couldn't fix it they wouldn't charge me. I was astonished by their honesty and obviously had them REPAIR my AC. They got my existing system fixed and running better than ever and now, over a month later and through three 100+ degree heat waves, it is still running like new. I cannot tell you guys how much I appreciate this company for saving me thousands and thousands of dollars. If and when I ever do need to get my system replaced I know exactly who I'm calling and would recommend Alliance to any and everyone. They have gained a customer for life...em. read more

Very satisfied customer! The money they saved me is going to be exceeding more than the cost for them to come out. My installer had incorrectly wired my heating/cooling unit which was damaging it and running my electric bill way up. In fact, I had already had a another, large, AC company come out earlier in the year and gave me the "all clear". After a few months, I was still suspicious and met Mike by happenstance and asked him to take a look. It was literally the moment he opened the panel that he realized what was wrong, fixed it in a few minutes, hooked up a new thermostat, and were on their way. Great Service. Decided to do a AC/Heater tune up when we moved in get all the grime off everything. Mike walked me through all the tune-up items, and items that were dirty (affecting usage). Also installed a new thermostat so that we can turn our Heater or AC on through the internet, which is amazing when we want the AC to turn on an hour before getting home. These guys are awesome! I bought a new house with an ancient HVAC system that needed to be replaced or really repaired. I called Alliance, and they immediately sent someone out to take a look at my aging system. They told me what needed to be replaced and what could stay. Then they came and did the work exactly when I requested it to be done. All in all they saved me a lot of money and got the work done faster then I expected. These guys were amazing!! My wife called them at 9 o'clock at night when our air-conditioner broke and Mike the owner answered the phone and was able to schedule an appointment the next day to come out and fix our air conditioner. Not only were they on time but they called beforehand to make sure that I was home and ready for the appointment which was extremely courteous. Once they were here they were very friendly and nice, they worked extremely well with dogs around and they were able to troubleshoot the problem immediately and find a solution. I even needed a part that they did not have on the truck and they immediately went out to the store and got the part and fixed my air conditioner. They did all of this with in one hour and the price was so reasonable that you absolutely have to call alliance if you ever have air-conditioning issues or want the best and most honest business owner in the air-conditioning business! read more

I have been using Alliance for 25+ years. They installed my central a/c have done repairs on my heating as well. Mike Rotter completely took over the business and I continued to use him knowing he was well trained in his field of expertise.He calls back very quickly and arrives promptly . In the last year alone he has repaired my a/c and has fixed my heater. He knows my dad is very old so he made sure he came the same day in the evening instead of having me wait until the next day.
