We came here during happy hour on a Saturday for drinks and apps and it was a great choice. The oysters we chose were the local James Island and were perfect. The dropper included for the oysters was a jalepeno mint liquid and was an interesting addition. The tuna tostada was smoky and a little spicy but very good and the crema on top was refreshing. We did not have to wait for a table for 4. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Tucked off Queen street it's the perfect happy hour restaurant.

Decided to celebrate our anniversary in Charleston, and landed at Husk- conveniently located across the street from our hotel. So many fine dining establishments to choose from in town, and we were not disappointed with our choice. We were led up a flight of steps and out onto a cute balcony with about 6 tables. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with cocktails and wine, then opted for the collard cabbage pancake topped with crabmeat, scallions and jalapenos. We've eaten collards many different ways- but this was a fun preparation. Very tasty! We ordered the rabbit sausage and corn dish which was amazingly different and the brisket topped with a bbq and peppercorn glaze and potato salad, which were both also very good! Highly recommend checking out their menu.

If you're looking for true southern flavors, executed to perfection, you have to go to Husk! This is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to in Charleston, and perhaps my favorite place I've been to this year so far! Every single detail is well thought out; the ingredients are locally sourced and of the best quality; the ambience is classy & inviting, perfect for a date night or intimate dinner with friends & family. The service is top of the line & they will go out of their way to give you the absolute best experience possible! The pastrami brisket is out of this world! It is so tender and packed with flavor! The potato salad is light & I love how small the bits are so you get a great bite every time! The deviled eggs are a fun shareable, & will probably be the best you've ever had! The ribs are also fall off the bone tender & have a great tang! The carrots are a great side to share for the table & if you're an Old Fashioned fan, you will absolutely enjoy Husk's!

Great food and great service. Food is pricey. Very pricey. But you're paying for the Charleston experience. The food is diverse in flavor and ingredients. I wish they offered more vegetarian options. The restaurant is so Charleston, it's in an old home and super Southern. The restaurant is clean and the service is great. Limited parking so seek out a parking garage and make sure to make a reservation.

22oz Ribeye

Came in here on a Thursday night for a business dinner. Made reservations through Resy online. It was back to school week for CofC so had to go with 5:30. We parked in a parking garage right across the street. I think it was $10 to park. This is a farm to table kind of place so the menu changes regularly and it is limited. But the food is incredible. We started with deviled eggs and some sort of oyster app. I'm not much of an oyster guy but they were very good. The deviled eggs were excellent. For my main, I got a 22 ounce ribeye. It was $135! But... it was fantastic. Had mushrooms and some sort of sauce on it and pre sliced which was nice. For sides we got collard greens. They were tasty. Only knock - this is a "family friendly" restaurant. We were seated upstairs in a small room and there were 2 other parties with young children that must have missed their nap time. Yikes - the screaming. Highly recommend if farm to table to your thing.

Primrose Path, Husk Restaurant, September 2021

Four? Five? years later, Husk is still one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. I absolutely loved my first meal here back in 2021, so returning this year with friends was a no-brainer. This time around I was dining with friends, which meant we got to order a whole bunch of dishes - a foodie's dream. We started with the Hunter Cattle Beef Tartare, topped with shoestring potatoes, smoked cheddar, and egg yolk jam. It was rich, flavorful, and while the presentation looked a bit like dog food, it was otherwise the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the table, we also shared the Roasted Carrots, served with chamomile honey, labneh, puffed rice, candied peanuts, and an olive crumble. I know, carrots aren't always a "must-order," but trust me - they were fantastic. We also couldn't pass up the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread with Broadbent bacon crumble mixed throughout. Southern comfort food!!! For my entree, I ordered the Blueberry & Corn Salad, which was anything but an ordinary salad. Between the BBQ pecans, ricotta salata, bacon fat honey mustard, and fresh seasonal ingredients, every bite was packed with flavor. One friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed cantaloupe, marigold, and leche de tigre. It was bright, refreshing, and beautifully plated. Our other friend opted for the South Carolina Golden Tilefish, served with Kindlewood Farms summer squash and serrano, and it, too, was a hit. For drinks, one friend enjoyed a glass of wine while I ordered the Dragoon Punch. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn my beloved Primrose Path was no longer on the menu. I even asked if they could make one, but unfortunately they were missing one of the ingredients. No worries, the Dragoon Punch was delicious and a worthy replacement. Our server, Tal H., was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, informative, and guided us through the ever-changing menu with ease. Even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. Husk continues to be worth the reservation. I'd happily dine here again... and again... and ag

Wood Fired Oysters

First Visit to Husk -- Worth Every Bit of the Hype After hearing so much about Husk over the years, we finally made our first visit--and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. Housed in a beautifully restored historic Charleston home, Husk perfectly captures everything you love about the city's charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere feels warm, elegant, and inviting. We were seated upstairs in a gorgeous dining room where the tables were thoughtfully spaced, making the experience feel intimate rather than crowded. The hospitality was outstanding from start to finish, but our server, Chris, truly made the evening unforgettable. He welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and, after taking our cocktail orders, walked us through the menu--which changes daily. Rather than simply listing dishes, Chris described each one in detail, explaining the flavors, ingredients, and preparations with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited about every option. It's rare to meet someone who so clearly loves what they do, and his knowledge and personality elevated our entire dining experience. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and the Woodfired Oysters. The tuna, paired with delicate slices of cantaloupe, sounded like an unusual combination on paper, but somehow it was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The oysters arrived warm, buttery, and perfectly seasoned--simple, yet incredibly satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops served over creamed corn. I'll admit, I was hesitant because creamed corn has never been one of my favorites. But after Chris encouraged me to trust the dish--and after seeing how incredible the appetizers were--I went for it. I'm so glad I did. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender, and sweet, while the creamed corn was rich, fresh, and nothing like the version I had imagined. It completely changed my mind. My husband chose the Rabbit Roulade, which was cooked beautifully with just the right amount of spice to keep each bite interesting without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread, and if you're debating whether to order it...don't. Just do it. It's absolutely worth it. Then came dessert. Chris walked us through several tempting options, including a mud pie, a watermelon ice pie, and a peach cobbler, along with Husk's house-made ice creams featuring flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie (plus a refreshing fruit sorbet). We settled on the Peach Cobbler along with scoops of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie ice creams. Every single bite was phenomenal. The cobbler tasted like summer in a bowl, while both ice creams were so flavorful and creamy that we kept passing them back and forth trying to decide which one we liked better. Spoiler alert: we never could. From the stunning historic setting and exceptional service to the thoughtfully crafted food, Husk delivered an experience that reminded us why Charleston has become such an incredible food destination. If Husk has been sitting on your "one day" list, consider this your sign. Make the reservation. Trust your server. Order dessert. And enjoy every single bite.

Husk is a beautiful restaurant located in downtown Charleston. It has two side by side locations, one with the full food menu and one that is only bar seating with a more concise menu. My husband and I went to the restaurant side which is a large, redesigned Victorian style house. We went in as in Walk -Ins but reservations are recommended. The service was fast and the food was phenomenal. The beef tartare was fresh, and easily shareable. Cocktails were brought out fast and both tasted delicious. The scallops and pork chop were some of the best we've had. The only slightly disappointing dish was the corn bread which was on the more dry side, however the collards more than made up for it. The only downside to this restaurant were the flies, I felt like I was battling both large and fruit flies my entire meal. There were so many. We were inside so I'm not sure where they were coming from. Would've been 5 stars had it not been for this.

We really enjoyed Husk! My husband & I dropped into the small bar area of husk for happy hour. It was a cute little bar with fabulous cocktails! I had a grapefruit cocktail & my husband had a fancy beer. The shaved ham on the burnt oak barrel was delicious. We really loved this place very high end feel

This location came highly recommended by my hairstylist, who has exceptional taste in food. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a reservation at our usual dinner time, so we decided to try just a few items. We ordered the cornbread, which I had high hopes for; it was decently flavored but a bit on the dry side. The deviled eggs were delicious, though they were slightly too spicy for our liking. We finished them anyway. For dessert, we opted for the chocolate mint grasshopper dessert, which was absolutely phenomenal. Ordering drinks was a bit more challenging. Although they carry Licor 43, I was told they don't offer the Carajillo since they don't have coffee on-site. I found this strange because they did make an espresso martini for me. The waiter explained that they don't have the machine on-site but source nitro coffee from an alternative supplier. Overall, we were excited to try this restaurant due to all the positive reviews, but we found it a bit underwhelming, to be fair. We only sampled a few items.

Food was fair. My Tile Fish dish was light and bright, with a corn/miso sauce that was delicious. My husband did not love his $49 brisket, reported it was fatty and tasteless. Cornbread was good, as was the broiled oysters. Our waitress Meghan was delightful. The ambiance was poor sitting on the 2nd floor porch ( which we requested, not knowing it would be enclosed in plastic). Main problem was a group of 3 young women sitting in the corner, who were so loud and boisterous that no one in the vicinity could hear their table partners. Our waitress said there was nothing they could do about it. We were not the only ones who bailed before dessert. And while it was noted upon our arrival that we were celebrating my husband's birthday, nothing was done by the staff to celebrate it. Overall, a disappointment. .

Impeccable brunch!! I had a reservation on a Sunday morning. I was promptly seated downstairs. The interior is feminine and beautiful. The service felt personal and welcoming. I tried the omelette which was stuffed with asparagus, Boursin cheese and caramelized onion. It was fluffy, light and salty. Also ordered a side of biscuits with strawberry jam which wasn't overly sweet and balanced out the butteriness. The husk mimosa was a hit as well. I'd definitely come back from brunch and curious to try for dinner!

Pastrami

Wow so tasty!!!! We had a 5:15 reservation and it was bright and airy in there. We got placed at table 25, which is right next to the fireplace (unlit), but we had the perk of the mantel to leave a menu for more. Garden Party cocktail -- yum!!! Not spicy, but good flavor. Scallop dumplings -- if I was at home, I'd bring the bowl to my mouth and drink the remaining sauce. Pastrami -- fell apart in your mouth. So good! Tilefish -- wow. The corn mash and miso sauce paired with it 11/10. Potatoes were candied and had a great popcorn rice to top it off. Soo good!! While we had a fabulous experience at FIG last night, I know there is a lot out there highlighting both. If you're torn between the two, hopefully this helps... think of FIG as more dark, moody, white table cloths, fine dining, a lot of seafood options. Husk is more bright, more casual while still remaining nice, more meat options here. Both fabulous, just depends what you're looking for! Bathroom was clean and well kept, which I think says a lot about a restaurant.

Husk!!

Ask the Community - Husk

Do they really included a 20% gratuity on in-dining? I read it on the website afterwards- so I guess I tipped 40% - very deceiving

No, they don't. Nor is it shown as a disclaimer on their menu.

How hot is it in July on the porch for dinner? Resy says they've got fans, but if it's unbearable, would like to know. Thanks!

Hot! Uncomfortable to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended eating indoors

What's the dress code?

Business casual, but there are much better restaurants in Charleston.

Does Husk accept walk ins or are reservations required?

If they have an opening they do accept walk-ins but they tend to be fully booked.

Is this place walker accessible?

Yes it is. I'd recommend calling in advance so they seat you in the rooms more accessible at the door. It's a spacious restaurant with various areas.

Is there a dress code?

Most people dress nicely to enjoy a meal at this restaurant - however I don't believe management specifically states a level of dress in order to dine there.

Do they offer Vegetarian entrees?

I do know their menu changes often. Weekly perhaps. You could probably order a "vegetable platter " and not be disappointed. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Is there a military discount offered?

We don't know. I researched it on the Net. Came up empty. Best to call them.

Do servers wear masks?

Yes

Is there bar seating for cocktail around 5:00pm?

Yes, but you'll need reservations even for the bar. The bartenders are fabulous!

Is there a kid's menu or kid-friendly options?

No. Not a good place for kids

Is there a tasting menu option and if so, how much does it typically cost?

No, standard a la carte menu.

Would it be okay to bring a newborn and toddler here for dinner? Newborn just sleeps. Toddler roams. Too fancy a place?

Please don't, the roaming is unacceptable in any restaurant, but especially here.

Hoping it's less pricey at lunch. Is there a separate lunch menu?

Yes, the best way to go for a less expensive experience is either lunch or the bar menu. In my opinion one of the best things on their entire menu is their burger, which is also one of the cheapest things--and NOT available on the dinner menu, only…

When Maisie brought us our first plates, she asked us if we were considering the pork chop, which is exactly what we were interested in. She said there were only two left and held one for us. This is the kind of excellent service she provided throughout the meal. The pork chop was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with a wonderful wood smoked flavor. The whipped potatoes and roasted heirloom baby carrots were the perfect accompaniment. Nothing has changed inside or out since my last visit. The vibe is Charleston laid back and comfortable. Famous for its oysters and fried chicken, this Charleston favorite has a vibrant green entrance you can't miss, with cozy indoor seating plus patios in both the front and back that give off relaxed, coastal vibes. We started with the smoked mahi dip, and I honestly couldn't stop eating it--it was my favorite dish of the day. We also ordered two rounds of the chargrilled oysters, and they disappeared almost instantly. For our entrées, we shared the famous fried chicken, and whenever I see a whole fish on the menu, I'm ordering it. The branzino was cooked perfectly--flavorful, tender, and definitely worth it. To cool off, we grabbed one of their frozen drinks, which was the perfect refreshing treat on a hot Charleston day. One tip: get there early because this place fills up fast. The design is thoughtfully executed, the space feels comfortable even when it's busy, and the service is friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. I also appreciated a small but important detail: despite how popular the restaurant is, there are plenty of restrooms and no long lines. Little things like that genuinely improve the guest experience. Unfortunately, that's where most of my praise ends. I intentionally ordered many of the restaurant's signature dishes because I wanted to judge the restaurant as a whole rather than base my opinion on one successful plate. The food simply doesn't live up to the expectations created by the photos. Everything looks noticeably less refined and less appetizing once it reaches the table. The fried chicken was just ordinary chicken in a heavy, greasy breading. The oysters were fresh and enjoyable with no complaints there. The famous salad turned out to be mostly a large bowl of cabbage, while the avocado and mandarin seemed more decorative than meaningful. Most of the flavor came from mint and an overly acidic vinaigrette that dominated the dish. The fish sandwich was the biggest disappointment. The issue wasn't the fish itself but the composition of the sandwich. The dry, stale bun completely overpowered everything else, while the basic vegetables did nothing to complement or elevate the fish. Instead of highlighting the main ingredient, the sandwich buried it, which defeats the entire purpose of a great fish sandwich. The Korean smashed cucumber salad tasted primarily of vinegar and sesame oil with very little depth, while the hush puppies were dry and lacked the rich corn flavor that usually makes them memorable. Even the drinks reinforced the same impression. The beer was good, but charging $8 for what felt like half of a standard pour once again made the value feel questionable. This brings me to the biggest issue with Leon's. It feels like the restaurant invests far more in its atmosphere, interior design, and photogenic image than in its food. It's a place that looks incredible in pictures and is easy to recommend for the setting, but much harder to recommend for the cuisine itself. High prices are not a problem when they are backed by exceptional cooking. Here, however, it felt as though I was paying for the restaurant's reputation, constant stream of tourists, and social media appeal rather than for truly outstanding food. I would happily come back for a beer, enjoy the patio, and spend an evening with friends. But I wouldn't return specifically for the food. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation, that's the greatest disappointment of all.
