Awesome old-style hardware store. Very convenient. Wish there were these in every town instead of the mega-hardware places.

Perfect little hometown, family run business. I hope the community supports this business. It is a sweet find. And ladies...just a heads up. They treat you like a lady, no talking down to the gals. These guys are true gentlemen. And not too hard to look at either :) Seriously, most hardware/tool places don't cater to women well. Boltz is the exception. Ok...now on to the garden center. Healthiest plants ever seen...oh and did I mention...OLD FASHIONED CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Might be worth the plane ticket to visit again.

Dear people of Martinsburg and surrounding areas,…read more You should support your local businesses before all that's left in martinsburg is just tattoo shops, homeless shelters, and a Chinese restaurant. With spring upon us I thought it time I should make mention of Boltz. First Boltz is everything Home Depot isn't by that I mean there are Human Beings employed here interested in assisting you in your endeavors. Secondarily they have a really nice selection of Tomato plants in the spring. If you buy bird seed or grass seed for your lawn somewhere else your wasting your money. Just a random list of things they carry: onion sets, seed potatoes, seed by the Oz. I got enough Arugula seeds for the entire year for a fraction of those stupid seed packets at Blowes (Lowes). There is a small selection of hardware and tools along with candy and lots of WVU knick-knackery. So the next time you have the urge too explore your inner-hipster and grow some cucumbers and then make some pickles go too Boltz before it's to late.

For a long time I supported this place and strongly advocated against shopping at Ace hardware…read more Keep things local at a hardware store that is part of the community. Unfortunately, one smug employee ruined that experience for me, and I'll now be switching my allegiance to Ace. I purchased a small $6 shower accessory. Unfortunately I lost the receipt. The accessory was not what I needed, and I attempted to return it. The employee stated I cannot return without a receipt, even for a store credit (I was going to purchase products worth more than the value of what I was returning). I was disappointed at this response, but I shopped for what I needed anyway. I went to the front, and the employee was helping another customer in an aisle. After helping that customer, she proceeded to another customer in the aisle. Now, I understand one person having to triage, but at that point a simple acknowledgement of me would have been nice. It felt intentional, and it seemed as if the employee was taking satisfaction, acting somewhat smug as she told me she won't accept a return without a receipt. Not sure if this is just one rude employee, or the owner is really this strict about returns on $6 items that are clearly unused, but either way, I seriously doubt I'll be doing business here any more. If you had or have a similar experience, I also encourage you to drop these clowns. (Incidentally, when I purchased the item I would eventually return, I was not asked for my phone number (which they generally use to text receipts, as I'm part of their "customer club" or whatever. So there is actually another mess-up by a different employee that could have accommodated the companies own draconian return policy.) In short, I go to a neighborhood spot like this for the service. And when I'm treated this way, it defeats the purpose of avoiding much more convenient and likely cheaper options like Ace or Amazon. You are not really selling hardware - you should be trying to offer a superior customer experience--remember that and you will not lose customers like this

Charles Flanagan was who was supposed to help me and sent me to customer service to be left ringing over 30 times and then be hung up on. I have been coming to this location probably since it opened. In fact, the first week it opened my dad and I would go up just to, trying to find some sort of reason to go and check things out. Any time I'm in the store, I think of him. I have bought a variety of items from new sinks, power tools, plumbing, flowers in spring, and concrete. The concrete pricing and flowers you really can't beat; however, their prices are somewhat gouged knowing that they are the only show in town. Up near Pittsburgh where there is both a Home Depot and Lowes, prices are way more fair. Also, the issue here is a lack of knowledge and when you do approach the pro or contractor desk- they look down at you like you're bothering them. I've flipped 3 houses and you've seen my skills, how about some respect.
