Overall (food, service, ambiance) it was just average, in my opinion. We had the Cali and Traditional bennies. The biscuits were dry and would have benefitted from a little more hollandaise, but the veggies were fresh and tasty. The eggs were cooked a perfect medium as requested. The coffee (average flavor) was pricey but served in a large mug and gladly refilled by a friendly server. The tots were ok, but adding hot sauce was necessary for me. You order at the counter and food is delivered to you. The counter person did not ask if I wanted anything to drink (I had forgotten to mention), so I ended up ordering and paying for my coffee separately. She did apologize. The tip is calculated on an after-tax basis and there is a surcharge for using credit (did not notice a sign and counter did not mention). The restaurant is clean and bright with cheerful colors and soft, low background music playing. However, it had a bit of an institutional feel (hospital cafeteria). The restrooms were very clean. My wife and I decided to do a morning date and went there to check it out. While the dining room is a little noisy, the food was excellent and the staff is super friendly. I finally had a chance to try this place this morning. It was with great anticipation as there's nothing I love better than a big fluffy biscuit. However I was really disappointed. I ordered a sausage, scrambled egg and cheese biscuit. This first thing I noticed was the egg. It has been cooked in to much oil and at too high a temperature. It was very greasy with high heat marks. Second was the biscuit. Y'all need to ditch this recipe! It's got way too much lard/crisco which resulted in a heavy pie crust like consistency. I could clearly see the translucence inside when it cracked into pieces. Biscuits are supposed to be light and fluffy, not heavy and crack-apart flakey. Chef, please get a biscuit from Burger King, KFC, Popeyes and see the difference. (Yes, I'll get my biscuits there from now on). I normally have very stable digestive system but within 30 minutes, I had to visit you-can guess- where for several minutes! If you check my other reviews you'll see I am quite generous.
