Okarche's only a short drive up from OKC via the Northwest Expressway, and you'll definitely want to drop in here for a full meal -- cinnamon rolls or no. (The cinnamon rolls are good, but also candidates for placing any number of people into diabetic comas. Just sayin'.) But back to the meal itself. Hubs had the chicken-fried steak plate in spite of his ungodly high cholesterol levels. (Yes, he wanted to order a cinnamon roll as well after lunch, but I kiboshed that because, well, he also has high blood sugar. Oy vey.) We ended up opting to take a tray of cinnamon rolls home so that Mean Ol' Me could freeze them and then ration them out like crusts of moldy bread in the Warsaw ghetto. (I have to be like that sometimes. Believe me.) Me? I had the boring but well made standard of roast beef, mashed potatoes, an a dinner roll -- kinda hard to complain about. Tower cafe we've eaten there numerous times over the years. It's a historic restaurant. The food served is always consistently delicious

The food is basic. Little to no flavor. The service was poor but what can you expect from a young girl. The Ambiance is uninviting and odd. Do not eat the cinnamon roll it's horrible. A place that claims to be famous for it should think twice before service the inedible stale no frosting one we had. The restaurant appeared to be clean. The NY strip is lousy pounded out steak that could have been better off used as their chicken fried. I wouldn't waste my money. Eishens is down the road and is a better spend for your buck. read more

First off, Great service the waitress was so prompt with anything I needed and seemed like a very nice person. Unfortunately I didn't think to catch her name. The food came out in great time as well. Everything came out cooked just the way I wanted. With the bacon having a good crisp not too much grease. The toast being buttered and toasted very nicely! Overall I really enjoyed my breakfast. We were told we needed to try their cinnamon rolls. We wanted to get some to go. They have trays of them ready, but had to wait about 10 minutes to get anyone to come to the register. The rolls (we bought a small round pan with about 8 rolls in it) were almost raw in the middle. Swimmimg in sugary syrup. They were edible, but I'm not sure why they were so highly recommended. read more

The cinnamon rolls are enjoyable. Maybe not worth the drive, but worth a stop if you happen to be in the area. Would I drive all the Okarche just for these cinnamon rolls? No. But are they pretty tasty? Yeah! These had just the right amount of cinnamon and moistness and tasted awesome even days after buying the pan (hint: toast them in the oven for 5 min at 350 degrees for warm deliciousness). I enjoyed the large, bacon-wrapped chopped beef steak, baked potato, green beans and dinner salad. Service was mostly attentive (10-15 minutes between stops by my table) and the coconut pie was relatively good (not a strong coconut flavor...and I'm not crazy about meringue). The small cinnamon roll that came with my dinner was excellent. My dinner was not super hot when it arrives which meant the butter was slow to melt and the cheese really did not melt on the baked potato. Cost was reasonable. A 4 feels a little too high but I think Tower Cafe is probably a little better than average. I'd give them 3.5 stars but that's not an option. read more

After a morning of sightseeing and driving, we stopped at the Tower Cafe for a late lunch. We had an open face hot roast beef and an open face hot hamburger sandwich. Our meals came with mashed potatoes and gravy. Both of our lunches were good, not great. Gravy was a little salty. Service was excellent. read more

I bought some cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls for Thanksgiving and I LOVED the cinnamon rolls. They were so big and gooey and just the right amount of icing. They are very easy to separate and just defrost and your good to go. Now the dinner rolls weren't my fave. I didn't like that they were frozen. They tasted very plain and nothing too great about them. But those cinnamon rolls are fantastic!!! read more

You get what you pay for...I suppose it's true! It is very cheap, but it took 20 minutes for a hamburger, my side dish was wrong and we only saw our waitress once when we ordered drinks, once to order food and then to have food delivered. Never received a refill of drinks. There were only 2 waitresses working and they were darting all over the place. Food was not hot. Water was definitely not filtered, and cinnamon roll was hard as a rock, as was my husbands roll that came with his 'dinner'. I wouldn't choose to go back to this restaurant, especially given that Eischen's is right around the corner. They need to staff appropriately and serve fresher food, quicker. Good luck! read more

Tower Cafe is a place to go for a hot meal that fills your stomach. That is to say, don't expect anything fancy or remarkable, just expect honest food in a down-home cooking style. The chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes come covered in peppered gravy. The black pepper is pretty heavy, so keep that in mind. The salad bar is small but it has a good macaroni salad in there as well. The cinnamon rolls aren't really a big deal, but it's a nice hot finish to a nice hot meal. The food really isn't special and tends to be underwhelming but I've got good memories of this place and it delivers exactly what one would expect. If you're on highway 81, you're hungry, and you want a hot and filling meal, this is regular Oklahoma food right here. read more

I ate for lunch while I was in town for work. There aren't a whole lot of options in Okarche and I have eaten at Eischen's numerous times. I ate the fried catfish that was on the buffet that day. I chose mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans for my side items, as well as a salad. The meal also came with a dinner roll and a small cinnamon roll. Everything was delicious and I will definitely come to eat here again when I am in Okarche. Don't skip the cinnamon roll, you will not regret it! read more

I have no idea if the food or service is good. But if you are a fan of Cinnamon rolls, I have found none better. Let me preface this by saying, I'm not a Cinnamon roll aficionado by any means, and usually would much rather have a donut. But on the rare occasion I crave a cinnamon roll, these are the best I've had. They are simple, and not overly dressed up. They are just good, soft and yummy. I find the drive well worth it (from Piedmont), especially if you partner if up with a trip to Eischens for the fried chicken. I've eaten here two different times, lunch and dinner. Both times of day I had to look for a clean table. Almost all of them were dirty. The lunch time visit was very uncomfortable. The waitress acted like it was a real bother we were there. Another employee (possibly management by the way he was dressed?) also made me feel unwelcome when I asked for napkins to clean up some spilled water at my table. I got up to ask for some because the waitress wasn't around for a while. At dinner, after finding a clean table, the staff was more receptive of our dining there. Not that friendly to non-locals. The food was good. I had the lunch buffet special: fried catfish fillet, mashed potatoes, green beans and a salad. Tried to make conversation with the ladies that eventually served me. However, had to stand around at the entrance and look like a fool before anyone spoke. I didn't let that bother me. I was seated close to the kitchen yet waited too long for anyone to bring a menu or even act like I was even there. Eventually a young blonde waitress with big glasses came to take my order but again wasn't much for helping someone who's never been there before and wasn't much for conversation at all. I am a friendly person that is very approachable and very seldomly receive such a cold shoulder. Same attitude with an older blonde lady serving food at the buffet. Again ice cold personality and absolutely no conversation. It appeared these two maybe related. They didn't really care just wanted me to hurry up and order and leave. I didn't feel very welcome here. The roll and cinnamon roll pieces were at least day old bread. I have had a better cinnamon roll from Walmart. The croutons in my salad were the same - old. However the salad lettuce and fixings were all good - except the croutons. If you don't care about friendly service or courtesy but just hungry for decently good food then this place will be great for you. I hope this attitude changes here as they really could have a great thing if the attitude was more friendly and inviting. When you have a restaurant and people walk in and look at them like they are crazy and don't say anything and or completely ignore them -that's a negative problem that's easy to fix and bound to effect the restaurant eventually. I have had the worst experience ever at this place. I walk I the lady at the front counter was rude. She stood there and did not asked if I needed anything. So I asked her to buy some cinnamon rolls since I heard they were the best. She gives me the package I hand her the money and she literally throws the money at me and ask if I needed anything else. I will not return back to this business. Her attitude was so disgusting that she needs to be fired. There was only one lady that seemed to be in a good mood while the other two were sulking around like someone just killed their dog. No smiles, no good morning, nothing. The cinnamon rolls are awesome! Every time we eat there we always grab a pan to go! The hot bar is the way to go. My favorite is the fried chicken and love that the hot bar includes salad bar, rolls, cinnamon roll and potato and side. Good to get there in good time as they stop replenishing the full options. Only offered during normal lunch and dinner hours. The servers are always friendly. Breakfast is always your good all American Classic breakfast. read more
