Food was great, atmosphere was pretty cool and the staff were friendly and helpful! We'll be going back!

We were visiting Joplin and we decided to give this place a try. I liked the food, and the staff member was very nice and helpful. However, the dining experience was not good. First: a cockroach literally walked across our table. The table had been cleaned and nothing seemed really dirty. It can happen but obviously didn't make us feel great about the place. But what really bugged me (ha!) was that the entrées and apps are served in styrofoam carry-out containers. This is for dine-in! I'm sorry, Hungry Monkey, but if I pay $18 for a meal I don't want to awkwardly eat it out of a styrofoam container! It's hard to eat, squeaky, wasteful, and presentation is atrocious. It's stupid. If I got this as takeout and brought it home, I would put it on a plate. That's what I normally would do, because I don't like to eat things out of a carryout container if I have a choice. Not sure why a choice has been made here to prepare good food, and then treat it like it doesn't even deserve a plate. It definitely made the food seem not special at all. Definitely can't see myself coming back here next time I'm in town.

Fresh, fresh, food. We went for lunch and did make your own bowls. All 4 of us were very happy with our choices. Even the shrimp was tasty. They have a lot to choose from and are listening because everyone's came out correctly

Fantastic addition to town. I love that it is something different - Hawaiian. Yummy poke bowls. I had the Monkey Business and my husband had the Sunny Monkey, both with ahi tuna. Super fresh and very filling! You could also make your own bowl. Shave ice is available as well. Menu has lots of other things besides poke bowls that we'd definitely try!

One of me Joplin favorites - friendly staff, flavorful food, and relaxing storefront to make you feel like your on an island vacation. Can't go wrong with any menu option ;)

Pretty Lomi. Light, fresh and delicious. Tuna, tomato and onion and perfect seasoning. Lime and it's amazing.

Wow. What a treasure. Ok.. I'm from this area and the idea that I could waltz in somewhere in the Midwest and feel like I was in Hawaii, well, that's kinda crazy. The kinda crazy good food that the Hungry Monkey dishes up is something you need to taste for yourself. We started with Spam Musabi. Balanced, sweet, and savory - this kicked off our dinner. I ordered the Silly Monkey poke with Tuna and Shrimp, and my husband ordered the Mix Plate with ribs and fish. Our side of Lomi was fresh and bright alongside the sauces and the perfect rice was a warm embrace. Caden, the owner's son, was a lovely chat telling us about their start, his father's amazing sauce-making and insatiable desire to create another fun concept around crepes. So glad we stopped here and enjoyed the first of many dinners. Get here now!!

Visiting here and the food and service was awesome!!! Coming from Hawaii, we weren't sure what to expect....and we were happily surprised. Great portions! The restaurant is super clean! The poke bowl with ahi and salmon was super good and the fish was NOT fishy. Kalbi and garlic shrimp was also super good and they ate it all! Shoyu chicken, Kalua pig and kalbi plate was super moist and tasty. Will definitely be back!

    Poke Bowl

Poke Bowl Top is pulled pork, Sriracha mayo, cucumber, avocado, seaweed salad, wontons, jalapeños. All fresh, incredibly crisp vegetables, pulled pork was cooked amazingly and practically fell apart, Sriracha sauce was nicely balanced went incredibly well with everything in the bowl. Bottom is seared salmon, Wasabi mango, edamame, jalapeños, seaweed salad, avocado, cucumber. Salmon was delectable, especially paired with the sauce. Both large bowls, my husband ate all of his, but it was a lot for me to eat. Not pictured: Spam Masubi, meant to take a picture but ate before it was even a thought. So delicious. Service was awesome! Food came out so fast. The dining area was chill, and the workers talking and laughing really brought it to life. Love seeing workers at a place they enjoy!

This place is amazing. I would say that this is the best meal I've eaten in Joplin.the poke was off the charts good with flavor and texture. The musubi was also delicious. I'm a spam lover but not so much for seaweed. I'm amazed how good they we're together. Also I highly recommend the cheesecake. The portion is enough for two and the flavor is amazing. My new Joplin spot!

First, let me say that I have high admiration for the individual who spits in the world's face and against all odds, advice and common sense decides to open up an eatery. These people are heroes in my book and carry with them a bigger set of balls than the ordinary reviewer - yours truly included. That said, allow me to set the scene. Last week I rolled into Springfield late in the evening with a coworker and checked the little Garman GPS for some local restaurants. Korean seemed to our liking so we followed the voice commands to a dark strip mall whose only sign of life came from the windows of an empty Hawaiian restaurant. Tired and hungry, we decided to give it a try. There was a lack of ambiance with the exception of a few dozen Hawaiian leis stapled to walls. My coworker ordered the Panko breaded chicken strips which were about 70% Panko and 30% chicken. If you have any dental work, I would avoid ordering this. I ordered the Maui pork. Let me try to do this dish justice. If you let pulled pork slowly roast all day in a crock-pot, then moved the pork to a colander and rinsed it under running water for 30 minutes to remove all possible flavor, place it into an earthen pot with warm water, you would basically replicate the taste of this dish. The slaw and macaroni salad which accompanied the dish were bland as well. I did enjoy the steamed rice and my can of diet Dr. Pepper, though. Sorry Kailanis, you just completely miss the mark.

Speedy's specializes in Hawaiian food. All meals are $8 (not 6.99 like on their website) and are made with local, fresh ingredients. I decided to go out on a limb for Taco Tuesday and get their taco's (the cook was awesome and gave me one chicken and one pork) and I didn't regret it. The tacos had a lot of meat (no skimping on the ingredients) and tasted really fresh. Loved the cilantro too. The optional spicy sauce was also amazing. Their fries looked homemade with cayenne and marash pepper and drizzled with honey (very similar to ones I've had at a gourmet restaurant so they were fantastic). I also got a complementary honey roll that was tiny but tasty. The only complaint I had was that they couldn't get my card to scan so I had to pay in cash and the pork taco was a little greasy. A lot of food for the money. I personally think it was worth the price. Generally, a 10/10 would eat again. A gem among food trucks in the area.
