My husband and I enjoy Thai food, so we tried the Magic Noodle tonight for the first time. The parking lot was full and the restaurant was 60% full the entire time we were there, so that was encouraging! The food was average. Not really something you'd want to write home about. We felt that the prices were high for the amount and quality of food we received. The service was slow, but when we received service, it was excellent. Overall, it was just okay. Absolutely the best Thai food that I have very had. Their general magic chicken is the best but the Pad Thai and curries are also really good. Always friendly faces when you come in. You can't miss their iconic noodle bowl in the front of the restaurant. Large amount of seating is always a plus. read more

We stopped by here because they had a giant bowl of noodles on the outside. And when we got in, we found it to be delicious. The staff was very friendly. We ordered 2 appetizers. One was the golden pouch, and the other was shrimp Spring rolls. They were both delicious. I ordered the asparagus lovers with chicken. Lots of asparagus and mushrooms with a brown gravy that was very flavorful. My partner ordered the giant noodle bowl with chicken. It was hugh and delicious. Good food that keeps me coming back for more! I love their soups - sukiyaki when I have an appetite or wonton soup if I just want something small. Their side dishes are also delectable and are fun to share in groups. I've never had a bad experience with the service in the past 3 years of coming here(not sure why other people have had that issue)... but sometimes they can be slow if they are busy. *** Review is during COVID-19 *** The people here are very nice... and everyone I saw was wearing a mask. Even other customers (other than those currently eating inside) came in with masks on! People were seated a socially distanced amount from each other. I ordered ahead by calling and placing the order on my phone. I came around the time they gave and didn't have to wait too long before I had my food, paid, and was out the door. From being in there for a short while, I did like the atmosphere... kind of dark and mood-light-y in a peaceful way. They actually have a pretty large menu! That always makes me happy to have lots of different choices. I ordered the Panang Curry, which I have had at a few different restaurants. It was very good and flavorful. I didn't realize until as I was eating it though, that they never asked me about spice level like I'm used to. I'm not sure if it was just a forgotten question due to takeout ordering via the phone, or if they just don't do that here. I love spicy food and have a pretty high tolerance for heat, so I probably would have gotten it a level or two higher, but I think a lot of people would consider it spicy. Even for me, it had enough of a kick to be satisfying on the spicy front. I got mine with chicken, which was good. They gave a decent amount of it but not a ton. As usual, the curry also came with rice, which was pretty standard. Fortune cookies were in a bucket at the front desk, and I'm glad I noticed them there as I was waiting for my food. Our first time eating there. It was VERY good! Husband got the spaghetti wonton soup, it came in a HUGE bowl, enough for 4 people! Stock full of beautiful veggies, noodles and pork. I had the garlic beef with broccoli and cabbage it came with rice. The brown sauce was amazing and steak was delicious. Both came with a delightful small salad. No, Joplin is not the go-to city for delicious food but it does have some hidden gems and this place is one of them. I've been here twice and I've been satisfied every time. The food is delicious and filling with a great price tag. The last time I went, I got some type of clear noodles with chicken and shrimp. This was hands down the best chicken pad Thai in all of Joplin! My kids keep begging to go back. My family moved here from the PNW and have been sad about Asian food in general here. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always fresh and delicious. I ordered the mango fried rice with beef. It's a loaded plate of well seasoned meat. The veggies are so good. It comes with a small salad. We love the flavor of the dressing. It's kinda sweet. You can't skip appetizers. The dumplings are homemade and soo delicious. The dipping sauce is a little spicy and sweet. The staff are always the same. They work hard and are friendly. You may only see 2 staff out front. Wayyyy over priced. Hot! Little or no air conditioning. The outside, especially the back end of the building smells like sewer and there was water leaking out of the building when we were there last. I've only been here once but I would like to say this is a place I'd order food from again. I got the tofu pad see ew with extra veggies (+$2.00 charge) and a Thai tea. Thai tea is way too sweet in my opinion, I'm also a person who doesn't like extra sweet milk teas. The last time I had eaten here was almost 10 years ago. Figured it was probably time to go ahead and try it out again. And I'm glad I did - hubby and I had really tasty meals! Went on a Thursday night and the parking lot was pretty full. Inside, the restaurant appeared to very clean and neat. The service we had was pretty spotty - I felt like it took quite a long time to get waited on. Hubby and I were with another friend, so we were enjoying the company and so it didn't bother us too bad. However, not sure if the restaurant isn't normally that busy and was just unprepared, but I think 15 minutes before a server coming to take your order is about 10 minutes too long. But anyway, the food. We started off with some steamed dumplings. These were okay. Made with chicken and one of them had a pretty large bone piece in it which made me immediately not want to eat anymore of them. But they tasted decent prior to the bone incident. For my entrée, I ordered the General Magic Chicken which was fried chicken pieces in a super sweet sauce (like tamarind, if you've ever had that) ... My friend got extra sauce because he loves it sweet. Mine was just perfect with the bottom layer only covered in sauce; otherwise, it would have been too much. But it was very good with a nice flavor. Hubby, however, won the award. He ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken which of course I had to sample. It was wonderful! Next time I am for sure getting that. I loved it. Not overly sweet or spicy; just perfect. Now that we live on the right side of town, we will be able to eat at Magic Noodle again without spending a lifetime driving. So I'm certain it won't take 10 years to get here again. I will say as far as Thai food goes, I love Thai Time better, but for convenience to me, Magic Noodle will be just fine. read more
