Roach infested : Hi I just wanted everyone to be aware of my boyfriend and I's experience at phosaigon on 32nd street today. A little roach came out of my food as we were eating. We notified the waitress who tried to tell us it was a fly that came in from outside. She would not let us leave until we paid. Didn't even comp the price of the dish it came out of. Never once apoligized and told us the manager wasnt there for us to speak to. I didn't get the best pictures but you can definitely tell it's not a gnat or a fly. read more

While traveling for work I saw this place near my hotel and came in for some vegetarian pho- they were out of the broth so I went with a tofu bowl at the recommendation of the server. It was amazing! Food is hit or miss. Some dishes are good others are subpar. Cleanliness is lacking. Floors are sticky and bathrooms are filthy. Customer service is lacking. If you order a dish that you are not satisfied with they refuse to remove it off the bill. read more

Don't let the location or the building scare you, its not much to look at inside or out. But the food is authentic and really good. IF you like Thai or Korean there's a good chance you like Vitnamese food too. Some of the menu will feel very familiar as there are lots of dishes that cross over with regional variations. We have not had a bad meal here and we have been able to enjoy Veitnamese in places like LA or San Francisco where expectations are high with many natives and people used to authentic quality. The servers are always friendly and the owner/chef seems appreciate of any compliments or praise which he clearly deserves. I consider this a lunch place but there's no reason not to go in for dinner its just not close to where I live for that. We will go out of our way to go here. The food is lighter and more delicate than the fake Chinese food you find in the mall or at Panda. Its not drenched in sugar to hide it. The cooking is more healthy, delicate and layered with flavors. For those who like hot food there are some but most of the menu is not spicy in a hot way. Try it, its worth and we should support locals who bring Joplin more authentic options and which are not unhealthy fast food. read more

There was only one waiter, so the service was slow, but with one person waiting 6-7 tables, I can't fault the waiter for that. The food was ok. Lots of broth lacking on noodles and raw flank. My experience here didn't last but 5 minutes. The pretty skinny lady at the front was super RUDE. I told her it was just me eating and she grabbed a menu and turned (visibly annoyed) to the kitchen to yell something. I totally get rushing a single customer but I asked for an appetizer while I looked over my entree and she walked away without saying a word. I was almost shocked she didn't throw in an eye roll. I was looking for some good hot Asian food while in the Joplin area. My friend says her family raves about this place, so I thought I would check it out. We came here on a Wednesday afternoon. It was easy to get a table and we were given our drinks quickly. I got the vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce and the vegetarian pho. I also wanted to get the avocado spring rolls, but they were out of avocado. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were delicious. My pho was some of the best I've had in the Midwest. I easily could have gotten carried away by ordering more appetizers (and if I lived here, I would certainly be back). The only downfall this restaurant has is that they appeared to be out of a number of items on their menu (Covid-related shortages, perhaps?)... and the inside could probably be a little cleaner. We had great service and their prices are super cheap. Definitely worth checking them out if you're in Joplin. read more

Something to note! They've moved locations and moved into a much nicer building on E 32nd street. I've only gotten to go at their new location and once when they were in their old location. I haven't tried their pho yet, but I've had the bun thit nuong, which is the bbq pork with vermicelli noodles. It was tasty! This place is owned by Vietnamese family and the rest of the menu seems promising. I would come back to get spring rolls or pho next time. They also sell milk tea/boba. They've got a separate menu from that. There's a place in town called passion tea that sells boba and they sell that here. I guess they work together on that or something. This business is open during this season but I think it might've been better to take it to go. The restaurant is absolutely filthy. Every condiment was caked with sauce or grime. I wiped down the sticky table myself (after it was cleaned) traded out chairs because they were sticky and washed my own silverware in the bathroom with hot water. We would have left at this point but we were driving to Tulsa and really wanted to continue our trip with no more stops. The restaurant was uncomfortably quiet with no music so we were reduced to almost whispering to prevent everyone from hearing our conversation. The food was very good. Great flavor but I just couldn't get past the dirtiness and wondered what was behind the swinging kitchen doors. They did forget to put the chicken on my dish and said it would be 10 more minutes for them to cook it. When the waiter refilled our waters he rested the pitcher on top of our drinking cup rims. Food: great. COVID responsibility: not so great, hence the low rating. 2.5 is where I'd place it. 4.5 for the food 1 for the COVID precautions. In these times I expect a food service location to take extra care. Mind you, I don't know what that back-of-the-house is like, but up front it's pretty mask-free for both customer and staff. Food: To-go orders. Both my wife and I got Bun Bo, our favorite. The broth was spot-on and the meat was tender. Side-vegetables were crispy. I did, though, miss seeing some Thai basil on there along with some sliced jalapeno peppers. The egg rolls were hot and crispy, just like I like them. The fish sauce was excellent. I asked for extra! The staff was friendly, but be aware... other than the one American gal, the Asian staff has less than wonderful English skills. My order came out with only 1 Bo. I had to hang around waiting for the second order. The wait, though, was worth it! Final thoughts? If you don't care about Covid dine in and enjoy the food. If you are vaccinated, get take-away and hang out in your car until your food is ready. If you are not vaccinated and especially if you are "at risk" look elsewhere. This would be a 5 star if we were charged correctly. I have been eating at this place since the old location. This is my second time at the new location and even after correcting him that he charged us wrong he insisted that it was the same price even though he entered the WRONG item. He proceed to tell us that he is very busy. We got the 2 piece eggrolls for 2.50 but we're charged for the spring rolls which costed more. The outside of the building is pretty ignorable as it's in a so called mini-mall lot. The interior of the restaurant is pretty cool, definitely had some eye appeal on the walls for decor. This is the best Pho I have had. The Spring Rolls were great and the Pho was top notch. I had the shrimp pho and I added $2 of chicken. It had so much shrimp and chicken I could barely eat it all. The service was very good and they stayed on top of everything. They were busy and only had two people working in the restaurant. In the mood for some Vietnamese food? A hot bowl of Pho during a cold day or a refreshing rice dish with large portions of grilled pork? THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!! As a Vietnamese person myself coming from a community in California where Viet cuisine is around every corner, the food here is definitely up to par! Considering it is the only place where you can get authentic Vietnamese food in the surrounding area, it is worth a try! The dishes I order when I constantly visit this place is the Pho Tai Chin Nam Bo Vien (Pho Combo #1) and Com Suon Nuong (Rice w/ Pork Chop). I would definitely recommend this place if your in the area. I will say that the exterior of the building looks pretty sketchy/run down and the inside of the restaurant is not the cleanest. They could definitely be better at keeping the place more sanitary but if you can look past that or carry out, the food is the main star. I think it used to be an old fast food restaurant from what It looks like, but they are currently getting ready to move to another location that is brand new and up to date! Side note: The prices here for the amount of food you get makes it even more worth it. read more

This review is strictly referencing the vegan/veggie pho. I hate giving less than stellar reviews but I can not get past the overwhelmingly sweet taste of the vegan pho broth. I've enjoyed pho all over the country and as a vegan chef myself I'm aware of the flavor profiles in a good pho broth. I applaud them for having a vegan option, they most likely are not vegan themselves though because I found the pho inedible. The balance of sweet and black pepper was overpowering. The amount of veggies included was generous however and it included fresh crispy veggies so I will give them that. I did like that they flash fried the tofu as it had a nice skin so to speak however, the chunks of tofu were a bit too thick making the middle mushy. read more

Oh man I couldn't even eat all of mine! The portions were huge! I did order a large but seriously wasn't expecting the amount I received for that great price! Excellent authentic soups, okay service, very good portions for the price. My bun bo hue had the perfect level of spice, half a pig foot, and a congealed blood block that was enormous--authentic and delicious!! I asked for egg noodles instead of vermicelli, simply because I love egg noodles with the broth of bun bo hue, and I also asked for a Vietnamese coffee without the ice.
