Well, extremely disappointed! I have left good reviews here in the past and have been coming here for between eight and 10 years and spend anywhere from $75-$100 a month. Just had a food order that was messed up. Not really that big of a problem because those things happen, we are all human. I had things that were left off my order and didn't find out until I got home and started eating. I called the restaurant back and let them know what the issue was and was taken care of with the promise that they would take care of it. They took my name and he pulled up my order for verification. He said they would replace the missing items when I came back. This was from one of the employees. Very nicely handled. But... When I went back the next day with my receipt, the owner was not in so they could not give me my missing items from the order that I had already paid for. The girl there was nice enough to call the owner. but he wouldn't allow them to make the food. He wanted me to wait until he returned or to come back again. Unbelievable! I've owned several businesses and this is the worst way to handle it. All for about eight dollars worth of food!! If he has long-term paying customers that he treats like this, I wonder how he treats his employees? He does go through a lot of of them. I hope the owner reads this and realizes what a jerk he has been and what a huge mistake he made! Check your order before you leave! read more

Cheap and delicious. Its not high end so don't expect much but its very tasty and fills the gut with no issues.

Pretty good food, kind of lame, leaning rude phone staff when taking orders. We really had no issues with the food quality although it sometimes amazes me how so many different Chinese food take-out can taste exactly the same. That's impressive to me, they must all share details and processes with each other the way Mcdonald's does. So I can't say the food was special, just ok. And we'll come back because we can count on the consistency. We were bothered that several very basic and typical Chinese menu items were not on their menu. That's a little disappointing. But I felt the person who I talked to on the phone could not care if I placed an order or not, perhaps even that they preferred I wasn't placing an order at all. She was dismissive, huffy and short. It made me want to cancel my order altogether. Maybe that was her goal. As I said, we'll give them another try but I hope we don't get the same person on the phone. This is based on a 1 time visit, trying two menu items. The building looks...sus... Like, it's just tucked away and doesn't look like much. I would have NEVER stopped there if I hadn't researched places to go. This seems much more positively reviewed via Google and reviews there. It was a bit warm in there, which wasn't idea but not over powering. (during summer) We placed the order and our food came with soup. It was REALLY good. Lots of flavor in it, and was really surprised how good it was. I got a lemon chicken and it was a mountain of food. I can eat, and I did..and boy was I stuffed. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The other chicken dish was got, was just as good and flavorful. For the price / amount / and quality of the food, we felt this was a great place. The girl taking the order was so rude. She started by greeting us with "go head" and when we didn't respond in time she yelled it again. Then when we asked if the order came with egg rolls she interrupted and rudely said "NO". We drove off and she glared at us as we left. Absolutely disrespectful. I have someone in my family that is overweight. As we were trying to order, the cooks in the back were laughing and mocking the size of him, making gestures and waving because the cook couldn't get around him. The place isn't any better than any other local restaurants, and the dining area is filled with flies. If you want to be discriminated and made fun of, go here. Over all the food here is delicious & hot. We have never had a bad experience to date. We usually order Beef, lo mein, chicken, lo mein, eggrolls, egg, drop soup and a large sweet-and-sour chicken. We live about 2 miles away, and I use my scooter to go pick it up and when I get home it's still just as hot as when I picked it up. read more

Over all everything was good but egg drop soup they used chicken noodle soup as it base & the orange sauce tasted like they put ketchup in it. But the rest was very very good & we live about 1.2 miles away & I used my razor scooter to pick it up. Ordered $30 of food and they left off an order of dumplings. I went back in to let them know and they asked for both my register receipt AND my credit card receipt to prove that I had purchased it. And looked at me like I was some kind of scammer trying to get a free order. Really? Like some of the others have said, they have new owners and the service is disappointing. Even if you call ahead you are still expected to wait in a parking space. Our last trip took over 45 min between placing the order and getting the food. It's good for what it is. The Mongolian Beef and Pepper Steak is very reminiscent of Cantonese stir-fry dishes. Saucy, oily, with a base of chicken stock, onion, ginger, garlic & baking-soda tenderized beef. This is my new go-to for when I miss home. The deep-fried chicken is pretty good for Americanized Chinese food. The white meat is moist and the breading stays crispy. Also super cheap, which you can't go wrong with. read more

My son brought an order of meatless Moo Goo Gai Pan to me. It is absolutely the worst I have ever tasted. The vegetables were over cooked and I could taste nothing but oyster sauce. Wow! For the price and the taste of the food this please is great! We will be coming back. UPDATE: any time I go through the drive through (which has been a lot lately) I am ALWAYS told to pull forward and wait. This wouldn't be terrible but I usually end up waiting a while. One day for example I waited for 20 minutes. Which was tough because my son was tired of being in the car. That's the only downside to ordering from here. Stopped by on our way back to Texas and the food was great!!! We definitely enjoyed the General tso chicken and complimentary soup when dining in. Two local teens were coming in towards the end of our meal and put a really sour taste in our mouths with their flagrant racism towards the owner and his kitchen staff. Threatening "don't make me come back there." Impressively the owner and staff remained professional but just a tip kid don't mess with the people who make your food! lol. Good if you want quick, cheap Chinese chicken entrees. This is a no frills, fast food type of place but they have a super affordable lunch special with drink included. Soup comes with it too, if you dine in. Not the best egg drop soup or crab Rangoon here, but passable. I recommend the hot & sour soup instead. The dining room is very small and gets crowded and loud at lunchtime but the service is actually pretty quick and friendly despite that. I just can't go higher than a 3 star rating because I feel like the quality at Lotus Xpress is more on a fast food scale. Additional note: I've had boba drinks here twice and both were truly terrible. I would recommend Boba Tea House in the Northpark Mall food court a hundred times over. For better quality Chinese food go with Orient Express a few blocks west, but prices are about twice what they are here at Lotus. read more

Our server Branden was quick, cute, efficient and friendly. We walked in at 8:51 with close time at 9 pm and were served with grace. The food was delicious. They are cheap, give you large portions, are fast, and the one time I went they were pretty dang tasty. We got general's chicken and cashew chicken that was as crispy as you would expect with sauces that are less sweet and gelatinous than other places around Joplin. Standard egg roll. Middle of the road crab Rangoon. Hot and Sour soup was more flavorful than Orient Express and Bamboo's but not as good as Fortune East's. But with one soup and two combo dinners for two people we had two large meals each. I'm pretty sure the boba machine is permanently broken though. read more

Waited for almost 30 minutes in the pick up spot. Cashier who took my order was rude at the window, and was again super rude when we went inside to ask about why every car that had come AFTER us had already gotten their food. They replied that we were waiting on potstickers -- I worked in the Chinese restaurant down the road, potstickers don't take 30 minutes to cook. The customer service was horrible and the food was mediocre. After 35 minutes, we finally got our food and decided to not return. I was late to work. They didn't offer to refund us or give us a coupon, or even apologize--the least they could do. While I understand that sometimes it may take time during busy hours to get your food, the workers should always try to be nicer and explain the situation. They acted like it was our fault. We eat here at least once a month because it is cheap! We can eat for about $13-15 depending on what we order because we always pick something different. Usually they are pretty quick, but sometimes they can get busy. I definitely recommend calling and putting in an order for takeout which is what we are starting to do to ensure that we don't have to wait, and they had it ready before we got there! read more
