We used to come here as a family when I was growing up. My parents loved the cashew chicken, but every time I ate here, I'd get so sick. So when my brother proposed we eat here last week, I was a tad hesitant. The buffet used to be larger. It used to have a lot more food on it, but it still had a variety. I'm glad to know they had more than just cashew chicken. However, it was just okay. Service was good, but the food was eh. I also remember it being packed on a given night, and it was not that busy. Very disappointed!! This place was always wonderful then ownership changed several years ago and the food has gone horribly downhill. When previous owners were there we would drive from out of state to eat here. Now I wouldn't walk across a parking lot to eat at Bamboo. The food is EXTREMELY bland and flavorless. This place has been a staple for my family for years, whether we come on random Sunday checks up lunch's or new years dinner it always tastes amazing. Full salad/fresh produce bar and hot food bar, and ice cream machine!!!!! Showed up on a Friday night at 8:20. Was told by 3 female workers buffet is closed at 8:30 and they'll be taking the food down. There were probably 5 tables still eating and getting food at the buffet. Maybe this is standard protocol and not people trying to clean up early and run off customers, but if that's the case, I'd suggest changing your hours of operation which currently say you're open until 10 PM today. read more

TLDR; Bamboo Garden offers some of my absolute favorite Asian buffet style-food. All while being low sodium and extremely flavorful. Now for the long version. The white fried rice is amazing, also the broccoli beef has the ideal flavor (and the beef is perfectly tender to boot!). Those two dishes are not the best part of Bamboo Garden, however. That title belongs to the fried chicken which is served dry. This way it stays perfectly crunchy without being inundated with sauce. You can of course add the sauce to it, as they have the sauces right next to the chicken. Also, other reviews point to there not being many options, however they do have all of the standard items one would expect. I highly recommend Bamboo Garden! read more

Dined in the other night and ordered off the menu. Why?! I don't know, as they basically went to the buffet line and filled my dish from there. I could understand getting the egg drop soup from the buffet line but it would've been nice to have freshly made fried wontons rather than the hard as rock ones. And I had ordered chicken fried rice that basically tasted like the steam rice in a bag with frozen birds eye mixed veggies thrown in as they we still somewhat cold. I know this place has been around for eons and Carthagians have gotten used to mediocre Asian food that if they actually had really good fast food Chinese food they wouldn't know what to do. And yes there are really good fast food Chinese food restaurants out there. read more

We went with the family and had seven people it was $9 dollars for each person and with drinks it was like $13 bucks per person and our total came out to $103 and you know how you are supposed to leave a tip they didn't even ask and added the tip to our total and it was a half buffet only to stations for food so I don't recommend going here read more

The staff was friendly polite and helpful but the food left a lot to be desired. This is a buffet style restaurant, so I have no idea how long the food had been out before we arrived. The egg rolls were cold, flaccid, soggy and in all other ways unsuitable for human consumption. The crab rangoons were utterly revolting, the strawberries spoiled and the chicken was somehow dry and soggy at the same time, though I don't know by what wizardry they accomplished that. We stopped in here after a XC meet. They were accommodating to myself, the other coach, and our 9 athletes. They have a clean restaurant with clean restrooms. The buffet was well stocked and clean. I liked their crab Rangoon and sweet and sour sauce. I also liked the variety of chicken dishes they had that were not just cashew chicken. The lunch buffet price was reasonable. Our server was great and attentive. Over all, we had a great experience and will definitely come back if we are in town in the future! read more

No egg rolls no crab Rangoon and only general tai chicken with chicken chunks to make sweet and sour or cashew. One choice of rice. It was the oddest thing I have seen. Three stars and falling...fast I'm sorry folks, but while the quality of the food and table service remains quite good, I have to give a negative review. I have been a patron of this restaurant for 6-7 years and it has long been my favorite and ONLY Chinese dining choice. The problem that I have notices over the last year or so is that someone is being very stingy with food quantities available. Like NO shrimp or fish available on my last visit. The previous visit was nearly the same. I was ready to give up when the owner came out with a paltry few shrimp to place on the bar. Being stingy is NOT the way to build your business, especially when it comes to a buffet. A really great buffet has many choices and well maintained quantities. I live in the area, about 20 miles out and Bamboo Garden has long been my ONLY choice to visit in Carthage. That may soon be changing, because who wants to walk away disappointed because a menu item wasn't available because someone was being stingy.
