I would have NEVER stopped there if I hadn't researched places to go. This seems much more positively reviewed via Google and reviews there. It was a bit warm in there, which wasn't idea but not over powering. (during summer) We placed the order and our food came with soup. It was REALLY good. Lots of flavor in it, and was really surprised how good it was. I got a lemon chicken and it was a mountain of food. I can eat, and I did..and boy was I stuffed. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The other chicken dish was got, was just as good and flavorful. For the price / amount / and quality of the food, we felt this was a great place. Just had a food order that was messed up. Not really that big of a problem because those things happen, we are all human. I had things that were left off my order and didn't find out until I got home and started eating. I called the restaurant back and let them know what the issue was and was taken care of with the promise that they would take care of it. They took my name and he pulled up my order for verification. He said they would replace the missing items when I came back. This was from one of the employees. Very nicely handled. But... When I went back the next day with my receipt, the owner was not in so they could not give me my missing items from the order that I had already paid for. The girl there was nice enough to call the owner. but he wouldn't allow them to make the food. He wanted me to wait until he returned or to come back again. Unbelievable! I've owned several businesses and this is the worst way to handle it. All for about eight dollars worth of food!! If he has long-term paying customers that he treats like this, I wonder how he treats his employees? He does go through a lot of of them. I hope the owner reads this and realizes what a jerk he has been and what a huge mistake he made! Check your order before you leave!

My last employer had the same theory while another one did not believe in a 5 star employee at all. So I hope Golden Dragon does not mind my 3 stars. It was ok, met expectations, and performed it's job. But really thats about it. We had not tried this place since moving to Joplin and want to give everywhere a try over time. First the location inside and out could use some dressing up, it was rather plain and missing the effort at better decor most restaurants strive for. Ambiance can go far in helping you qualify expectations. This is mostly a buffet joint but they do have a menu too. We tried the buffet. The soups were ok, better than others we've had in town and good marks for the crab lagoon and the many vegetable options. Where I was disappointed was in both the limited nature of the buffet and I felt most dishes were rather plain, many tasting too similar. Also some dishes like egg foo young were just made wrong, they were more like scones with no egg taste or visibility and most places that make them include some sprouts. These were just doughy fried bread like balls. Last, the owner (I think she was the owner) needs to learn some customer service skills. She was berating her employees over how they processed an order and went on and on tearing them down out at the front counter. Take it in the back please, thats a really turn off. I don't think I'll come back in here for a long time but if I hear they step up their game I'll consider it. There are plenty of other, better options in town.
