I love their pho. I always order mine with chicken and I add every single item that comes on the plate plus a little Hoisen & chili garlic. My friend ordered vegetarian pho w/o tofu. It was really packed with veggies. I wish I'd had a few of those in my bowl! . ... Not that mine wasn't good. It was wonderful! I just really like veggies & not as much chicken. I've only been to Pho Saigon once so far as this is their first week in business, but I'm pretty thrilled to have a Vietnamese restaurant in Joplin! I went with a group of friends and we tried a lot of different items on the menu. We checked ahead of time and knew there were no vegetarian options. That ought to change right away, in my opinion, as I think a lot of people who go out of their way for Thai and Vietnamese food are vegetarian, pescetarian, etc...but I won't knock off a star for it either. We all liked our food very much. The noodle dishes looked great to me. I had their six inch mixed banh mi and it was good especially for the price, with really nice crusty-and-chewy baguette. I really enjoyed the traditional spring rolls as well, and their coffee was nothing fancy (not Vietnamese coffee) but it was cheap and strong, so I was pleased. I'm not a pho lover but my friends who ordered it proclaimed it had excellent flavor. Service was okay if a little bit slow (it's table service but there was no checking for refills on our drinks). Again, it was very early in the game and the dining room was very busy. Our server seemed to be doing her best. There was also a considerable line at the register to pay checks on leaving. I'm pretty sure they will work out the kinks with this sort of thing, though! I look forward to returning to Pho Saigon soon. read more

So my son and I sometimes like to have a "Dad Day" where we hang out all day skip school and have fun. Today we went Canoeing and I decided to take him for some pho. Neither of us had ever had it but we both really liked traditional Japanese Ramen and this is supposed to be pretty close. We ordered egg rolls for an appetizer and they were pretty good. They were extremely fresh and the outside was crispy/flaky in a pleasantly suprising way. Now the Pho. We both ordered the pho combo #1. Pho Tai Chin Nam Bo Vien, beef noodle soup with rare and well done flank and meatballs. His was a small and mine large. It was pretty good although ive never had pho so I dont really have a point of refrence. The noodles were cooked perfectly and everything had a light flavor that was good but not overpowering. Personally I like bolder flavors but this was nice. I'll probably come back and try something different. My son liked it as well. 2 entrees 2 drinks and an appetizer $24.50 read more

The food is usually good but the other day we went & the soup tasted like boiled water & the died red punk hair lady was mad at another girl that works there cause she didn't do her list of stocking napkins and spoons and other shift obligations. Well first, the service was mediocre. Wasn't greeted with a smile. Checked on us once. And again no smile or even a "you're welcome" when thanked. We were the only diners there. She must've been the owner. Do not order the pork with vermicelli noodles or the rice dish because the pork was extra thinly sliced and flavors were not good. Both dishes should've came with fish sauce but only gave us one. It's like they were being stingy with the fish sauce. My child didn't even eat her pork because she didn't like it. The pho was bland. We are Vietnamese and the food was just not good at all so it was a disappointment. The egg rolls were ok, again gave us about 2 tablespoons of fish sauce with that. Their menu is quite small for a viet restaurant. Being the only Vietnamese restaurant in Joplin, I feel sorry for the people who actually think it's good. You all obviously have never had REAL, flavorful, and fresh Vietnamese food before. What they serve as viet food in this small town is actually embarrassing. Next time, drive to Springfield if you crave Vietnamese. Food there is ok but better than what I had here. Or go to Tulsa or KC if you don't want to drive more than 3 hours. But even better, go to St. Louis or OKC. Make a visit if you are in the area. They have authentic food there. read more

Got an order of fried egg rolls (just OK) and an order of Hue Style Beef Noodle Soup. Everything was quite good except the "meatballs". The meatballs were some processed meat paste. It they actually spent a little more and actually make the meatballs it would be so much better. read more

Wow! Good food in the neighborhood! If you like Magic Noodle or Kinnaree this eatery may be a pleasant addition to that pallet. Vietnamese menu that has a little less heat and more subtle flavorings unless you specify otherwise. Primarily vegit offerings with beef, pork or chicken proteins to add. Rice, noodles and soup style dishes. It is not Chinese thankfully, just a tasty variation on Indonesian lunch and dinner staple food. Priced as you would expect fresh, authentically, cooked-as-ordered menu items to be. Friendly, clean family vibe. Hope Joplin will support this endeavor. When food arrived the little child of owner /wait staff come to the table. She was only 3 yrs of age. Stayed and played with little figures at our table. She was not at fault. But started caughing. So I am driving down to get my daughter a subway sandwich and what do I see on a snowy day? Pho Saigon! Yes Joplinites, there is Pho in Joplin. And get this Banh Mi!!! Do I sound excited? The vietnamese butter and pate compliment those pickled carrots and daikons. The roasted pork and ham? Forget about it!!!! Its there and lovely. I wouldn't call myself a "foodie" but I am a food enthusiast and enjoy good food. I've had a lot of pho in my years from cities such as Dallas, Kansas City and Los Angeles. Additionally, I've had Pho from the mother land itself, Vietnam, and my own Mom's homemade Pho (we all know nothing beats homemade pho). The slogan at Pho Saigon says it all in the name, "It's Pho-King good" and is just as good as my mom's pho. read more

This is my favorite place in town! I am a high school student so money is sometimes an issue, but the prices at this place cannot be beat for the amount of food you get and it is my go to restaurant in town. The pho is amazing and you will not be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and always serve your food with a smile. My only complaint about the restaurant is it seems a little bit dirty. I know they are moving to a new location so hopefully that will be fixed when they move. The only reason I did not give Pho Saigon a five star review was because of the cleanliness, the food is to die for. I think it would be better for business if they cleaned more. My wife and I use to really enjoy eating here when we had the chance. The ambience has never been great but the food was great and the restaurant was clean. We just ate there and won't be back till they clean up. We had a cockroach crawl across our table and as we left their was a cockroach on the wall behind the cashier/next to the entry to the kitchen. The place looked closed when we parked in the parking lot. I almost assumed someone had mistakenly left the neon "open" sign on as they left for Christmas vacation. Fortunately, Pho Saigon was open and we were able to enjoy some hot Vietnamese soup on this cold winter's day. The broth was decent, though I missed the aromatic flavors of basil I've grown accustomed to being served along with the bean sprouts and jalapeños. Without my favorite flavor, I couldn't give a higher rating. Those that don't use basil in their pho would likely rate the pho and this establishment a four or a five. I ordered delivery from here this evening, and I had the best spring rolls I've ever had! The Goi Cuon Bo (Avocado Spring Rolls) were so fresh and full of flavor even after I had them delivered across town. I also tried the Bun Thit Nuong which was vermicelli noodles with charbroiled sliced pork, and it was incredibly delicious. I was unsure of what to expect as I haven't eaten much Vietnamese food, but I imagine that this restaurant is as close to the real deal as one might get here in southwest Missouri.
