I've been to First Watch several times. Initially, it was a hit or miss but over the years, I've come to love them as a brunch spot in Joplin. The service is always fantastic and they are extremely patient with my family who has a lot of dietary restrictions. Food-wise, I loved their frittata, especially with their sun-dried tomatoes. The kale juice is also amazing. Their veggie burgers are mediocre -- not my favorite because their patty tends to be dry. Overall, its a great place to take family who have different needs for food haha so I give it a 4/5 stars. read more

They definitely have speed and customer service skills on another level at this place Craving the Carrot cake pancake with ham and bacon...(big kid probs) and I was hungry... It was tasty!!!!! They fixed my hunger! All our food came out hot. Party of 8!! The staff got our group of 8 order out fast and accurate. No drinks went empty. I love that you can tell the ingredients are always so fresh at First Watch. I also love that they have such a great diverse menu. Whether you are trying to eat healthy or have specific dietary needs, First Watch has you covered. And all of it is amazing! This location cooked everything to perfection. I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but we were starving and got to eating to fast! Both my grandkids LOVED the chocolate chip pancakes! The food also came out super fast! Typically the food here is really good. The farm stand tacos are my favorite. The chorizo omelette is really good too. Last time I was there I ordered the veggie omelette and the eggs were super undercooked but, I gave it back to the waitress and spoke with the manager and they removed it from my bill so I can say excellent service. I'm going to go there again and reorder the veggie omelette but I will request that it be well done. I do recommend this place, great atmosphere, great service, and great food. We were so excited to see First Watch coming to Joplin. We have enjoyed them in Louisville and elsewhere. It was our favorite breakfast place when we lived in KY. The one in Joplin is spot on and has everything going as we hoped. Great food, great service, hipster clientele comingling with families, truckers and travellers. It's​ hard to review a place we go to so often in other cities. and I've reviewed before. my greatest fear is that they would dumb down the menu or get rid of all the healthy choices for a Midwestern rural​ town. Happily, they did not. My wife and son ordered the kale smoothies, for some of us the mere mention of kale sends shivers of disgust through our stomachs. This one is actually good, you feel good drinking it and it doesn't​ taste like your being punished. My wife also​ ordered the million dollar bacon and a banana nut pancake (1 will do, they are giant). They have​ real pure​​ maple syrup and the bacon was peppered​ and maple flavoured​ and just perfect. I had cheese grits and bacon & avocado omelette​. Both were exactly as expected, taste, well prepared, not dried out. It came with thick whole wheat toast that tastes like someone baked it at home. If I had a complaint it's that every restaurant that serves breakfast and gives you toast always spreads a tiny bit of butter on the inner edge of the toast and leaves the rest of the toast plain. Whenever they do this they do not include butter on the table. What happens? Look across any restaurant and it's​ the same, a couple of bites out of the middle of the bread and the rest of it left as waste on the plate. This bugs me on several levels. 1 I don't​ need you to decide how much butter I want on my toast. 2 either butter it like you would at home or not at all. Why do restaurants​ do this? It's​ stupid, annoying, wasteful and for a place that prides itself for being green your forcing people to waste food. Why do you think this is a good idea it's not. Besides that little​ rant, I love First​ Watch and we will​l continue​ to go here for breakfast. Yes,​ it costs a little more than other options, if you want Denny's or Waffle House quality and prices go there. If you want a really good breakfast pay a little more and go to First Watch. read more

I've been to First Watch in KC area & my wife has a few times in Tulsa, so we wanted to try it out here in Joplin. What a welcoming spirit our waiter (Mark) had when we arrived. Stopped here on our way through to Illinois. We are a family of jokesters and he played right into it. I wholeheartedly agree with the overall consensus here so far...great food, service, and high quality...but higher prices to match. That's not the end of the world by any means, but will definitely limit my visits to "special treat" category rather than making First Watch my every weekend go-to spot. Today when I visited they had a seasonal item, Summer crab omelet, which was absolutely phenomenal, packed with crab, corn, and red peppers. I wasn't fully prepared for the avalanche of Hollandaise, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't finish every bite! The mixed greens with a lemony spritz on them are absolutely perfect with such a decadent entrée and I genuinely liked the artisan toast even though my expectations weren't too high...it was chewy and had real flavor, and I loved that they didn't drown it in butter like most breakfast spots. It actually seemed like the amount I'd spread on my toast at home. My first visit here was with my senior dad who was apprehensive about some of the more trendy options on the menu.
