Joplin MO. We found this wonderful breakfast spot by name "First Watch.....The Daytime Cafe". At first you think.....oh...one of those breakfast places that are all very good, but all alike. Nope. This place is definitely a notch above. We both ordered a single blueberry pancake. Wow....extremely light in texture with the blueberrys in the batter and served with a bottle of hot maple syrup in addition to some blueberry compote. Lynette had a side order of sausage links that were very good, but my order of Million Dollar Bacon was the ultimate breakfast fare. Four slices of hardwood smoked bacon baked with brown sugar; black pepper; cayenne and a maple syrup drizzle. Cayenne on bacon? I know what your thinking, but it actually blended in with the sweetness very nicely. I was in bacon heaven. The service was very good, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very nice, kind of what you expect from a typical breakfast place, but maybe just a little nicer. This is definitely a must try if your in the Joplin, MO area. read more

I was visiting family in Joplin a few weeks ago and wanted a hearty breakfast before hitting the road for the trip back home. So when they recommended First Watch I had to dive in! We ordered the to go breakfast for 4. It included GENEROUS portions of scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, toast and chopped fruit all with outstanding flavor! We served 3 people generously and the portion sizes could easily feed 5 with the amount of leftovers we had, though it became a nice snack for me to nibble on throughout the day. The cost was reflected appropriately in the high quality ingredients, portion sizes and above standard packaging. It was beyond expectation! When I visit my Joplin family this will be my go to breakfast spot! But until then, I look forward to visiting the OKC location that is closer to me! First Watch is becoming my favorite breakfast spot! Brought our newly college graduated son with us today. I had the Hacienda Hash...it's new and delicious!!!! Had a little bit of a kick with the spicy ketchup...but the creama comes it down. I had to order the toast because I LOVE their toast. My son got the burrito with Barbacoa....and he said it was amazing. He also got the Watermelon Wake-up and it was super delicious (but I've also been on a watermelon kick). We stopped there for the first time and were impressed. They're a little pricey for this country boy but they do use quality products. They brag about cage free eggs but that doesn't mean the hens are out eating bugs in the pasture, so that isn't much of a deal to me. However, when the eggs come to you with butter melted on them, you know you'll have sonething tasty. The whole grain toast was really good and Deb said her waffle was wonderful. The menu has something for everyone from the health conscious eater to the fat guy like me who loves to eat. The only thing I would recommend to them is a little stronger coffee. This spot is a go to for my girls and I.... We went Sunday, gave them our name, got the confirmation text regarding the wait and sat outside to enjoy the sunshine... Having been told it was a 15 minute wait I wasn't too concerned at the 25 minute mark.. At 45 mins I went in to check, all parties after us had been seated already. The Histess gave us some cock and bull story and acted as if we had WE had done something wrong. I showed her the text, but the attitude was the same (blaming it on the tech). To make up for it we were seated right by the kitchen.. I got us moved, thankfully. The Server was fabulous! The food excellent! The hostess should have sent a Manager over... There is a small spin on every aspect and they have a large focus on healthier/lighter options. The water comes in a self serve pitcher so you do t have to wait for refills. The traditional breakfast meals are all there but each has its own unique twist. The biscuits and gravy, made from turkey sausage, was phenomenal.
