We actually came across this the same night as we ate at that other "not so hot Korean restaurant" located across the street from them on Ashley Road. This place is definitely more of a fast food Korean joint, and at the time, it wasn't what were in the mood for when we had first spotted it. We thought we'd give it a try since we were out shopping and wanted a quick bite to eat and well, with a name like that, who can't love it, right? Wrong!
The place wasn't very busy as compared to when we had seen it at dinner time. It's literally a walk up and place your order, fast food sort of place. The chairs are numbered and correspond with your order. The seating is tightly packed, so going with a bunch of people isn't a good idea, as the tables and chairs are better suited for one or two.
Hubby and I ordered the dumplings (mandu) $34HKD/$5USD and the Kimchi Jun (pancake) $70HKD/$9USD. We were hoping the jeon was going to be better than our last attempt. Again, we were disappointed. While it was better than our last jeon, it still was just ok. The dumplings were small and tasted like they were the frozen ones you buy from the supermarket. I'd definitely pass on this one next time. I also see they have locations in Central and near Causeway Bay but I'd rather give the Korean takeaway at CitySuper a try before eating this again.
If you're down for quick, cheap and don't mind if it tastes good, you probably will become a fan of it. I guess it's what draws the crowds? Honestly, for me, the only thing I really liked about the place was it's name! I was so surprised to see the reviews afterward but I'd much rather pay a couple dollars more and receive better tasting Korean food that I truly enjoy! read more
