I came here on the last day to redeem a groupon, so it was pretty full! It's a spacious area, however some of the two seaters are annoying because there's only one exit from the booth. There are different tiers you can choose from: A. U.S.A. Beef & Sashimi Course ($178) B. Premium U.S.A. Beef & Sashimi Course ($198) C. Australian Wagyu & Sashimi Course ($298) D. Japanese Wagyu & Sashimi Course ($378) I got the All You Can Eat Japanese Wagyu beef & sashimi Course. (90 minutes time limit) The beef was pretty good quality, somewhat melt in your mouth. Sliced rather thin, so I would dump the whole blob in. They also came with pork which was also sliced rather thin, A-OK. They gave us chicken as well but I didn't have any. It looked juicy and tender which is rare in hotpot. There's also a number of soup base you can choose from and I picked the Garlic Pork Bone Broth. I didn't think the flavour was particularly strong and the refill was just with water. The sauce was your typical Chinese hotpot sauce with soy sauce, seasame, spring onion, coriander, garlic, chilli, etc. It did come with a "plum" sour sauce, which was NOT ponzu. This was rather disappointing, however I have yet to come across a Shabu Shabu which has good ponzu in HK. But this sour sauce was just unacceptable. The soy sauce was extra salty too. I usually don't have to mix it with broth but this time i did. Also they're supposed to provide shredded daikon in Shabu which was missing :( There were a variety of vegetables (bok choy, wintermelon, squash, tofu, fungus, corn, mushroom etc) and some beef/fish/squid balls, etc, noodles. Although I did not try any of the balls or sashimi so I did not comment on those. However I wouldn't have high hopes for it. There are canned and boxed drinks available (even beer!) Wide variety of dessert looked and tasted mediocre. The Green Tea mousse lacked green tea flavour, the green tea ice cream was OK but you can tell it was low quality ice cream, the milk pudding was OK. There was also chocolate fondue and various cakes. I also didn't like how they didn't provide a stock simmer to scoop up the fat. Although I did not specifically request for one, but most Hotpot/shabu places usually give it to you. Decor was new/nice and toilet was clean too! Not sure how long that would last though. *** Tip: Come hungry! They have "happy hour" before 7pm which is something like 20% off! The meat is better than the other food, don't come if you're not a beef-lover Favourites: Good quality meat. decent price to get you filled Meh: desserts and sauce. No ponzu (proper) and no daikon Last words: Good Meat, Bad Sauce. 3.5 stars. Easy fixes though.

One of the joys of traveling in Hong Kong - - you'll pretty much find good food everywhere. And…read morewhen you are traveling with some foodies who have lived in Hong Kong in one point in time of their lives, you know you're in for a real treat. After having dinner, we made our way back to our hotel and walking along one of the main streets of Electric Road, my cousin spots this tofu pudding shop. We're quite full from dinner and needed a stroll to help settle all of the food we just ate. But that doesn't stop him. He looks at the sign from HK$10 (US$1.28) for a bowl of tofu pudding (hot or cold) with either ginger syrup or simple sugar. He downs a bowl at ease and tells us how good it is. For me, I really wanted to try it but was still full from dinner. Luckily, I can read some Chinese and immediately saw the sign "For takeout, add another HK$1 (or US 12 cents)." So, I tell the staff I'll take one for the road. This little shop is just across the street from the hotel I stayed at so I could easily come back but decided to just eat it in the hotel room later. I noticed a few stools for dine in patrons. Seemed somewhat cramped but this type of food is meant for quick consumption. It's a quick eat and run so the turnover should be high. There are quite a few options to enhance your tofu pudding experience. First of all, you can have it served hot or cold. In addition to the simple sugar and ginger syrup, they also have red beans, mung green beans, black sesame, almond or coconut milk and tapioca options. They also offer soybean milk, which is a very popular drink in Hong Kong. Service was above average. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. Overall, a great find during our stroll after dinner. A bowl of chilled tofu pudding would help combat Hong Kong's muggy weather. This is a great snack or dessert that doesn't make a dent your wallet.

Most indoor restaurants don't allow dogs but the owner of this Sweet Tofu (or literally in Chinese, Tofu Flower) did, and she was super friendly and even recognized our furry friend. 阿一豆花 serves up the silkiest tofu dessert, made fresh every day. You have a choice between various toppings, starting at a very affordable HK$10 for your traditional tofu with yellow sugar, and tofu with ginger soup. Then HK$13 for your next range of tofu with choice of evaporated milk, red bean, barley, sesame (芝麻) and almond (杏仁). I ordered the tofu with sesame (芝麻豆花) served cold and it was just PERFECT. Super refreshing in the cold summer! Full stars because it's so darn good and close to work, to home, and gym! Score!

That being said, I always get nostalgic coming here, taking the escalator up and sharing a table with someone else in the morning. My favorites are the shumai and egg rolls. I think they always get me egg rolls here since they know I like them-- and they are long and come in a glass cup with a little doily or napkin. They're filled with taro and are piping hot and I can't eat too many (in front of my family) because it is too "yeet hay". We got the chicken feet spare rib rice this time, which was very greasy, came with only 1 chicken foot and mostly rice and barely any soy sauce for the rice. However, the spareribs were good despite being oily. I love turnip cake and they like water chestnut cake as well, and while I don't prefer the latter, it was actually pretty good and not too sweet here. We also got cheong fun and a chicken bundle, which were ok. Porridge is also ok and quite plain. The food here is ok to good, depending on what you get. I remember seeing some sa yong or Chinese sugared donut here, but I'll order that next time. Price-wise, it is cheap. Not gonna lie. I enjoy the walk here with my grandma and I think the food is made better with good company, so I hope I can continue coming here a lot.

The setting is casual. Tables are small, they are cramped to ensure the most efficient use of the offered space. There are no proper chairs, you actually sit on small metal drums. When you are led to your table, the staff will inform you that you can only eat for 90 minutes. Service is quick and efficient. Even on a Saturday night the staff will help you to cook for you and give you advices when the meat etc. is ready. They change the grates once it gets burned. This is great service. Food is exceptional good! It emphasizes on Beef, Pork and Seafood. For a carnivore this is paradise. The beef is offered from all kind of different cuts, marinated or non marinated. My favorite is the marinated beef short rib. It is tender, juicy and the taste is great. Some more exotic parts of the pig are also offered which include skin and intestine. Kimchi, Lettuce and Sesame leafs are replenished free of charge. Make sure to order some Korean beer or Sochu to accompany your meal. This place is inexpensive, making it great value for money!
