Every dish is ordered a la carte, and depending on what you order, it could get quite pricey. We opted for the set menu "C" for 4 people at HK$1,250 (approximately US$160) which included: -- A large variety of banchans which were actually quite similar to what you'll find in most Korean BBQ places in the US. Personally, I'm not a big fan of banchans but I did like their version of potato salad and kimchi. The kimchi wasn't too hot and spicy like some other ones that I've had, so for me, it was good. -- Korean raw beef plate (see picture). I can't remember its Korean name but it's the equivalent of a Carpaccio. This was da bomb and was the star of the night. It was absolutely fresh, beefy, flavorful, and delicious. Tip: Dip it lightly in the sauce so it won't overwhelm the natural taste of the beef. It was not exactly raw like Carpaccio or steak tartare, as you could tell from the edges that it's been quickly charred and seared before it's sliced. This's actually the way that I like and prefer. This was beyond yummy and it was so memorable that two weeks later, I can still remember what it tasted like as I am writing this review. -- Three dishes of raw meat for BBQ which included beef ribs, pork and scallops. We were so tired that night that none of us wanted to lift a finger to BBQ and it was such a relief that our server offered to cook for us. That was awesome. The soup noodles were meh and really nothing special, and the portion was rather small. My only issue with this place was that the portions were really small - even by Hong Kong's standard (which is infamous for tiny portions). The soup noodles, when divided into four bowls, were literally 2 soup spoonfuls of noodles for each person. The portions of the BBQ meats were also quite tiny. Moreover, I suspect that they didn't know how to do basic math - the pork plate came with 3 slices of mushrooms (see picture) and the scallop plate came with 6 scallops - and this was a set dinner for 4 people! It looked more like a take out kind of place but we saw tables in the back and started to enter the shop, but the floor was so greasy, we were seriously thinking about making a 180° and skip this place. I don't know if it was the look on our faces or that we were a bit better dressed then the uncles in their white tanks with legs propped up on stools or what, but the kind lady proprietor suggested we eat at their "nicer atmosphere" dining room a few doors down. The dining room greeted us with nice A/C and floors our shoes had better grip on. The food is ordered here and they will prepare the soup, noodles, drinks, etc. but all the siu mei still comes over from the other shop. The roasted meats we're tender and tasty, no lie. I'd say even skip all those starchy fillers and go straight for the roasted proteins. The portions here are very generous and we felt a little guilty leaving some pieces uneaten. Hong Kong definitely has no shortage of siu me shops and I'm glad the tasties they offer remain classic and unchanged. Looking forward to finding new gems.
