Unfortunately, his staff, not so much…read more I'd explain further, but I've already today spent enough energy re-explaining something blatantly obvious to one of his staff members, and I'd prefer not to repeat myself (again). Not sure his name, but he kept raising his voice, almost threatening. [10:15ish] I came on time for the appointment but the door was locked. I knocked multiple times. [10:21] I was let in the waiting area, checked in. [10:45] this guy, working under the doctor, tells me I came in at 11:26. Late. And I'm looking at my watch thinking, man is this guy in the future? So I corrected him, his voice raises. So I ask again, what time did I come in? [to be continued]. It's 11 o clock, still have yet to see the doctor. ===EDIT/UPDATE=== [continued... @~11:15am] Dr Manning threw a Hail Mary ftw. I'm already otw out of the building. Touchdown. Originally, we were going for another Memorial Eye Center location and we both individually have new insurance carriers and was trying to find a place that would fit both our schedule to go together and also would be covered under our insurances. THE STAFF: Amazing, front desk personnel for all the people we encountered. Everyone answered all our questions regarding our insurance coverages and even more questions we had concerning what wasn't covered. We both had different people doing our initial exam and both the male and female (Asian- for me, I didn't get her name) were so sweet and kind. We tend to ask a lot of questions and every staff member didn't give us the "I don't care quick answer" like many other places do. They didn't treat us like a number either. Kudos to the front office staff!! That definitely set the tone for our visit. DR. HOLBROOK: OMG! I'm going to be honest. We didn't choose Dr. Holbrook originally. She just happened to be the Dr. available on the day/time that we needed to go together and it fit our schedule. THANK GOD! What a true blessing in disguise. Dr. Holbrook was the cream, icing and frosting on top! She made our entire experience a pleasant one! I have been changing eye Doctors for the last few years since my insurance didn't cover my original doctor of many years and never quite found one I was happy with....until NOW! I find with the multitude of new doctors out there, their bedside manner seems to be lacking. Dr. Holbrook doesn't fall in that group! She was extremely thorough, patient, honest and downright sweet!! What more could we ask for? She was so patient with so many questions we both had regarding our individual eye health. We both have slight anxiety over our general eye health and not only was Dr. Holbrook patient and thorough at explaining everything but she was very reassuring and comforting which eased our nerves. Even though we were the last appointments for the day, she never rushed us or tried to end the appointment . We truly appreciated that. The other thing is that I had other doctors in the past worry me over glaucoma issues etc. and she put those nerves at ease. I've never met Dr. Holbrook or the staff before our appointment or gone to any Memorial Eye Center locations before today, but I can certainly say that we will be going to Dr. Holbrook and this center here on out! She's amazing! If you're lucky enough to get her then DO!!! If not, this place, and staff is GREAT and they have state of the art equipment. Ps mask is required at all times, like most medical offices.

I noticed on the receipt after paying that they included a $45 warranty without telling me. They just said there was a warranty, I did not realize I was paying extra for it. I was in a hurry and should have paid more attention. They did give me an extra bit off because I did not have insurance. Ask for the printout of the cost first if you go there.

    I've been a patient at this location for years. Even after I moved and it became less convenient, I…read moreeventually returned to the Wilcrest office because the staff and doctors had always been professional and efficient. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. In the past, wait times were minimal. This time, I waited over 30 minutes in an extremely cold exam room. The temperature was unbearable, it felt like a refrigerator. I had a sweater on and was still uncomfortable. Later, the doctor mentioned that the AC was broken and moved us to a different room with a space heater. If the AC issue was known, patients should not have been left sitting in those conditions for that long. The doctor I saw was new to me, and the interaction was disappointing. During the vision test, when asked which image was clearer, I explained that both appeared blurry and I couldn't see the letter well enough to determine which was better. Instead of working with that feedback, she repeatedly insisted I choose one based on brightness. Since neither looked clearer, I eventually gave a random answer just to move forward. It did not feel like my input was being heard or taken seriously. That was how the whole exam went. When I asked questions, they were brushed aside. The overall tone felt dismissive and condescending, which made me uncomfortable. As a result, I did not feel confident filling my prescription there. I have valued this location for years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Based on this visit, I will not be returning.

    I had a less than stellar experience at this location. I was less than 10 minutes late to the…read moreappointment, which was completely my fault, but I called ahead of time to let them know that I would be late. I'm grateful they did not reschedule me, but that was one of the few bright spot from my appointment. The technician working the front desk was maybe the rudest person I have ever met. As soon as I walked through the front door, she passsively-aggressively informed me that guests are given a 10-minute grace period if they're late to their appointment. Thanks for the information; I was still within that 10-minute window, so I'm not sure why she felt the need to convey this to me. And as much as she complained about my tardiness, I was in the waiting room for well over 30 minutes before I went through the initial screenings. So I doubt I impacted their tight schedule. Unfortunately for me, that same technician would be performing these tests. I have never had such an unpleasant experience as the retinal imaging test. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open for the bright flash, so instead of waiting for me to get in the proper position and guide me, her approach was to yell at me for not keeping my eyes open and continuing to blind me with the camera without any warning. That was a stressful and pretty awful experience. If the owner of this business reads this review, I really hope they fire that technician. She is rude, condescending, and has zero customer service skills. After that, I waited at least another 30 minutes before my optometrist examined me. Dr. Kong was very nice and thorough, so I appreciate her care. However, that technician and the wait time alone are the causes of this one star review.
