Create your own masterpiece bowl... Fantastic!
    Dana C.

Nestled into the corner of an unsuspecting shopping center is the delicious Hunan House! The restaurant is super clean and the staff are so sweet, attentive and helpful! I have not explored their kitchen menu yet, I always build-your-own bowl and watch them cook it on the flattop. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the BYO bowl. You choose your protein (or not), your veggies, noodles, mix-ins and sauces! Voila!! Perfection! Each bowl comes with a cup of soup, white or fried rice, and a crispy wonton sweet bite. If your eyes are bigger than your tummy and you can't finish your bowl, they will happily send it home with you. The restaurant's atmosphere is casual and laid back, the menu is fairly priced and you definitely won't leave hungry!

Satisfying for our cravings, flavorful food & medium spicy. Thanks to Jack, Kelly & the Hunnan Chef's for making us happy!

Completely forgot my rice from my combo plate. Never had a bad experience before, this just makes me disappointed.

We have been going here for years now and always have great food at a reasonable price. Always fast service and great lunch deals where they will load your plate up ! For sure the best Chinese food in Galt.

We ordered through Door Dash, but everything was fresh and still hot. We really liked the food and will definitely be ordering again. We also ordered egg rolls, but they have a weird taste to them.. I can pinpoint what the taste is but it doesn't taste like Chinese egg rolls.

Not like I remember. Food tasted like it's been fried in old oil. What a waste of money

I'm sorry to say, but the food here is horrible, and the service isn't very good either. They do have a bar though. That's probably okay.

I ordered a wor wonton soup, 2 orange chicken plates with chow mein/fried rice combo with egg roll. When I came in the restaurant I was greeted by staff and they had my food ready. The wor wonton soup was phenomenal and the flavor was phenomenal. The wonton, chicken, shrimp, veggies and the broth was everything. My wife and mother in law loved their food. The orange chicken was the start of the dish. The ambiance is customer service friendly. The menu has some great selection on the menu. A great place to go to for Chinese food.

The inside is very clean with a beautiful salt water tank that holds breathtaking fish. Let me get to the food, I did a pickup order which included a combo plate with honey chicken, fried rice and chow mein. It was a nice sized serving can't complain about that. The fried rice was just okay, a bit dry with more oil taste than anything else. The honey chicken is deep fried in a thick batter but there's no real honey taste to it, not to me. The chow mein was also just ordinary, nothing that sets it apart from any other chow mein. Greasy and like it had been sitting all afternoon. On the bright side the potstickers were delicious although a bit greasy as well. Last was the best part of my order, honey walnut shrimp. Looked more like prawns to me and with a lot of meat. Slices of pineapple and the candied walnuts with the mayo based sauce that was so yummy. I suppose I'm just waiting on a Chinese restaurant to wow me and no one has been able to thus far. I have to keep trying restaurants until I find the "one".

Just enjoy spice and it's very flavorful. Definitely pre order again. Bbq oysters were great, the sauce they put in top is fantastic. Sizzling house hot plate, lots of vegetables and the waitress does it right in front of us. I was too busy eating my delicious crawfish and didn't get to record it. But it was great. Sesame chicken was the right amount of sweet and sesame. We also ordered the Hong Kong style chow main because we love the crunchy noodles, just the right amount of sauce and flavor and the chicken wing, very crunchy and the kids loved it! They finished it before I get to have one. Definitely will go back again with the family. Staffs are friendly and answered all our questions. Great work team!

There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside, and the indoor space is beautifully done with vaulted wood ceilings, exposed beams, warm lighting, and comfortable cushioned seating that makes it easy to settle in. The chairs were genuinely comfortable, which is not always a given. From what we could see, the outdoor seating looks equally inviting, especially with the string lights, open views, and waterfront setting. I can imagine it being especially nice at sunset or on a warm evening. We started with potstickers that tasted homemade and were excellent. They came out hot with a flavorful dipping sauce and disappeared quickly. For drinks, my partner ordered a lemon drop that was bright and well balanced. I asked for a whiskey sour, which wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make one for me. It was decent, though not as memorable as the lemon drop. For dinner, we ordered General Tso's chicken, snow pea chicken, and rice. Both dishes were outstanding. The General Tso's sauce was perfectly executed, flavorful without being overly sweet, and the chicken was tender with a crisp coating. Even the broccoli was cooked just right, still slightly crunchy but fully done. The snow pea chicken had a lighter, savory sauce and was equally well prepared. Service was attentive throughout the evening. Our drinks were refreshed promptly, the food came out in good time, and a woman who appeared to be one of the partners stopped by our table to check on us personally. She was warm and engaging and mentioned they serve the best Chinese food in the Sacramento and Delta region. After the meal we had, that claim felt justified. Even the restrooms were clean and thoughtfully maintained, which is always a good sign. Between the quality of the food, the comfortable setting, and the inviting Delta atmosphere, this is absolutely a place we would return to. We don't give out five stars lightly, but this one earned it.

That said, this experience needs to be shared -- especially given the complete lack of concern for customer experience and food safety. I'm visiting the area for the weekend and decided to grab soup dumplings with a friend. It was our "cheat day," so we ordered about $60 worth of food, which wouldn't have been an issue if it had been edible. We ordered two lunch combo plates, pork bao buns, and pork and vegetable dumplings. Food review: I ordered the General Chicken lunch combo. It tasted nothing like expected and was mostly thick breading covered in an overly sweet sauce that was supposed to be spicy. The rice was honestly the highlight of my meal -- though rice is hard to mess up... or so I thought, considering how sick I am while writing this, and that was mostly what I ate. My friend ordered the orange chicken, which looked and tasted exactly like mine--again, mostly breading. Her chow mein was cold in the middle, which made it seem like it was microwaved. I'm not usually nitpicky, but this was already turning into a bad experience. The pork bao buns weren't as bad as the rest of the food, but once we got to the "dumplings," we stopped eating altogether and threw everything away. The dumplings we ordered came out as steamed potstickers. I wish I had taken a picture--they looked awful. We gave them the benefit of the doubt since this place is literally called Dumpling House. That was a mistake. I took one bite of the dumpling with the sauce provided (soy sauce with chili flakes), which masked the taste. On the next bite -- without sauce -- I immediately noticed a horrible flavor. I smelled the dumpling and it had a rotten odor. At that point, I was completely done. When I got up to wash my hands and walked toward the bathroom, I took a closer look around. I noticed tin serving dishes that staff appeared to be eating directly out of, and a "wrapping" station set up on a table with wrappers laid out and a container of wonton filling just sitting there at room temperature. I don't know how long it had been out, but my friend mentioned it was there when we first walked in and assumed it was fresh. We were seated for about 30 minutes, and the filling remained out the entire time. Pork should absolutely not be left out that long -- and clearly, based on what we experienced, it wasn't safe. I've now spent the last six hours sick in my hotel room. Not only do I feel awful, but I'm also missing out on activities I had planned for this mini trip. Dumpling House -- please do better. Please care about your customers' health and safety.
