First I must tell you that I did a pickup and ate at home about five minutes after picking up. I ordered the special California roll and the cucumber salad. The fried California roll I was not impressed with, the tempura fry on the outside was very thin and almost seemed not done. The avocado inside was not fresh and the crab mayo mixture on top was tasty but I felt it was there to cover the taste of the roll. What a disappointment! The "FISH" in the sushi has no FLAVOR. Why ?? It has been FROZEN and DEFROSTED and FROZEN. We frequent this restaurant and consider it to be a great go to for quick sushi cravings. The quality is decent, but service could be better. Each time we call in for a take out, we're given a time and the order is typically always 5-10 mins late upon our arrival. Not a huge deal. But on our final visit, we made a relatively large order, and after arriving 10 mins late after the suggested pickup time of 25 mins, we were told our order was given to someone else. If you're seeking for a sushi craving and a cheap quick fix, here is the place to go. I've came here twice and was content every time. It's not the best sushi I've had but it's affordable and edible. The sushi rice were more on the firm side and vinegary (I prefer my sushi rice to be more soft and savory), sushi rolls almost all tasted the same, and the quality of fish was the surprisingly fresh and made up for everything else. I ordered the Bad Boy Roll, Lion Roll, Hawaiian Roll, and the Spicy Garlic Edamame. I might have enjoyed the Hawaiian Roll the best, it was plain and barely had sauce, but that's why it stood out because it didn't taste like the others. We had just moved in to This smaller town and wasn't expecting much in the way of sushi. I was very pleasantly surprised by Matsuyama's. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They accommodated my daughter, wife and myself vet satisfactorily. The rolls were beautiful and made with very fresh ingredients. My daughter loves the fresh salmon and pickled ginger!
