Currently my favorite Lodi sushi place. We've been coming here much longer than we've been living here, and the quality has remained consistent. We can usually depend on it being busy as they offer a small dining area with limited tables outside, so when we do walk in we do so prepared. They do have a reservation system but to my knowledge we have not used it. We just walk up and greet the staff person at the door to check in, and they tell us what the wait is like. If it's over a half hour we usually kill time in Raley's. It's usually not longer than a 20 minute wait. If you are a large party, things might get cramped, but I've seen them pull it off with gusto. We've never had a party larger than four and it's been great. I really like the folks who work here. And the food is great too. They have a few tvs and a little sushi bar at the back, and the noise level is about average depending on how many children are dining with their families. Komachi has a dedicated vegetarian menu and I've tried most of the things on it. I love that they have marinated shiitake rolls, my fave of the standard veggie sushi innards. Yummy! My favorite rolls on the menu are the Garden Roll (steamed asparagus, avocado, cucumber, kanpyo, and shiitake), Shittake Maki, and the Rich Jumbo Roll (fried asparagus, fried onion, avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber). Appetizers I have tried and enjoyed very much include the Agedashi tofu, fried brussels sprouts (I have to remember to have the fish flake removed from this dish though), and of course, wakame (seaweed salad). They do have ramen, donburi, bento boxes, teppanyaki (the tofu one I look forward to trying soon!) and salads as well if you're not in the sushi mood. I like their seasonal drink menu, featuring wine, soju, and beer. Komachi is also reasonably priced. Yeah, pretty much everything I'm looking for when me and my boo are craving sushi. I want to start off by saying I/we've been coming to Komachi for years. The food is always fantastic. Service is generally great. Last Wednesday, our server said something really rude and I don't even think he realized it but it was jarring enough to lower my rating for this visit. I'm sure next time will be back to normal as long as that young kid gets some training on hospitality. The food was fantastic as always. Saying to a customer who asks about an item that passed by their table- "you can't order that it's only for regulars or people who've been coming here a while" is not welcoming or polite and I'm shocked to be saying this about one of my favorite restaurants in town. read more

Had higher hopes for Komachi Sushi but food and service fell short. They offer a wide variety of rolls which was fun to choose from, but the slices of fish on top were very thin so the flavors of each roll were overpowered by the sauces. We tried the Candy Cane, Donny's Roll, Omega-3, and Komachi Spicy Tuna. I will say I did like the pop of acidity from the lemon slices on top of the Omega-3 roll. But overall felt like the sauces were doing most of the heavy lifting rather than letting the fish or individual ingredients stand out. read more

The service is always excellent the atmosphere is awesome with indoor and outdoor seating available. We went today for lunch and were seated quickly even though they were busy. Everything is always fresh. Probably one of the only places around I will eat uni from. The uni here is always soooo fresh and tasty. We've never been dissatisfied with anything here. Date night with the wife. I've heard good things about this restaurant and they are true. Very busy but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes. It was a cold night and seating was only available outside. However, their set up is very cozy with space heaters and complimentary blankets at each seat. We started off with drinks and Yakitori appetizer. The chicken was well seasoned and tasty. For our main course my wife ordered the hot Ramen soup which she liked a lot. I had the omega 3 and flaming dragon sushi rolls and they did not disappoint; my favorite was the Omega. The papaya sauce was delicious. I look forward to coming back to Komachi. For the bento box my mom order the chicken teriyaki, pork katsu and salmon teriyaki. She said the katsu sauce tasted ok but she tasted better sauce elsewhere. My bento box, I got the salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and fried goyza. My only complaint for the bento would have to be not enough teriyaki sauce. My dad ordered the tonkotsu ramen. This is always my go to spot! Whenever I'm craving sushi. The service was quick. It was already busy after opening within the first hour. Ambience was cute, we got seated outside and they had blankets for us to use if wanted. I thought that was very considerate. We ordered two bento boxes. Chicken katsu, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki for the main dish and had other things and then ordered code 3 and flaming dragon. Everyone should try the code 3 . It's a must. The only concern I had was the calamari. It was very tough and very hard to chew. Other than that, the flavor was there and the presentation. I didn't think it was a big deal, but wished it was more tender. To be honest this experience ended up being super unexpected & a pleasant surprise for a dinner/meal. I was looking places up on Yelp, and this one was 2nd down list when searching Sushi, probably for distance from where we were when searching. This place had over 1K reviews and an overall rating in the 4's. That's not a coincidence in my experience using this app over the years. The main reason out of the many this spot gets 5 stars was our server Jorge. This guy was insanely good. He was super calm, cool, & on top of everything with perfect timing yet without seeming overbearing. Hard to pull off. They had blankets on their chairs outside, nice touch, hook, line, & sinker my wife with that one. Now the food. Calamari- Nice portion size. Most places deep fry theirs, this place didn't, it was fried but not deep so you could taste the chewyness of the squid. Stuffed Mushrooms- These were 4 fat breaded fried mushrooms. There's some sweet sauce topped on the mushrooms, it had great texture & taste. The mushroom stuffing was really good. Flaming Dragon- This roll was awesome. It came on a long plate that had salt on the bottom, the roll wrapped in foil, then lit on fire. Wait about 4 minutes, then they unwrap it. It is all about the food here! The chefs have been going on and I had some of the best sushi ever and I have been around the world trying sushi. I strongly recommend the double Alba roll for a spicy tuna experience. It was just phenomenal, so much so that I bought one to go as I was signing my bill I need it for breakfast the next day. Amazing. Surface was good, it's a team effort so don't expect one really good server just a lot of different servers. Prices were reasonable but again, this is five star sushi. We walked in on a Tuesday evening. A few friends and I decided to try komachi. It's been years since we've been here and wanted to check it out. We were greeted fairly quick, and seated quick. Our order was taken fast and the restaurant is small inside, but there was outdoor seating as well with propane heaters. We shared appetizers which included fried calamari and spicy garlic Edamame. My favorite Japanese restaurant in Lodi! We always come here to celebrate special occasions. Even friends from Sacramento make the drive just to eat here! The fish is incredibly fresh--like the uni, which comes straight from Hokkaido, Japan. You can really taste the quality. One of my must-orders is the Ika Shioyaki, perfectly grilled and seasoned. And if you like a little kick, don't miss the Flaming Dragon roll, sooooo good! Their Bento Box is also a standout. The staff seemed uninterested, it took forever to get help, and the overall experience just wasn't welcoming. The food also isn't what it used to be. It's not terrible, but it's definitely mid-tier and doesn't justify the prices anymore. There are much better sushi places nearby with better service and better quality. The food here is Ho hum...it was ok. I went with my husband and parents for lunch. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer. It came out way over cooked and rubbery! I took one bite but couldn't finish it. We told the waitress at the end about it, her reply was "I'm sorry". Guess what, we were still charged for it! I never had a restaurant do this in the few times we have ever complained about the dish. I thought it wasn't in good taste (no pun intended) to not take it off the bill. The jalapeño bombs are sliced jalapeños filled with cream cheese and crab meat, breaded in panko, and fried. They were nice and crunchy and didn't skimp on the crab, which I appreciated. However, they were lacking flavor. The jalapeños were very mild, so there wasn't much heat or overall punch. The restaurant is located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us multiple times. Inside seating is on the smaller side, and it can get quite loud during the dinner rush, making it less kid-friendly. Award Winning for sure. We had a wonderful evening at Komachi Sushi. A little of a wait, even on a Tuesday, at dinner time. The staff were very tentative. Outside seating had numerous heaters with little blankets on the backs of each chair. They're are sooo many food option to choose from. We ordered miso soups, Spiderman, GSW, & Candy Cane rolls... everything was delicious. Loved my cocktail which was light, refreshing, & slightly sweet...I think it was called a Ruby Rose. While waiting for our food, the lady next to us had Spicy Ramen & her spouse had Bulgoli Beef...I almost followed the delicious smells over to their seats. My friend and I arrived around 7 pm on a Friday night, so it was a packed house, and all that was left was either bar seating with little elbow room or outside dining. Uhhh, who goes to a sushi place and ONLY gets 2 rolls?! Especially HER!! Well, read up, lol! These aren't skimpy rolls by any means. When we first walked in, we almost sat at the bar, but opted for a table instead. On our way back outside to wait, I passed a couple who had a gargantuan roll on their table. I asked what it was because I had NEVER in my life seen such a beautiful monstrosity! I was intrigued and stared at it as I walked out. The guy said it was the Spiderman, and that's when I knew I HAD to have it. That roll is 100% the largest I have seen. You really have to see it to believe it!! They don't call it "XL Size" for nothin', that's for sure! The Flaming Dragon was such a delightful roll. Jorge lit that baby up for us. We watched as the flames slowly died out, and when he opened the foil packet, it was like Christmas morning!! It goes without saying that Komachi Sushi is top tier in my book. I had sushi for lunch earlier in the day, but I was glad to have it again for dinner. You cannot go wrong if you come here. I would happily fly to Sacramento and drive the hour to get here just to have this again!! Prices are well worth it. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was outstanding and clearly made with care. We started with the beef wrapped asparagus and Brussels sprouts, both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The black pepper tuna tataki was next and honestly could have been a meal on its own. Fresh, well balanced, and executed perfectly. The kushiyaki menu really stole the show. The yakitori chicken skewer was juicy and flavorful, the butabara pork belly was rich and perfectly grilled, and the ebi shio shrimp was simple but incredible. Each skewer was spot on. We also ordered the combination sashimi which was extremely fresh and beautifully presented. To finish, we shared a few rolls. The Cowboy, Code 3, and Flaming Dragon rolls were all excellent, with great textures and bold flavors without being overdone. From start to finish, everything was top tier. My wife heard of this place from her cousin. We usually go to M-Bistro for sushi, and we love it there, but wanted to try a new place. We ordered their fried calamari, the tempura plater, The Flaming Dragon, The Midnight Roll, and The Spiderman Roll. Everything was really good. The Flaming Dragon comes out wrappex in foil and gets lit on fire at your table. When the flame dies the waitress opens it up for you. It had a charbroiled taste. It was delicious. I would've given it 5 stars except for as expensive as it was, we get better tasting sushi at M-Bistro, and it's cheaper. Firecracker was delicious and on the sweeter side with the mayo they used. Philadelphia roll could have used more cream cheese but still solid. The Spicy pork could have used more flavor 7/10. The Black Tuna Tataki Sashimi appetizer was super flavorful I wish I had a side of rice to have eaten with it. The food was made quickly so we barely had to wait.
