True Mediterranean food. My Israeli boyfriend approves. It was delicious. Went for lunch and the prices are good for what you get. They have Israeli beer options as well. I got a sangria and it was super refreshing. Server was super cute and friendly, good service. Inside is super cute. For dessert we got Malabi which is a Mediterranean flan, super yummy. Highly recommend. Loved it.

The falafel laffa wrap was absolutely delicious. The falafel wasn't crispy anymore but the flavors were so good and the vegetables were fresh. Would definitely recommend this place for a casual lunch.

Hummus Kitchen was so good! I'm visiting New York and wanted Mediterranean food, and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the humshuka which I have never had before and it was amazing!! The pita bread was so fluffy and tasty and was great paired with the hummus and poached egg it came with. This was part of their brunch prix fix menu, so it came with the appetizer trio that included grape leaves and cauliflower. The cauliflower sauce was amazing and paired well with the zest of the cauliflower. I wasn't the biggest fan of the grape leaf one but that's a personal preference. Lastly, our server Joanna was amazing!

This was an audible to our original plans for dinner and I was so glad we came to Hummus Kitchen for dinner. Awesome quaint restaurant with minimal but effective decor. Loved the restaurant logo on the wall made from cement grout. Service was also wonderful. We ordered chicken shawarma tacos, veggie hummus, and my chicken shawarma platter with rice. All the food was delicious. Have to say the standout was the hummus with veggies. The roasted beets were incredible. The seasoning on them was so good. My wife and daughter who are normally not adventurous eaters loved eating here.

Really enjoyed brunch here since you get a mezze trio with your main dish. Also, there's some interesting brunch dishes that aren't on the regular menu. Such great Israeli food! Fava Mazze: Hearty beans and nice sauces. A really substantial appetizer. Cauliflower: Roasted and lightly pickled. It was decent, but it's still cauliflower. Stuffed Grape Leaves: Really loved how this got fancied up with fresh pomegranate seeds and a tangy herbal sauce. Plus, tasted fresher than those really dense grape leaves that are made a long time ago. Humshuka: This was the perfect choice for me. I wanted to taste the shakshuka, but I also wanted the signature hummus. This was mainly hummus, with some nice tomato stew swirls. The egg on top was kinda weird though since it wasn't runny, just pasty. But egg aside, great for sopping up with the fluffy fresh pita breads.

Once again, a marvelous meal here. I didn't even know that they have brunch! But they do! My son-in-law and grandson were in town to go see Tosca at the Met. We needed a place not too far from Lincoln Center and not too far from our apartment. This was the perfect spot. We arrived around 1:15 without a reservation and all tables were taken inside. But they have a small enclosure on the sidewalk in front so we pushed the 2 little tables together and it was fine. Back to brunch...I often get a falafel "taco" platter or shakshuka. Both here are excellent. But on the brunch menu they have a humshuka, which is a platter of hummus and shakshuka with just 1 egg on top. Your choice of whole wheat or regular pita. SO good! Son-in-law had the sinya shakshuka, which is with beef, and with it came a miniature challah loaf! He had a beer as well. The brunch special includes a small 3-section dish with an appetizer sample. This was one stuffed grape leaf, 2 pieces of their excellent roasted cauliflower, and a luscious bean salad. Everyone ordered the special. Grandson and husband had something we've never seen before, I think it was spelled jeneh or something like that. It was a rolled up kind of slow cooked bread, served with a brown egg, some pickles, Israeli salad and tahini. Not satisfying enough for my husband, but I was stuffed and was happy to share some hummus and pita with him. We didn't think that particular dish was worth the price, but live and learn. Service here is always good and so is the food!

Quick and attentive service! We ordered the Hummus Kitchen, Shawarma Tacos, Shawarma Plate, and Shakshouka. Warm pita bread came out with the hummus, a perfect vehicle for the 4 different types of hummus (sirloin, chicken, tahini, and original). The shawarma was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I like how the taco came with an array of sides: baba ganoush, hummus, pickles, salad, and tahini. Overall a fantastic dinner!

Wow was really blown away with the quality and amount of food here! We came for the lunch special- one of us got the chicken shwarma and the other got salmon. Both were absolutely delicious. The salmon had the perfect sear, while the chicken was juicy and flavorful and came with a delicious sauce that really took it to the next level. The special also came with a cucumber/tomato salad, hummus, mujadara and warm pita bread- all were so fresh and flavorful. My only complaint is that it was a little pricey, especially when compared to other lunch specials- I believe it was around $18-22? However, the quality and quantity of the food made it worth it for me! I had enough leftovers for almost another meal

Great hummus, delicious falafel laffa sandwiches and also the schnitzel is really good too. This was a beautiful restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine. The interior was warm and cozy with art on the brick wall, pretty lights hanging from the ceiling. There was a digital menu with photographs of the food offerings. For the appetizer, I got try my friend's Baba Ganoush and pita bread. The Baba Ganoush was creamy and tasty, while the bread was soft, as well as fresh. I ordered Grilled Salmon, served with veggies and rice mixed with lentils. The Salmon was lightly crispy, tender and well seasoned. The rice was perfectly cooked, while the veggies were tasty and fresh. In addition, I tasted my friend's schnitzel, which was lightly breaded, crunchy, and full of great savory flavor. For dessert, my friend and I shared the Kadij Kitchen and Loco Morocco, which was chocolate mousse cake, with coconut and whipped cream. I loved the Kadij Kitchen, which consisted of halva parfait on shredded phyllo dough, topped with halva ice cream. This was simply delightful, with delicate spun halva, flaky dough, along with a sticky velvety smooth ice cream that didn't seem to melt. The taste was not too sweet, yet very satisfying. The Chocolate Mousse was also yummy, rich in chocolate and creamy goodness. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. I would definitely return to try the Moroccan Fish or Beef.

Came thru for Easter brunch -- and per Passover guidelines, everything was gluten-free. This meant no pitas (a bit sad, but understandable) -- those were replaced by matzah crackers and some sort of unleavened bread. While the gluten-free counterparts didn't live up to little pillow clouds we would have otherwise been eating, the mazze accompaniments were FANTASTIC. We ordered a trio of the fava beans, Mediterranean salad, and baba ghanoush. All delicious. Plus hummus mazze thanks to the Yelp check-in deal (love a good check-in deal). For my main, I got a falafel laffa & the gluten-free wrap tasted quite standard. Falafel was a tad dry but the wrap worked well overall, especially when smothered with the tahini sauce. I was a massive fan of the pickles too. Service was very friendly & great interior decor! I would come again on a non-Easter weekend! read more

Really great service for a table of 6. One of our guest is gluten-free and the menu had a lot of options and the server was kind enough to offer vegetables for that person to enjoy the many dips and spreads (since they couldn't have the delicious pita). Small restaurant but didn't feel crowded. It had something for everyone and was a great choice for dinner before a 7:30pm off broadway show. Food was great too! read more

Delicious dinning experience. Omri gave us fantastic service. The food tasted like it came straight out of Israel, which is exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend the lemonana (Israeli blended lemonade and mint, the most refreshing beverage on earth). Love the shawarma "tacos" (it's just two pita halves with chicken shawarma and it's delicious). Will be coming back! read more

I came here for dinner on a Friday night with a friend. We had a reservation but the restaurant was not too busy at 6:45 so we were able to freely choose where to sit. We decided to sit outside since the evening was beautiful and the street was very lively so it was fun to sit in the outdoor area to people watch and enjoy the nice, fresh (covid-safe) breeze. We were promptly helped by our kind server who directed us to the menu and was very informative when it came to our questions about what to order. I did a yelp check-in which surprisingly was rewarded by a free small mezze size hummus which I decided to get with both regular and whole wheat pita so I could try both. For our food we ordered: Hummus: it was free :) !! with Yelp check-in, of course. But this was a very tasty dish to start with. The hummus was very smooth and flavorful. It was decorated with chunky garbanzo beans as well as a drizzle of olive oil and the perfect amount of paprika. You could get a good taste of the tahini lingering at the end which was amazing since it is clearly very high quality tahini being used here. Pita: to be experimental, I decided to order both regular and whole wheat pita which I think was a great decision. The regular pita is fluffy, warm, and brings that familiar comfort of good mediterranean food. The whole wheat pita had a bit of a more dense but thin texture and great flavor (probably one of the best whole wheat pitas I have had!) It went particularly well with the hummus and felt very healthy. Baba ghanoush: wonderful mezze dish to order if you are a fan of eggplant. It was very creamy and had the smoky flavor that is a staple of this dish. Also went very well with the whole wheat pita and, as I later found out, also with pickles. Mediterranean chopped salad: a classic, refreshing dish. Had a good balance of olive oil and lemon and salt as well as nicely chopped tomatoes and cucumbers. Cauliflower tahini pita tacos: This dish was an amazing deal in my opinion! If you are a fan of cauliflower, I 10/10 would recommend this. It comes with two pita tacos filled with this wonderfully baked cauliflower that is well seasoned, crispy but not oily at all, and it is topped with tahini, a mildly spicy sauce, and cilantro. In addition to that it comes with small sides of the mediterranean chopped salad, baba ghanoush, and hummus which are great to spread over the tacos as well for some extra flavor. Also came with small side pickles which I really enjoyed! This might become my new go-to order at Hummus Kitchen. I felt like it satisfied a lot of my cravings in one dish with a very generous portion that was filling but that felt very light and healthy! Overall, had a wonderful experience here. The ambiance is very nice, location is 10/10 since it is in a busy, lively street in Hell's Kitchen, wonderful food, and very customer oriented service! read more

**vegetarian review** My friend and I randomly found this place and decided to try it out. Gosh no words I'll use will really do justice to how incredible this place was! We got the lunch specials - Green Shakshuka, Falafel, Hummus platter, Tabule, Turkish coffee, and mint tea. The lunch special is basically $15 for one main course and one mezze item. Our overall bill was around ~50 which is so damn reasonable! Now onwards to the food - Green Shakshuka - omg I generally love shakshuka, but the game here is so much stronger. The spinach added a delicious twist to the basic recipe and the bread it was served with was so so perfect! Tabule - very standard but so effective. This was my favorite mezze. The right refreshing bite with all the others relatively heavier dishes Falafel, hummus platter and pita - the falafel was so fresh and not at all oily. It was crunchy in every bite. The hummus obviously was excellent! and the pita - oh boy I am happy I dont live close by because I would order those all the time. Turkish coffee and mint tea - My friend lived in mid-east before and the coffee was so nostalgic for her. Personally I dont drink coffee but I appreciated the strong flavour of the mint tea!! Delicious. Went with my girlfriend on a Tuesday at 7pm during COVID. Restaurant was empty and we decided to sit outdoors since we had the entire place to ourselves. She ordered Pitas tacos style ($17), I had the Mediterranean Red Chicken ($24), and we each got a sangria ($9). Portions are great. Massive bowl of Boneless chicken, red peppers, lemon, cilantro and garlic simmered in a red sauce in a hot pan with a side of majadra rice. Very flavorful. Her pitas were also great, came with 2 that were massively stuffed and also comes with babaganoush, tahini, and a cucumber salad in small ramekins. Highlight was also the bread that comes complimentary - so fluffly, soft, airy, and delicious. We got seconds of that bread since it was mouth watering good! Highly recommend if you're feeling healthy and wanting some mediterranean food! Will try the hummus next time haha read more

I recommend this place completely if you love authentic Israeli plates like their perfectly creamy hummus and traditional fresh salads! I got the Hummus Kitchen platter, to try a bit of all the flavors, and adored the beef hummus. Will for sure be returning to just order that! The falafel was also fantastic, very similar to the falafel in Israel!! 10/10 recommend. Also very affordable for the amount of food we ordered. read more

Visitor from ATL and ordered delivery. Got Dolmas, hummus and chicken and falafel. Order arrived quickly and hot. The hummus and chicken had such incredible depth of flavor that my daughter and I just couldn't stop eating it!!! The dolmas were delicious and the mint sauce on top was perfect. My falafel was some of the best I've ever had! The tahini rounds out the flavor combinations and I definitely ate more than I should have. The homemade pita is a must! Only issue was that no napkins or utensils were included and we're in a small hotel with no restaurant. read more

Established in 2008, the Hummus Kitchen located on 9th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen is a hidden gem bringing out the highest quality Mediterranean-Kosher cuisine to New Yorkers and it didn't disappoint. My partner, his family and I came here for an early dinner on a Monday and got seated immediately. It's a tiny little place but very charming and the music seductive with a mix of Mediterranean and Folk. Our server was Sophia who was very attentive and friendly. From the menu, one can choose from different varieties of hummus/laffas/mazzas, and the mazzas, which are basically the sides to the dish. As a Yelp elite, we started out with a complimentary mazze hummus topped with whole chickpeas, spices and extra virgin olive oil accompanied by pita bread. It was a greater starter to the meal, deliciously tasty and hit the spot. For entrees, we ordered Shakshuka Classic (Mediterranean tomatoes, peppers and onion stew. Served with two eggs over easy with Moroccan Frena Bread, Cauliflower Tahini Pita Taco (2 halves pita filled with cauliflower tahini, served with hummus, babaganush, chopped salad, and tahini paste), Falafel Laffa Hummus, chopped salad and pickles, topped with tahini and the Chicken Kebab Platter (Tender chunks of chicken marinated with chef`s own blend with rice.) The food was amazing, flavorful and worth a repeat performance which highly recommend this place. read more

A bit crowded, lesson learned you need a reservation especially Sunday at lunchtime. The mezze was served with the Shakshuka was fabulous. The pitas were amazing the challah was warm and fresh. Wonderful eatery for meat and vegetarian lovers. The service is exceptional and the portions are big. The food is delicious. Some items in the menu do not list all the ingredients. If you have food allergies make sure you are certain that there are no Foods which you cannot eat in the dish. We ordered the Beets & Lentil dish. While eating it we noticed distinct soapy taste. Upon asking the server if they put cilantro in the dish, she checked with the kitchen which confirmed it is not in the recipe and it might be due to cross contamination. We were not convinced. We went back Monday and the chef told us that he DOES USE CILANTRO in the dish. The restaurant offered me a credit after I had to ask for one. I hope the owners read this review. Because everything else was wonderfully delicious and I recommend if they they fix this for the future. read more

I came here a few days ago with some friends and to be honest I never liked hummus until I came to the Hummus Kitchen. We came for dinner. The hummus is delicious and fresh, we shared a hummus kitchen (four tyes of hummus: chickpea, tahini, fava bean and mushroom). The mushroom hummus is one of the best things ever. We also got a couple of entrees and shared, chicken couscous, seniya and falafel laffa. The chicken couscous has a wonderful sweet flavor and the falafel laffa hits the spot. I agree with the other yelpers who say the falafel is a great, another mediteranian stapple I was never crazy about until the hummus kitchen. However the seniya was not my cup of tea, the lamb and beef combo was weird to my palate, however our waiter Paul told us it was a very popular dish and my friends really enjoyed it. The ambiance and music was really good, the small restaurant is intimate but it can get a little too crowded. Make sure you don't have too much stuff with you when you come. The molten chocolate cake (dairy-free) is scrumptious, so save room for dessert. Although since it is baked fresh expect at least 10 min to be tacked on to your dining time. (It's like waiting for a soufle at a french place, well worth the wait.) Also if you are into interesting cocktails and unique beer definitely check here. They have mediteranian versions of cocktails, the mojito, the pommetini. Also what I drank a yummy lemon arak (frozen lemon mint alcohol mix which you can also get sans alcohol). Plus they have an Isrealli beer Gold Star that tastes like a refreshing light lager. To start off I would like to say that the food here is some of the best Mediterranean food that I've had. I have no qualms about that and would recommend it on food alone. The waitress, Marilyn, was very sweet and helpful as well. HOWEVER, and this is a big however, the management at this establishment is horrific. We were sitting in the middle of the restaurant, which is pretty small, and heard nothing but the manager, Noah, yelling at the waitresses from her regal perch at the rear table where she was eating. She was trying to train a new waitress. OK. That's nice. Throughout our meal she kept yelling across the restaurant and over the other patrons. Unacceptable. When my boyfriend commented on this she flew over like a harpy from Hades, and began yelling AT US. Now, I spent 9 years in the customer service industry and I know people can be annoying or a pest, but you keep it to yourself and be polite. Especially when you are then manager of a dining establishment. She told us we were being unreasonable asking that she not yell and keep putting her arms in front of our food. Noah kept telling us that "Israelis are loud and it's part of my culture. Why are you telling me not to be part of my culture." This woman could benefit from being committed. When we asked if she was the owner, she claimed she was despite the fact that she is not and we will be getting in contact with him. So long story short, if you like Mediterranean food, I would eat here. If you value your ears and dining experience, go to one of their sister locations and not the one in Hell's Kitchen, because that's where you feel like you're eating. read more

I wanted to give this restaurant 1 star, because of a very unethical practice they do. However, the food is good. If you pay for your food with cash, they keep the coin change to round out the bill, in their favor. Most people won't ask for their .60 cents or whatever the remainder of the dollar. I didn't ask for my change, but asked the reason they why they don't give change: they don't keep coin change in the regisitar? The waitress got very condescending, answering us very loudly,(the place is small). She said, Well people just leave it on the table, so we don't give it back to them. No, I don't care about my .50 cents. Thats' not the point. I'm a big believer in tipping well. I think NYers are the most generous tippers in the world. But this whole experience was just somehow wrong. A business shouldn't have a policy where you round off the total of the check...in their favor. It's not their money to decide to do that. I've made up my mind. I like Hummus Place on 74th better. This place has hummus, and all the options, but somehow the bill always gets to be more than Hummus Place, and the portions are smaller. I like the ambiance here, but I prefer some faster service for sure.The prices are very reasonable but the menu doesn't have a lot of variety. The mushroom hummus is good but not amazing, it tasted like any other hummus I had eaten just with mushrooms on top. The complimentary pita bread was not very good. I did enjoy the Bureka (puff pastry filled with cheese). The Tabule tasted okay and the falafel was pretty good but not outstanding, good dipping sauce though. My favorite thing was the Knaffe - which is a dessert made of fillo dough, sweet goat cheese and this sweet syrup which the waitress recommended. read more

I am new to the area and am exploring the different restaurants in the area, today I ordered lunch from the Hummus Kitchen. I ordered an Egyptian hummus and with their lunch special got it with a side of bureka for free and for my drink I ordered a pomegrante lemonade. Hummus comes with pita which was toasted and fresh tasting. I also got a baklava and it was a little too sweet for my taste. Reading the reviews about delivery I was nervous about ordering for delivery but I was happily surprised, everything was neatly packed and the girl on the phone was very helpful with my first time orderer questions. I don't really go to Hell's Kitchen, but my friend insisted we dine at this restaurant (and I'm so glad we did). Since it was a Saturday afternoon, it was really busy but the waitress did her best to accommodate us asap and even offered lemonade while we waited. They offer a pre-fix brunch with so many appetizer samplers- that were all aesthetically and deliciously pleasing. And bottomless sangria and mimosa for $7! I stopped by this location on my way to a work and it was the perfect flavorful and satisfying lunch, price is OK. The portion size is generous and I received my meal in less than 10 minutes. Definitely would return and recommend to any falafel lovers. read more

I had lunch at Hummus Place today and it was good. A good value. Good Food. Good service. I had the chicken wrap and it was a little spicy. The Hummus side was not as good as I would have liked, given that the place is a Hummus specialty restaurant. read more

Came here for brunch through a Pulsd deal- really cute place and the service was great. We got a tapas style meal and everything was incredible, especially the hummus! Looking forward to trying this place out for dinner next time! read more
