The place wasn't busy during lunch time but busy during dinner time. Amazing service and delicious food! The food was fresh and came out fast. Lunch specials are $21.95 for 2 courses while dinner specials are $36.95 for 4 courses. I had the Eggplant with Tomato Sauce and Beets as the first course and Lamb Adana Kebab as Entrée. Lamb Adana Kebab comes with salad, which I can't have since it's cold and raw, but they were able to accommodate me and replaced salad with more rice. I had Kabak Tatlısı, which has a nice sweet taste and is healthy. All were delicious, also gluten free, dairy free and soy free. Plus, the Turkish Tea as the fourth course was a great pair with my meals. Their menu offers a variety of choices, including options that are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. I was invited to a luncheon and it was a good choice! A Turkish restaurant that had a nice menu for our group. I personally had the vegetable stew in a large bowl. Before that I had a generous serving of a grilled eggplant salad as my appetizer. For desert it was complimentary that went with our Turkish tea. We were at Columbus Circle and looking for a late dinner when we came across ABA, and we are glad we did! The service was wonderful, there were a few large groups inside and lots of tables. I ordered hummus and my partner ordered the chicken adana kebab. Everything was delicious. The bread and oil with spices here is also really good. The plates and bowls here are very colorful and beautiful to look at. After dinner we had some Turkish tea, always a favorite. Fresh out of the oven cooked bread with dipping oil. $26 Lamb adana kebab came with dirty rice, two rolls of well done minced lamb, along with a salad of lettuce, lots of raw onions and red cabbage. The lamb tasted a lot like beef, as the tastes are similar for well done meat. Raw onions went well with the lamb and rice. Next time save a few bucks and get the beef or chicken adana kebab. $29 musakaa came with rice, and minced beef inside layer of melted cheese. Very tasty and one of the best musakaa I've tasted. Came back next time Sept 20, 2023. Both of us had the $21.95 luncheon special, which comes with bread, appetizer and entree with brown rice. I ate here in April with a friend. What most struck me was the size of the portions. She ordered the stuffed cabbage entree and it was such an ample portion that she took half of it home. I had my favorite Turkish appetizer, argvut cigeri (a calf's liver dish), and it was very good. The portion was so large that I really didn't need the full portion of manti that I ordered as a main dish. And somehow, we had baklava for dessert. It is not a fancy place, but the service was good, the food was tasty and filling, and the location was convenient for the concert we went to afterwards. The menu is quite broad and varied. I selected the cabbage rolls, and they were delicious with a tomato and drizzle of white sauce on top, filled with lamb. They were a bit bland and could have been spiced more, yet I enjoyed it nonetheless. One of my dining partners had the lamb chops, and they looked incredible, easily a good order. Another had the Turkish meatballs that also looked delectable. We shared a dessert, and unfortunately, I didn't catch the name, but it was like a white pudding with nuts. It also was very good. Service was top-notch and very accommodating. They are professionals who care about the food, service, and ambiance. I never had Turkish food before, this was a fantastic intro! The restaurant was very roomy. The wordy menu left us to our imagination, but luckily there were Yelp photos! The Eggplant Salad ($9.95) is a must try! It came with bread and olive oil, and combined together, a delicious delight that got me quite full on it alone! The Spinach Borek ($9.95) came recommended on Yelp, and while it tasted great, I wasn't expecting how fragile the bead was. The feta cheese being heavy also didn't help. The entrees took a bit to come, but it was well worth, especially for their Chicken Shish Kebab ($23.95). I thought the chicken breasts would be dry from the looks of it, but they must have been prepping the chicken good in there! It was so juicy! The Lamb Adana Kebab ($25.95) was also pretty good. The restaurant is extremely cozy, and they do have a spacious patio for the al fresco diners. We started off with bread and olive oil, grape leaves, and lentil balls (more like lentil patties). The beau had the Sultan's Delight (chunks of lamb or chicken in tomato sauce over eggplant puree), while I opted for the chicken shish kebab. But we didn't stop there! You can't dine at a Turkish restaurant on a chilly day without ordering a few cups of Turkish tea and Turkish coffee, along with walnut baklava, kazandibi (turkish custard). ABA is my favorite Turkish restaurant in NYC. I love that it is a block away from Columbus circle (change the name and take down the statue of that colonizer NYC) and Central Park. Every single time I visit NYC I go to ABA. My favorite two things to get is the Turkish tea and the Kofta entree. The Turkish tea makes my soul do the Harlem shake when I take a sip. The Kofta is divine! The way it is seasoned encompasses so much flavor it is unreal. The hummus is a bonus that I love. It doesn't leave a weird aftertaste, it's very clean. Yes there are dozens of Turkish restaurants in Manhattan and New York City. We have dined at a few of them namely Ali Baba, Antalia and Sofra Grill. Last October 16th we finally decided to dine at ABA in Hells Kitchen Kitchen. We often walk pass it on our way to Chenille Cleaners on West 57th Street. With ample seating both outside and inside, even before we walked in we were welcomed by a very busy server. For a Monday early evening, the outside dinning was quite full. ABA Turkish Restaurant brand is adorned on the sidewalk cafe barriers separating the seating area from pedestrians walking the sidewalk. Once inside, an engaging, smiling banter with the hostess, while being walked to our table reflects a genuine, effortless, service tone. The light brown and dark brown decor along with the facing down brightly lit wall lights provides for a soothing, relaxing vibe. Anyone who has Turkish cuisine loves the vast selections offered on the menu, yet one cannot order the whole menu can we, however delicious, however spicy. Narrowing down what we like ended up ordering our top favorites, Eggplant Salad, Spinach Borek and Chicken Adana Kebab topped off by traditional Turkish tea. And this simple selection really make sense, starting with freshly baked Turkish bread (on premises), breaking pieces and dipping it in our spicy Eggplant Salad, slow eating every bite. Next munching on the chewy Spinach Borek, sipping on the tea, even humming while eating! And we ate well and not full, wrapping it up with the spectacular flavored Kebab, Rice and Salad. The entire staff, including the manager are genuinely engaging. We shared our fantastic Istanbul airport adventure (back in April 2023) and Turkish airline experience with them and thanked them for a memorable, memorable meal. If your in upper midtown and want a delicious salmon ABA Turkish is the place! It's a very popular midtown take out spot, I think more people take out than dine in. I've been taking out from ABA since 2017. On a rainy weekend day we decided to eat for dinner. The interior is nothing fancy, and in places shows it's age but it's nice if you can grab a table at the front window and watch the passersby. Services was really quick and the food came out very quickly as well. I always start with the mucver, which is better in person because it gets a little greasy/ olive-oily in the takeout container. The salmon is phenomenal! They pair it with a salad that may just be dressed with olive oil and lemon, but when you mix a bite of salmon and salad it is heaven! My date had the donner gyro and said it was flavorful and filling. A lot of my coworkers take out that dish as well. I will keep coming back for the salmon at ABA! read more

My oh my! What an amazing experience we had here. While in New York we took a break from pizza and food carts on the corner and went with some mediterranean. Stumbled upon ABA which is super close to Central Park and IS. A. MUST. if you enjoy this cuisine and happen to be in NYC. First great indicator was the hospitality, friendliness, and compassion from the staff. Despite this being our first time here, they treated us exceptionally. No rushing, no pressure, just excellent service. We ordered the Iskender & doner kebabs, sigara borek, manti, hummus, and baklava. All were absolutely delicious! So tender, robust flavor, and prepared better than some places I've been to in the Middle East. Out of the hundreds of restaurants in NYC, we came back again the next day because of pleased we were with our experience.
