A true five-star experience. And those are rare. Humbowl is a relatively recent addition to College Avenue in Elmwood, having arrived in February 2022. They make wholesome, healthy foods that excel in flavor and deliciousness. Their "humbowls" are served with 1) choice of protein, including shrimp, chicken, sausage, legumes like lentils and garbanzo beans, and organic fried eggs; 2) brown rice and organic red quinoa; 3) a bunch of healthy veggies, including garlic mushrooms, zucchini, sautéed greens, red beets, broccoli, roasted cauliflower, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, organic tomato. I got a togarashi bowl, which consisted of white rice, garlic cremini mushrooms, sautéed greens, red sweet beets with cilantro ginger sauce. I ordered their Togarashi bowl with shrimp which consists of garlic mushrooms, sauteed greens, red beets, brown rice/quinoa blend, and cilantro ginger sauce. Every single item in that bowl tasted amazingly fresh. Ev-er-y-thang. Each of the vegetables were fragrant in their own right and the combination of flavors was absolute dynamite. It sounds so simple but the flavors are truly on point here. The shrimp were nice and plump and there was plenty of them to go around! You know how skimpy some restaurants can be when it comes to the protein (especially when seafood is involved). You don't have to worry about that with Humbowl. They provide very filling portions in their bowls, but the meal is still light. My staff knew that I was trying something different when I came back with the bowl. They asked me how it was and I just couldn't help but to gloat about how scrumptious everything tasted. Now they're planning on trying them out too. So excited to try more healthy bowls from here! The portion may appear small to some but we both got comfortably full. I had the Thai Curry Bowl with the legumes mix (black beans, garbanzo beans and French lentils).
