My husband has a gluten intolerance and we were able to request a gluten free bun and to indicate his allergy when ordering online without an issue. We loved eating at the picnic tables along the grassy area near the beach along with our puppy. It was so peaceful on a beautiful day. The only downside was a fairly long wait for our food once we ordered - which is to be expected on a beautiful Friday night. At least that's the version of the story we've always gone by. The usual menu (since I was a tiny tot) has always included: pasta with lobster, baked stuffed shrimp, bacala (salt cod) salad, another bacala dish; this one with a marinara sauce, pan-fried smelts, clams one way or another; often casino-style, calamari, and then whatever else suits us that year to total at least seven dishes. While I didn't appreciate aspects of this meal when I was a kid (read: any bacala dish), it's now probably my favorite holiday feast bar none with any and all bacala included. While I usually get my fish at Rockyneck no matter what time of year, the day or two leading up to Christmas Eve is when we've got to buckle down. The crowd is coming. Rockyneck doesn't steer us wrong. It's actually inside the Hingham Fruit Center, a store I love and which I've reviewed separately. It consists of one large seafood counter within the larger grocery store and is its own business. I'm generally impressed with the freshness, quality and taste of the seafood they carry. The look of the fish is always pristine and I never hesitate over any of their offerings. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you the very best of what you need when you need it.
