Long story short, tried to return a jacket that was damaged. I knew I was in trouble be when I walked in the store and mentioned "exchange" the sales person scurried away stating only a manager could help with an exchange. The assistant manager said "no" because the item was not damaged when it sold. Huh?! Spoke with the manager David, or tried to, who presented himself as the most smug and arrogant service person I've met in a long time. I quickly decided that David or Boss weren't worth my money or my vibe. Filed a successful claim with my back for the credit card purchase so all is good. Will never step foot in that store again. I visited the store today (09/13) with my wife. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. The staff member at the fitting rooms was unprofessional and refused to allow my wife to wait in the corridor just outside the room, insisting she stand completely outside. When we asked for the manager (Dave), he was equally rude. He claimed it was store policy but refused to show us the policy or explain it further. Instead, he walked away. After reading many low-rated reviews, I came to the store expecting a rude or uncomfortable experience. But to my surprise, my visit was great. Within minutes, Roman approached me, helped me find my way around, and clearly explained the discount system. After that, he made sure to check with me occasionally to ensure that I could find everything I wanted. Some great items had a 40% discount, while the rest had a 10% discount. I went to exchange two shirts that I purchased on 5/14/25. There was nothing wrong with the item they just didn't fit. Based on the receipt it states that I can receive a refund within 30 days back to my original form of payment. The manager on duty refused to give me my money back he insisted store credit. The service I was given from all the associates in the store was in incredibly bad customer service!!!!!!!! No one help me when i walked in for 20 minutes. The manager Ali who wouldn't give me his last name today 6/23/24 at 11:45am said he couldn't return my items because they were wrinkled and he couldn't resell them. I've had them in my trunk and left them in the bag. When I went to the rack to get the exact shirt I was trying to return that also looked wrinkled, Ali the manager, still refused. We went in to exchange two shirts that were a gift and they refused to exchange the merchandise. We were not asking for a refund. We were only asking for an exchange of sizes or store credit. The cashier called the manager over, Patrick, who was extremely rude. He didn't take the time to direct the conversation to us, as the cashier explained that we wanted to make an exchange. He repeatedly said he was not going to give us a refund when all we were asking for was an exchange. He had a really bad demeanor and attitude as he walked away from the cashier while saying "I can't, I just cannot!" I always come here never have big problems. I had my sister give me a gift with the receipt but the shirt did not fit but I had difficulty finding time to come In as I live in Long Beach. Manager I believe his name was David (Asked for his name and he said that was his name although he might be lying.) did not want to take it as he said the shirt was wrinkled and not good for sale even though they have multiple shirts on sale that are wrinkled as well. I shopped at the Boss Outlet, Commerce #9149 on 11/23/23. When I arrived home and checked my receipt, I was double charged for my jacket. I only purchased one of OUTERWEAR JACKET - Dark Green - 42R.  So, I'm expecting a credit of $175.3, (half of the receipt). I went to the store on 11/24 to get a correction and the store agreed that a mistake was made but as of 12/29, the refund still hasn't been issued to my credit card. Abhorrent customer service. Most of the items are very overpriced, but if you really look, sometimes you can find something nice for a somewhat reasonable amount. You just better hope you have zero issues with it. I was wearing a jacket I purchased there, when the zipper permanently stuck - I was unable to unzip it no matter what I did. I had to break the zipper to get the jacket off. I reported this to Hugo Boss, which told me to contact the store I purchased it from. I did this, and after nearly three weeks of back-and-forth conversation, they basically told me it's not their problem and refuse to do anything about it. Not exactly what I call standing behind your product. If you have a similar problem with an item you purchase from one of their stores, just be aware, it will become trash unless you can get it repaired yourself; these people will do nothing to help you. read more

All the staff were unhelpful and very aggressive/rude when approaching people without masks. If they're going to be enforcing the mask rule they should at least provide them to their customers. All the other stores I have been to have provided face masks. For being such an expensive store you would think they'd splurge the $0.10 on a mask for customers. I recently purchased 2 brand new Hugo Boss polo shirt's and this store location DID NOT HAVE SHOPPING BAGS to be provided with my items to take home. It is UNACCEPTABLE for a Retail Store with Expensive Luxury items to NOT PROVIDE SHOPPING BAGS with every item purchased. Summary of the review below: High end brand retail store is being managed worse than a Dollar store. Associates with a confrontational, provoking, thug-ish attitude, a phone that is never answered, a manager that refuses to talk to customers. I'm a fan of the Hugo Boss brand, and shop from their regular retail stores / Saks frequently. First time experience at Citadel Outlet. Will keep shopping at Boss, but never at this outlet location again. I've spent about $500 and purchased several items from the Boss outlet on 100 Citadel Dr in Commerce CA on 10/10/21. After coming home I've noticed that one of the shirts had a stain on it, therefore went back to the store to exchange it on 10/23/21. When I talked to a store associate and explained him the situation, he went to talk to the manager after taking his time slowly, came right back and simply said that the manager was "not going to exchange it", while offering me no reason for it. I asked to speak to the manager, associate replied immediately and said that the manager had gone to lunch and "will not talk" (manager's name is David Alvarez as I was told). I asked when he would get back, and associate said "I don't know. Maybe an hour". I then asked for the second person in charge during his absence, and he replied "Dude I already told you. Not exchanging it. It's not going to happen. Don't you understand?". The dry answers, the facial expressions and his provoking attitude instantly made me fully comprehend how people start fights with associates that I saw on Youtube videos. It truly is very easy to irritate and provoke someone if you wanted to, I realized... I told him not to talk to me in that manner, and he slapped his response right back and told me not to talk to him that way either. During our increasingly irritating, and frustrating conversation, the associate kept using very subpar tones, a combative attitude, and in the end just walked away as I kept asking to speaking to the manager. At that point I left the store with being refused to talk to the manager, being treated poorly and very frustrated. The service level provided me was by far the worst, and was actually irritating. I wished I had not gone back to the store at all, as it frustrated me for the rest of the day. Hard to understand how a high end brand would have such low class staff running their stores. I'm pretty sure that this is not the level of interaction that Boss brand is aiming for. I also believe that the firms should be aware of these unsolicited customer feedback that companies typically pay to collect, and should retrain their associates and managers on their customer service skills. A manager with basic client skills could have easily handled an easy and frequent transactions such as an exchange without letting it escalate to this extent. read more

However, considering it's still Boss, a luxury brand, I don't know if the company provides proper training to its store associates to represent the brand. I walked in the store this morning, and immediately felt that the store atmosphere and people working there don't seem to match. Consciously and/or unconsciously, I started observing interactions between the associates and customers. No greeting, calling customers "dude" or "boss", spending their time to discuss last night's NBA pre-season games and ignoring customers seeking for help (plus giving those weird look to customers who ask questions) don't make me feel like I'm in a brand store. Went to this store today and it was the worst experience ever. I bought two shirts basically $200 for the service I received. First I felt like I was being followed around as if I was going to steal something and when the girl charged me she looked like she just didn't wanna be there. I got in line and there was literally no body else and like 3 or 4 ppl behind the registers and not one said they'd ring me up. I had to walk up to one of them and that's the girl that didn't wanna be there. And on top of that they didn't even have a bag for me to put my stuff in! Poor customer service. They flat out lied to me when I asked if I could return a jacket if it doesn't fit. And guess what, NOPE. They only offered store credit. In California, I believe it is required that they post in store that they only offer store credit or no refunds in plain view at the cash register (or hanging signs inside the store). I could be wrong on that but the fact an employee said it was fine and then be told no its not is a slap in the face. I guess you can't expect much with Hugo Boss anymore. The selection can be limited at times, when I comes to casual wear. Since the revamping of the store, their suit selection has definitely up their par to the positive side.
