Hudson may be a little out of the way but they do serve some tasty southern inspired food. The minute my husband and I walked in the door our server was attentive and efficient. We received our waters right away and our food arrived not long after we ordered. My husband ordered the Shrimp and Grits and I ordered the the Pancakes with eggs and bacon. The pancakes were huge! They covered my entire plate. I couldn't even finish my breakfast. I had a bite of the Shrimp and Grits and they were delicious. I am definitely ordering that next time I visit. read more

I guess it doesn't help that I am not a huge fan of Southern Food or red meat. But when I went here for lunch recently, i really enjoyed my experience. I like there is outdoor seating and spacious windows - and keeping with the original diner counter is a nice touch as well. The dark interior isn't my favorite color scheme however. Neither here or there, I tried the turkey sandwich - which I mistook for having cranberries and cream cheese not cranberry cream cheese. I ordered the pasta salad instead of fries to have a 'healthier' option. Fries ended up coming with my sandwich, and when I pointed this out, the waitress was super apologetic and immediately changed it - and even gave some of the fries to my friend. I should have kept them, they looked great. In fact, that was my favorite thing about this place - the waitress. Or server, or service assistant - what is the PC term to call - these people of strong resilience in the food industry??? Any way, I liked things like they served limes with the Diet Coke, and offered espresso drinks and cookies - both of which I took to go and really liked the iced coffee I ordered. All in all, I enjoyed my experience, and feel I must try one of their specialties when I return to really experience The Hudson in all its glory. read more

In town last fall for a work trip and the client suggested eating a late breakfast at Hudson. I had pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns. Superb. Just came back after climbing Mt. Rainier and had fish and chips. Again, superb. I read that they have great drinks and bar service but I guess I will have to travel back to Seattle, WA to find that out for myself. It's connected to the Haunted Georgetown Morgue. That's kinda random but if you eat at Hudson you will see the huge billboard for the morgue. read more

The staff is friendly, and that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. We came in for a quick bite before heading to Seattle Cider Co, since it was just next door. We ordered sandwiches with hashbrowns on the side. Food took 40 minutes to come. 40 minutes for sandwiches. The waitress walked back and forth a dozen times while we waited but never once apologized or offered any explanation for the delay. I wish I could say the food was worth waiting for...not the case. The bacon in my BLT was stone cold, as were my hashbrowns. Maybe it was an off day for them, because I have no idea how a place like this gets 4 stars. read more

I came home from work on a Saturday and my boyfriend said. "let's go out!" I love impromptu date night! He suggested something in Georgetown, and I remembered that I've been wanting to try Hudson. The atmosphere is right up my alley -- horseshoe bar in the middle, tables around the perimeter, in an old funky warehouse-ish building with high ceilings, gorgeous multi-pane windows, and vintage b & w photos on the walls. The feel is nice but not uptight. BF ordered the brisket, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender and came with veggies and the most delicious mashed potatoes ever. I ordered a special that sounded strange but was highly recommended by the waitress. I nicknamed it "blue collar surf-and-turf" -- flatiron steak and tuna casserole. O. M. G. Soooo delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the casserole was tangy and creamy and had some sort of awesome in it that gave you a little zing in the back of your throat (BF said it was likely jalapeno in some form. I'm still just calling it awesome). Here's where we get to the three stars instead of four. The food warranted at least 4 stars. But at 7:30, they started the karaoke. Now, I love me some karaoke. I love to sing. I'm all over it. But there is a time and a place for everything, and when you're serving real food, the dinner hour is NOT the time for karaoke. Hudson, if you're listening, here's my suggestion: wait until 10:00 to start the karaoke, or lose it entirely. You've got a great thing going, but don't try to be all things to all people. There are many bars in G-town, a good number of casual dining options, and several fairly fancy restaurants. You *have* a bar, but you don't need to *be* a bar, if you know what I mean. IMHO, your perfect niche is that upper middle -- nicer than a bar, but not fancy-schmancy-blow-your-whole-paycheck. There are relatively few of those in the area, so own it and own it well. I look forward to eating here again soon, hopefully without some well-intentioned but tone-deaf woman butchering "Mockingbird" while I eat my dinner. read more

I joined some good friends for breakfast here last Saturday. It was a cool little joint and the staff were FABULOUS! Good service and witty too. Not in a snarky way either. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was good but a bit too much sage in the breading for me. Not what I expected. The home made biscuit was great and the eggs were as good as an egg is. I would go back for sure and was happy to have been introduced to the place. Maybe they read the reviews because we got swift and repeat coffee service when we were there. So maybe they have corrected that since the June post of another review. Was nice that you could have an adult experience without crying children for a change too. Not every place has to be for kids. read more

Although I work in the next block, I never visited Hudson until a couple weeks ago when our department had lunch there. We were fooled into thinking it was warm enough to eat outside, and our waitress very quickly accommodated our change of heart. Most of my co-workers, who get takeout from Hudson all the time, decided to stick with the brisket sandwich. I went with the Western Club and was not disappointed. The accompanying coleslaw was tasty and although I didn't get to try them, the fries on other people's plates looked really good. Today, on a Saturday afternoon, I had a hankering for a burger and decided to see what Yelpers had to say. Wow. The topic was almost as bad as pizza! Everyone has a different idea of what a great burger is (or what's good enough for whatever it costs). My mind was drawn back to Hudson, where I've been told "everything is good", even though they've probably only had the brisket. So, I ordered the cheeseburger with bleu cheese. The waiter didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, or what I wanted on it. My SO ordered the brisket sandwich, and I also ordered the cheesy fries for an appetizer. Our food arrived and oddly, our appetizer came last. But OMG! I don't even want to tell you what my SO said after he took the first bite of his brisket sandwich; I'm sure he'll write his own review. Although I like my burgers fully loaded - with lettuce, tomato, cheese, secret sauce, etc. - I tried the meat separately and it was delicious. Nicely seasoned, with that great flame-broiled char. It was cooked medium-medium well, which is perfect for me. This was easily one of the best burgers I've had in Seattle. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I liked the Counter in Ballard, was a fan of In 'N Out in college, and am not a fan of Dick's, Burgermaster, White Castle or any of the fast food joints (but will make an exception for Carl Jr.'s if desperate). Their fries are also easily some of the best I've ever had. Hand cut, taste good hot or even cooled off. The cheese sauce on the fries, along with the green onion garnish, was perfection. Cheesy fries could be a meal by itself, especially if you choose to go with the optional bacon. My better half will complain at the drop of a hat if he feels the food isn't good or even if it isn't worth whatever's being charged for it. He said with a totally serious face, "This sandwich is worth $12." If you knew this guy you'd know what a HUGE, rare compliment that is. I don't know what their brunches are like but today, on a quiet Saturday afternoon, we're happily consciously numb and in a food coma from Hudson. We'll go back, no question about it, for many more comas in the future. read more

SO. MANY. FLIES!! Despite me loving this place for years (awesome homemade biscuits and great food) the sheer amount of fruit flies (tiny gnats) buzzing around you and your food and table CONSTANTLY is very very off-putting and bespeaks garbage/sanitation/cleanliness issues. Normal restaurants don't have this. Ever left bananas or under-sink garbage I your kitchen too long? Yeah, THAT. Except this is a restaurant. So....Yuk. If they'd fix this, they'd be 4.5 stars no problem. read more

I went to Hudson on Saturday morning just before noon. All of the tables were full, and my friend and I decided to wait for a table. No one approached us to let us know how long the wait would be, or to let us know if there was a waitlist, or to let us know if we could sit at the bar until our table was ready. After fifteen minutes of standing at the door with six other people we decided to just sit at the bar and hope to be served. Once we sat down, the barmaid said, "So? You finally gave in, eh?" like we were supposed to know the protocol. It should be noted that the barmaid was super nice, and did a good job, but it would have been nice to understand how the joint operates. The initial draw to Hudson was that - according to their web site - they served "break-feasts". I'm a big fan of big breakfasts, so I expected a serving as big as my head. I ordered the something "coop" that was roasted chicken tossed with three scrambled eggs, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and goat cheese, and it came with hash browns and an English muffin which I opted for. My friend ordered a different scramble with mushrooms and other veggies. After fifteen minutes we experienced that joyous feeling when others who ordered after you are served before you. Three other customers who ordered after we did were served before us. Finally our food came, and it was luke-warm and dainty. "Break-feast" my ass! I highly doubt that there were three eggs in my dish unless they were using pigeon eggs. Additionally, they mixed up our toast orders and gave my friend the English muffin, and since she ordered a scramble too we weren't sure which one was which. The flavor was fine, though mine was quite skimpy on the goat cheese, let alone all of the other ingredients. The other gnarly thing about Hudson's is that there were a smattering of customers who seemed to think it was still Friday night, and who were getting genuinely drunk. Slamming down their glasses, making rude comments to the barmaid, and just being surly in general, and that isn't the kind of atmosphere I enjoy while eating a meal. I'll also add that the interior of the restaurant was dark, gloomy, cold, and unwelcoming, and that I never had the feeling that I was a valued customer. I don't really know what to say about Hudson, but it won't be the cool place that I take friends visiting Seattle for the first time. read more

I love the atmosphere and menu here, but I'm done with the hit and miss service. They don't post a "seat yourself" or " please wait to be seated" sign, and frequently when you arrive, the staff completely ignores you. For a long time. This last time we had been waiting for 20 minutes for two seats to open up, with zero acknowledgement of any kind from any of the staff (they all saw us); and a couple blows in and swoops in on two recently vacated seats. Unacceptable. Establish a service protocol or continue to lose customers. read more

We needed a breakfast/lunch spot near Beacon Hill and my Georgetown favorite was not open yet, Came into the Hudson and was a little surprised by the inside of the joint. For some reason it looks alot larger as you're whizzing by on East Marginal. It's a U-shaped bar, ringed by several 4-top booths and tables. There were 5 of us and the waitress said we'd have to either squeeze into the booth by the door, or wait for a corner booth to add a chair. OK, well welcome to you too. Lunch menu isn't offered until 11:00 so my always-hungry cousin asked for a single pancake to graze on while we waited to order the rest of our food. He had to ask for it a second time as the waitress rushed past and she said "oh, you want that now?" She brings out two pancakes, which looked wholesome and fluffy, then follows with the rest of our food. Two french dips, a patty melt, a Philly Cheesesteak, and then chicken fried steak and eggs. The meat in the french dips looked the same as what was on my cheesesteak, which was served on a nicely toasted roll, topped with a cheesy sauce, and accompanied by fresh-cut fries. Had to ask a second time for the ranch but I'm glad I waited for it - tasted homemade, thicker than a normal dressing and had a fresh, herby taste. Server forgot to bring the chicken fried steak, but instead brought eggs, toast and hashbrowns. When asked about the CFS, she seemed surprised that it wasn't on the plate she brought. Came for brunch with my mother. Was a little worried when we first arrived. Super busy and loud, but only took about 10 mins to get a table. At the suggestion of the dreamy waiter, I had shrimp & grits. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to my southern food, so I was apprehensive. He promised I would not be disappointed. Again, he was dreamy so I took his word for it. Definitely glad I went with it. Best I've had in this side of the country. Definitely plan on heading back to try some other options. I really like Hudson. I love the southern influence on the food. I had the shrimp and grits for breakfast and they were delicious! I would like to go here again for breakfast. As for dinner, I've had the shrimp po boy and the catfish po boy. Both were delicious, although I liked the shrimp better because of the yummy sauce on the sandwich. I tried my boyfriend's Reuben sandwich on the last visit and it was amazing. I've also tried his steak dinner and the meat was good. The real standout to me, though, were the mashed potatoes that came with the steak. This is a good place to get a nice meat and potatoes dinner in a casual atmosphere for a decent price. read more

I came here for breakfast with a group of coworkers, it's a small restaurant so luckily we were able to get a couple tables together. I had the breakfast tacos and they were delciious and filling! While I only had coffee they looked to have a great local beer options as well as wine! I'll have to come back and check out those options next time I'm around! read more

I had the beer battered fish an chips first if all I've had food here before which was pretty good but this particular meal was very greasy and the fish batter could have been better the fries were cooked in old grease and a lot of them were burnt. read more

Went here this past Friday with the boy. I've been very eager to try this place out. Here's what I think so far: 1) the bartender was very friendly, actually went out of his way to get my attention to take my drink order while I was busy running at the mouth. I had beer so I can't speak to whether or not the drinks had enough alcohol. 2) Spicy shrimp appetizer was amazing. Too spicy? Absolutely not. It rocked. Note: I typically do NOT eat shrimp so for me to say it rocked is a really big deal. 3) It was busy but the waitresses were all over it. I can't wait to eat a full meal and/or brunch here! read more

Ok beer selection, generally surly service, and I've never been anywhere that rewards loyal customers less than Hudson. They also seem to open and close on their own random schedule. I would have given one star, but I really enjoy their Greek salad and their french fries, so that bumped it up. read more

I had the breakfast tacos and I could not stop eating! My friend had the brisket omelet. Both of us enjoyed our food. Hudson's is a great deal for a great price. My tacos had just enough cheese and the right balance of ingredients. I'm not usually a fan of sour cream, but I will have them in these tacos again! The only disappointment was the Bloody Mary. I like mine just a bit more savory. Our server was great and the food came out fast. I left stuffed and wanting more. I will be back! read more

No real deck. Was warm inside although it was a 80+ degree day in Seattle. Prompt service by the bartender for both drinks and food. Had pan seared chicken with grilled vegetables and mashed taters. Excellent! Sort of different - simple decor that hearkens back to the Boeing factory feel of the neighborhood. Not fine dining, but definitely a unique and local feel. Had a BLT with avocado for lunch. I love mayo, but there was a bit much even for my tastes, so instead of a light lunch I was pretty stuffed. That said, it tasted great. The fries were excellent. Service was good. The space itself is nice and open, and it looks like they're working on a patio for outdoor seating. read more

This place is phenomenal. I always get the breakfast tacos which are my favorite breakfast I've tried in Seattle. The service is fast, competent and friendly. I got a bloody mary once and I probably won't be doing that again. While that wasn't necessarily in my top five by any means, I understand that every menu item at every restaurant can't suit my tastes precisely... and other people seem to love them so I might just be wrong ;) This is definitely a five star establishment in my book. read more

decent breakfast in georgetown with a very georgetown vibe. i had the lincoln ave. potatoes sans cheese with 2 over medium eggs. the eggs were cooked perfectly, but most of the onions in the potatoes were too raw for my liking and overall it needed some seasoning (thankfully there's a big bottle of hot sauce on every table!). there are a few other gluten-free options but not many. hubby had the deep friend french toast and liked it a lot, but his side of veggie sausage was overcooked, dried out and crumbly. the hash browns are good but a very small portion. the coffee is excellent and the server we had was very friendly, though one of the others seemed like she would rather be somewhere else. read more

We went to the Gergetown Carnival yesterday to check out the music and drink our favorite beers from Georgetown Brewery. We didn't eat at the carnival but instead decided to stop at the Hudson for a bite. Hands down, they have the best beef brisket sandwich I've ever had. We also ordered the blackened Salmon sandwich and jalapeño avocado dip which were also very good. We're going to need to go back again very soon, I can't stop thinking about that beef brisket sandwich. read more
