Hudson & Packard - Pizza Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

Hudson & Packard is awesome!! We've been wanting to check this place out for a long time and made a point to check it out while we were in Poughkeepsie. It most definitely did not disappoint!! The atmosphere is great, a compact space with cool décor and a lot of energy. This place has a buzz about it. We sat at the counter and got to watch the team making all of the food. It was extremely impressive to see the frequency they are able to churn out food while still providing a great amount of skill & care to each order. Despite being very busy, the owner Charlie stopped to chat with us a few times as did other members of the staff. They are such a friendly group and they really put the whole experience over the top for us. The food was everything we had hoped it would be and more. This is not your average pizza place. Hudson & Packard is exactly what you'd expect as the result of a Culinary Institute graduate opening a pizza shop. Elevated food that offers everything you love about pizza with the skill, craft & creativity of a trained chef. The crust is very light and flavorful with any number of delicious toppings to choose from. Everything we had was phenomenal, including the pistachio cake for dessert. In a region that offers a ton of great spots to eat, Hudson & Packard is definitely one of the must-sees. We will be heading back to the Hudson Valley soon to eat here!! read more

This place was recommended to me and I truly did love their food. We manage to get a table with very little time. Their Caesar salad is so delicious, their BBQ wings were fried to perfection and the sauce is addictive. The pizza is so good and being from NYC that's says a lot. Is a tiny place but the staff was super friendly and their drink selection was excellent. I will be back soon, I do recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

The pizza here is very good, but it's a treat to have sparingly. It's quite expensive for the amount of food you get. read more

Are you going to believe me when I say that the best pizza in the Hudson Valley is the Detroit-style pie of Hudson & Packard? You better! Look, I was expecting it to be good... I wasn't expecting it to be *this* good. I will first speak the virtues of the vegan pie because that is the one that I ate. You pick four toppings and it's a little extra for Violife cheese, which I recommend that you do, too, in order to get the full, decadent experience. I also had mushrooms, olive tapenade, spinach and artichokes. The crust is thick, yes, but not thick like Chicago-style as this is more like an airy focaccia and not doughy at all. The sauce is fucking incredible. Perfection: tangy, salty and nice and thick. The amount of toppings and cheese are not too little nor too much but just right. My god, it was so good that I forced myself to stop at 3/4 of the pie and take the rest home. It was just as good two nights later. My husband had one of the meaty pies (the Cutlass Supreme) and he, too, deemed it above and beyond any pizza we've had in this area. He said he'd be willing to drive the 20 minutes to and from Poughkeepsie to get our weekly fix (and he hates driving). Yes, there is a bit of a wait, but chill out and you will be rewarded with the best pizza in the Hudson Valley, OK? We dined in and watched both the kitchen staff and FOH staff work their butts off! I may be a convert to Detroit-style pizza, WTH? read more

This place serves some amazing pizza. We had the ambassador pizza. The pizza is a little on the small side but great for 2 people. The crust, sauce ,cheese and pepperoni was a home run! When ever I come back to Poughkeepsie I will be visiting Hudson & Packard. read more

Coming from NJ I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to pizza. Ever since moving to the area everyone's been chewing my ear off about H&P. Being able to say that I have tried close to every pie on the menu, I'm a believer for the hype. Obviously this is not the traditional round thin crust you get elsewhere, this Detroit style has incredible structure and crust. Everyone there takes the food seriously and it's worth a drive to try. Keep up to date with the Instagram as some nights they sell out! read more

Been wanting to stop in since this Detroit style pizza place opened. Finally made it on a Saturday nite in February and it was still hoping (had to wait 15 min for a spot at the bar 'cause didn't realize they take reservations). Got a great view of their pizza making operation from sitting at the "bar" area. Quite and operation -- The pizza was great -- airy and chewy. Each pie is only 4 slices but it's so thick and full of ingredients that I could only finish 2 slices. Will definitely be back (and will call ahead for a reservation) read more

This would've been a five star experience except for the long wait! We arrived at 5:30. Only one other table with 2 people was occupied. A waitress came over right away, brought water and gave us the QR code for the menu. She came back to take the order. I ordered The Who's Got the Beet Salad. It was huge definitely big enough to share with my hubby. The salad had fresh mixed greens, slices of beet, goat cheese and walnuts. It all paired well and was delicious! I had the Zombie cider. It had hints of honey and cherry. Sooo good! Then we waited and waited for the pizza. It took about 20 min from the time we were done the salad. The waitress did come over. She finally went and took a pizza from takeout and was reprimanded by the boss/pizza maker. The take out was booming. A customer eating in the dining room shouldn't have to wait that long for pizza The pizza is Detroit style- thick and cheesy with sauce on top. The sauce was a very good with a little tang to it. The crust had just the right amount of greasiness to make it delicious! Thanks to our waitress for making sure we got our pizza! read more

You really can't go wrong with food at Hudson and Packard. I would encourage you to try the special pizzas that they offer. They change frequently and are always delicious. The last one I tried was lamb and I was extremely surprised at how delicious I found it. The salads and the wings are also very good. Just know that everything takes time, it is cooked to order, and it is worth the wait. This is not really a restaurant where you can add on a couple of extras and expect them to come out quickly. The food is delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I've eaten here several times, and don't get me wrong the food is really good. But like like most restaurants, as it gets older, it doesn't get better. Got an 8x10 pizza for lunch actually, we got 2. They measured 8x6. The slices used to be big like a slice of Sicilian. These were so small, and NOT WORTH the 23 dollars for 4 slices. Per pie. I was so disappointed I went to email them, but an email only took so many characters. So I thought I'd call, and give them my opinion being a 4 time returning customer. I was very embarrassed because I raved to my coworkers about it, and how one slice is all you need. So I called. The owner didn't seem to care. HE ARGUED WITH ME . Like I said, the food is good, but I won't be going back there WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE PORTION NOW. read more

The best Detroit style pizza in the Hudson valley! I love the ford fungi, pepperoni and classic cheese. They regularly have specials which are always so good! We've also tried their wings and salads which were good too. Highly recommend! Order early because they will sell out often. Their website is easy to use and you can pre order too read more

Detroit Pizza WOW! I never thought deep dish pizza could be this good. Best pizza in Poughkeepsie by far.

Food was great and server was very friendly. Loved the bar next door as well!! Fun staff and creative drink choices.

If you're not careful you may miss this hole in the wall. Forget your regular meat lover's pizza, this pizza changes the GAME You'll have to taste this for yourself. They definitely bring some Detroit to upstate New York. I ordered the fire bird *chef's kiss*. This is my second time here and I'll keep on coming back. The crunch alone and the combination of flavors is addicting. Don't say I didn't warn you! read more

Amazing Pizza! Excellent new spot in Poughkeepsie, NY. We tried four of the eight pies on the menu and loved all of them. (Thunderbird, PYT, Ford Funghi & S-Class) Quick service and friendly staff. Safe COVID protocols. Make sure you get the Green Pistachio Cake for dessert. read more

Hudson & Packard - Top: (PYT, S-Class) Bottom: (Thunderbird, Ford Funghi) - Pizza Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

This was my first introduction to Detroit Style Pizza without ever being in Detroit and I was impressed. The crust is always cooked to a crispy perfection and the flavors are always spot on. Order early because they do sell out, especially because they're the only spot in Poughkeepsie that does this type of pizza. Their regular menu items like Thunderbird and Ford Funghi are my go-to unless I'm feeling a custom. If their El Camino was regularly on the menu that would also be in my rotation. Unless it's a busy hour, the service is really quick and everyone at the restaurant is very friendly. I only wish Detroit pizzas were bigger (they're a 10x10" I think) because this is a single serve meal for me and the price does will add up if you're looking to try and order for 2-4+ people. Pro tip: ask for some Mike's hot honey to dip or drizzle. It's a little extra, but once you've tried it, you can't go back. read more

Bottom line up front: Eat here, it's a welcome escape from the boring chain pizzas that are all the same. If you're a fan of flavor, and pizza you won't be disappointed. Fantastic pizza! It's Detroit Style, square for those of you out of the loop. Each pizza is unique and packed with flavor. As you'd expect from the minds of a Culinary Institute of America and certified "Authentic Detroit Style Pizza Maker". Not what you'll find at any of the commercial pizza franchises, these pies are gourmet. Made with the freshest ingredients in combinations I wouldn't have thought of on my own. Tried all four of the available pizzas on my inaugural visit and I hope to make it back during their limited run. Hudson Hornet: packed with flavor, just the right blend of sweet and spicy with the hot honey. You'll definitely feel the heat, but this pie was fantastic. Chevy Corveggie: solid veggie pizza, great blend of flavors. All the joy of pizza, but the guilt is mitigated by the obvious freshness of the ingredients. Ford Fungi: Second favorite of the bunch, the blend of cheeses is a culinary delight. If you like goat cheese, and mushrooms you can't go wrong here. El CAMINO: If putting pineapple on pizza is wrong, I never want to be right. The bbq sauce and pineapple combination is always fantastic, even more so here. read more

A gem of a hole in the wall. Best beet salad I've ever had. Never had Detroit style pizza before but we really liked it. Service was very attentive and friendly. The pizza takes a little while to cook so don't expect NY pizzeria quickness. We went before a concert at The Chance and would definitely go again. read more

YUM. the space is very small but well decorated. The pizza is crispy and delicious. Order the Hudson Hornet if you like spice. They serve beer. The sign on the door for the hours doesn't match the Yelp info - not sure if we came in too close to closing at 6:45 p on a Thursday. Note that they do not have high chairs. Great place for carry out if dine in isnt your preference. As for Detroit style pizza - I would describe it as more of a crispy Sicilian than a deep dish. read more

Hudson & Packard - Vernor's Ginger Ale - Pizza Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

Hudson & Packard (HP) offers traditional Detroit style pizza. Although I'm a huge fan of NY style and wood fired pizzas, HP has broadened my perspective and I can honestly say that I'm a huge fan of Detroit style now. With their permanent store recently opened, Hudson & Packard is near the Poughkeepsie Bridge and has a large public parking lot across the street for easy downtown parking. You can't miss HP with their new, blue neon sign and inviting store front. I tried a four piece pie back in September - grabbing a pepperoni style with Mike's Hot Honey dipping sauce. This was probably one of the best pizzas I've had. On our most recent order, we again tried the Thunderbird and the Ambassador varieties. Both were great, but I highly recommend the Ambassador - double pepperoni with fresh red sauce. I ordered a Mike's Hot Honey but chose not to use it because the Ambassador was too good on its own. I will definitely order this again in the future. Pros: -Amazing ingredients and phenomenal pizza. -Fills you up -unique style to offset the dozens and dozens of other NY style pizza shops -Great social media updates -Can we talk about the cool sign again? Things to know: -Pies are four slices (looks like 10" x 10"). If you're ordering for a group, then you may want to budget one pie for two people. -Pies are $17 and up. For me, it's worth every penny, but know that if you're ordering a few pies, your bill can add up quickly. Trust me, I can eat four regular NY style slices in a sitting but I'm full after two slices of HP's. -Closed Tues and Weds I'm so happy Hudson and Packard are in the area and hope to become a regular in the coming months. *Don't forget to add a Mike's Hot Honey to all your orders. read more

This was our first visit to dine in atHudson & Packard, as we've ordered take out in the past. This little shop has a great vibe, small but decorated well! We ordered a Caesar salad to share, then shared an Ambassador pizza (YUM!!!!). The one pizza was plenty for two of us, and we were able to save a bit of room for Grandma Carol's green cake. The cake was phenomenal, and the fact that it was served on one of Grandma's plates was the perfect attention to detail! We'll happily be back to try more of your delicious offerings. read more

The pizza was quite good here and the ambiance was pleasant. The music selection was also cool. Parking is free on the street, if you are lucky, or across the street in the municipal lot for $1.50 per hour. The only downside was the very, very long wait for the pizza to come out of the oven, which was odd since there were very few others in the restaurant. It might be best to order ahead. read more

H&P was one of the best pizzas I've had so far in poughkeepsie and the surrounding area. I got the PYT which was absolutely amazing. The flavor combination worked really well and the crust was cooked perfectly. One of the best spots in Poughkeepsie. As a lover of NY thin crust a Detroit style pizza did not appeal the first time I went here. However I was quickly won over however as the pizza is great. The chicken wings are amazing as well. If there is one downside it's that seating is very limited so you may want to make a reservation just in case. Very nice gem to find. read more

Detroit Style Deep Dish Pizza located in the Heart of Poughkeepsie. Hudson & Packard won an award for having the second best pizza in the WORLD! Now I'm not knocking it and not having been to Chicago or Detroit, I don't have anything to compare it too but the deep dish pizza was pretty good! I am a meat on Pizza lover! So, I had the cutlass supreme. It wasn't bad, but I needed it to be MEATIER! Now, these are deep dish pizza's made with the sauce on top so it is hard to find the flavors, I am going to go back and try the Ambassador, and the Hudson Hornet and the big cheese pizza! I took my pizza home but I want to have a dine in experience there. The location is pretty small inside so it does get crowded fast so I am going to find the perfect time to go. Hopefully they will put the award winning pizza on the menu, and maybe they can join the pizza fest when it comes to town! read more

The Ford fungi pizza is my favorite. Wing are always a 10/10 here. The beet salad was devoured in less than five minutes! Clean greens and delicious dressing. Their ranch is my favorite! The S class was delicious and tasty. Service should be slightly more attentive, overall good. I love the ambience of the restaurant. The open sesame pizza was underwhelming. With being $21 and the amount of cool ingredients on the pizza, it was bland. The chicken/toppings needed to be seasoned. Needed salt. Other than that, everything else was delicious. read more
