My partner has lived in Walla Walla for several years and she said this place used to be not very good, but we tried it out tonight after learning about the new management, and she said the difference is incredible. I could not recommend this place more: it was clean and covid-proof, much more so than other restaurants I'd been to during the pandemic. Tables were sticky. Overall restaurant was unkempt and dirty. Restrooms were gross. The Sunday choices for the food bar was sad. Sliced hotdogs, and poorly sliced chicken,pork and beef . All of which were almost completely empty. The only sea food choices were low quality fake crab .and semi decent calamari rings. The server didn't bring or offer any untesils. We had to go ask for them and for to go containers. The only good this was the cooks they were nice and seemed to know what they were doing. But overall this is a restaurant that was once flourishing but has definitely gone down hill. My group had never been there before I was excited to show them how cool it was . Was at the grocery store, picked up my travel sundry items and started thinking about my need for food. I saw the blinking open sign and took that as a special invitation just for me. A grabbed a bowl, not realizing the different sizes. I got the large. I thought I did a nice job filling it, stuff was falling out,but they kept telling me to add more. I've been here several times, and I always leave feeling satisfied with what I've eaten. I guess that makes sense since I picked the food that goes into the bowl, which is generally the medium size. For those who don't know, the size of bowl is how the cost is determined. You can, however, heap a lot of noodles on top, as the veggies will cook down. Beware though that if the food doesn't fit into the same sized bowl, they will put it into a bigger one and charge you for that size. The wait staff will bring you rice if you want it. If you made your food super spicy, get the rice! The two chefs who cook the food get a lot of exercise walking around the grill (or whatever the thing is called). The meal does come with dessert. I ate here yesterday and noticed a lack of detail in cleaning the establishment; The tables sticky and filthy. Against my better judgement we ate there anyways. I have now visited the restroom 5 times today, the day after eating there. My gf is trailing my total, but has visited multiple times as well. I would say they must be good based on the reviews and seeing the good selection of veggies, but when i was eating the soggy noodles, I was not happy. The cook poured broth/liquid while cooking and it was probably too much. Also be aware that there are sizes for the bowl. Hua's continues to serve a great meal for a great price. As with all restaurants of this ilk, you get to choose your ingredients and your sauces, then you hand your bowl to the cook who cooks it right in front of you. You can choose mild, medium or spicy. The vegetables and protein choices have remained about the same for the past ten years, as have the owners. There are a few desserts to choose from and white rice is available if you want it. You can also get a beer to help wash down your food if you chose the fire-eating repast. Beware spicy can be really really HOT (if you want it to be). This is a great little place. It's kind of like a buffet. You grab a bowl, and put noodles, vegetables, meats, and sauce in it. Then you give it to the cooks and they grill it while you watch. They also give you a side of rice. It's very tasty and filling. You can order a soft drink and there's some desserts available from a table. read more

I'm giving this place an average review because it was good but not great. I like that my food wasn't oily, but I've been to several different Mongolian grills that weren't oily and tasted better. So I'm from Seattle and have access to lots of really good places. It's nothing out of this world, but it's also one of my favorite places. Nothing is fancy about this place. The decor, service, and food are good. I've eaten here countless times and haven't ever been disappointed. The best part about this place is that you can make it however you want. For how much food you can get I think the prices are fair. One of the better Mongolian Restaurants in the Northwest! Lots of choices on the food and the grilling is done traditionally, without the use of oil. Reasonable prices. The atmosphere is ok. Service could at times use improvement. Overall though it deserves 4 stars. With improvement in service and atmosphere it would get 5. I have been to a dozen different Mongolian restaurants in Washington and Oregon and this one rates at the top. I will never eat at this place again the food was terrible you can no longer make your own bowl. I told the server what I wanted and size f bowl when I got home none of what I had ask for were in the box the sauces I wanted nope not only that I as for a med bowl which I was charged for but the amount that was in the box was smaller than a child's size. The food tasted so bad that I only took about 3 bites and gave the rest to the dog even he wouldn't eat so it went in the garbage. It's sad because this was my favorite places to eat but never again. They could close and it wouldn't bother me at al. If you want a crappy tasting meal then come here but if u want a good tasty meal run as fast as you can away from this place. Hoa's is an interesting place to me. I can't say I don't like the food, because I do enjoy pretty much every bowl I've consumed there; but, I think they may have MSG in their food, or sauces? Because every time after I enjoy my delicious meal the after-effects are...well, you know...MSG-like. AND I haven't noticed a "No MSG" sign up anywhere there, either. So, that's kind of a major ding against this place, at least for myself (It's either that or the cabbage). The "ambience" seems like they're trying to make changes as they make a profit, and for that I respect them. It's a bit like a Hole-the-wall kind of place, but sometimes, you just want to go out to eat without dressing up. The price is average, and I wouldn't recommend trying to cut-corners by splitting a bowl, because they charge you for splitting, so it is useless to bother trying. I have, and learned my lesson, lol! They DO offer dessert and white rice with their bowls, which is a welcome addition to the meal (although I always stuff myself so full with the actual bowl there's hardly room for much else!). Honestly, I would leave more stars and would recommend this restaurant more highly if only I could have the reassurance that I am not eating MSG when I eat there! That's my biggest hang up. So, that said, if MSG doesn't bother you, and you need a quick, no frills place to eat at, I'd say go for it! read more

This used to be a pretty good Mongolian BBQ place, but now in addition to your seasoning the ingredients, they splash in this rich new house sauce which completely overpowers everything in the dish. Also, it turns out I can't have some of the ingredients in that sauce. It's kind of greasy, has sugar and is just pretty unpleasant...especially since I thought I added a good amount of the seasoning I wanted in the first place. Also, as he waited for the other cook to finish, my cook was using his wood spatula as something to lean on...the tip on the floor. Ugh. Hua's has definitely seen better days. read more

I don't even want to give this place 1 star. Talk about nasty! And expensive for what you get! Basically you are stuck getting a large bowl even if you have a tiny appetite which is almost $11 and the sauces are super strange. They don't even have soy sauce to add to your mix and then they have all these other wierd sauces that you have no clue what they are or what is in them so if you have a food allergy forget it! I'm a bit sad. Hua's used to be great. Now not so much. The owners have moved on. The food is still cooked on that super hot grill, but the quality of food has gone downhill a bit. There is a tip jar for the cooks. We tip our waitress, then found she had to share tips with the cooks. Huh? So the cooks get tips, then take from the waitress? Do Not put money in the tip jar. Bluntly: waitress greeted us upon entering, seated us, and let us to eat. She didn't mention pricing or anything other than 'would you like something to drink other than water? would you like rice?' Every single mongolian grill I've visited in the U.S. operates on a flat fee for buffet. The friend with me, who'd never been to a mongolian grill, only knew that I had told him the same before hand. Given we were not informed otherwise upon entering, this is with what I operated. Upon going to pay, I get charged for double. Apparently there are prices on a board, at the rear of the restaurant, and that this is not a restaurant where it's a flat fee for buffet. I told this to the waitress, and she did not take responsibility for not informing us, and insisted on charging me for both. Sadly, the sign itself (seen well after the fact) does not indicate 'per bowl', only the bowl size and the price. This can all too easily be interpreted as 'choose your bowl size, and this is what you'll pay for using that size bowl'. Similar to what others wrote in their reviews, the grill minders will pour unwanted sauce on your dish and place your final food into a bowl size that does not match the one you provided them. I do not recommend anyone eat here because there are some shady pricing practice in practice. read more

This place definately rocks. You can get the large bowl for 9-10 dollars depending what time of day you go. Also you can stuff the bowls with a large amount of food that can last from 1-3 meals depending on how vigorous an eater you are.
