Oh my gosh, first of all the places spectacular and it's beauty and cleanliness. Everyone is so attentive. We were with the 2 1/2 year-old and they made sure we had our food immediately as well as gave him a cup of the lid without asking the food was amazing. Icouldn't get enough. The flavors were incredible on the meat as well as a freshness of the guacamole which I'm really picky about definitely cannot wait to go back if they were so attentive to everything and so kind the food was spectacular. I go in there quite frequently and always enjoy the food and the service. I went Thursday August 12 for lunch with friends. The food was just barely warm, and the plates were barely warm also. I don't know what happened because we always have hot plates to keep our food warm and the food is always hot. None of us wanted to complain, which maybe we should have. Time for an update! I guess I keep coming back because it's convenient (on the way out of town) and they have a patio (to escape Covid even for us vaxed people who really don't want a Delta breakthrough). So, the last two times here, I have really enjoyed my food! Today I ate the burrito express from the lunch menu. It had guacamole, so I was happy. Of course, their cabbage salsa is yummy with a nice spicy little kick. Today we needed lunch and wanted an outdoor patio. Fortunately, we drove by, noticed that the patio was almost empty, and decided that we should eat here. Service was fast and water and chips and dip were provided quickly. We were allowed a few minutes to decide what we wanted and the waitress was back to take our order. I decided to have the chicken burrito with rice and beans. An excellent choice as the chicken tasted like it had just been barbecued. The amount of chicken in my burrito was very generous. Overall a great lunch spot. If you are in a hurry you will be able to eat here in well under an hour at lunchtime. Parking is plentiful in the private parking lot. read more

Good Americanized Mexican food in a beautifully decorated space with unfortunately bright lighting that makes it seem like a Home Depot's lighting department! Half the customers were wearing baseball caps, and I wishe dI had one, too! For starters, the bartender here needs to go back to ding-dong school. Absolutely the worst, sour, flavorless piña colada I have ever tasted. At least the beer was cold. My food was an awful soupy mess, and in my opinion, significantly over-priced. They obviously throw the plates into the oven after all the food has been served. After a long day of wine tasting and getting back into town late from the vineyards, we needed dinner. We visited El Sombrero as a last resort, since it's one of the only restaurants open later than 9pm. Oh, small towns...gotta love 'em. El Sombrero has a really nice space. It's a very large restaurant with plenty of seating, tall ceilings and colorful decor. We were one of the only two parties here, and the other was dining at the bar. Meanwhile, we were getting takeout, so sat in a booth as we waited for our food. It was nice of them to bring us chips and salsas while we waited. I ordered the Chicken Tacos combo plate for takeout, and it was A-OK. The entree was neatly packed up, and they even gave me a bag of chips, which was really nice of them. I just thought the shredded chicken tasted bland, so it really needed some salsa or somethin'. The tortillas were flour, so were soft, but was hard to pick up and eat since it was so flimsy. I ended up eating my entree with a fork and knife. The entire meal tasted like average Mexican-American food. I was just glad that I didn't go to bed hungry. read more

The salsa is a watery, bland mix of chopped tomatoes, onions and some cilantro. And to top it off, served in a small--I mean small, that you cannot dip you chips into without braking it in half. (If you are allergic to onions, there are no alternatives for salsa). The salsa will definitely not stay on your chip, so no, the introduction to El Sombrero is not good. If you ask for a larger vessel for your salsa, you will not get a "I'll be happy to get one for you." Service is a five out of ten and the food, at best a 4 out of ten. It is just a less than acceptable. Taco Bell has better tasting food! Would never go there again. Perhaps try another of the many Mexican eateries in town. read more
