This place was recommended to me a lot. The server was friendly but we did not see him much during our visit. They recommended the pancho villa, a little bit of everything. It was clean and we got seated right when we walked in. The chicken and carne asada was great. The chicken taquito good. The enchilada was meh. The jalapeño poppers... what? No thanks. I tried one and it was not hot and not my idea of a good time. For 2 meals and 2 beers, it was about $100. It was just an okay experience for me and I personally wouldn't need a repeat and would look at other options when in the area next. read more

El Sombrero - 100. Pancho Villa - Mexican Near Me - Walla Walla, Washington

Margarita was weak and small. The chips and salsa were a little weird. One seemed to have cabbage in it and not much flavor or spice. It was clean and the restroom was very clean. I got the Verda burrito and it was bland. The meat was some of the tenderous li have had but it lacked flavor. The beans had no floor and were soupy. read more

My husband and I decided to dine at El Sombrero several months ago. The ambiance is nice when good service. We are both vegetarian and dairy-free. My husband ordered his usual "Vegetarian Burrito" with no cheese or sour cream. As I was ordering and mentioned the word "vegan diet" asking for extra Spanish rice instead of beans. The waiter then told me that the rice was made with chicken broth. First time i ever heard this! I brought up the fact that they advertise on their menu a vegetarian burrito, but this can't be vegetarian if it's made with chicken broth. I told him I knew many vegetarian friends who choose this burrito because it's vegetarian and I asked them to please either not use chicken broth or remove the word vegetarian from the menu. He said I should talk to the manager who wasn't there. We ended up leaving and haven't been back. I called the manager a few days later and explained how it is not ok to call something vegetarian when it's not. He acknowledged my concern. I called today several months later to inquire about the rice and they have not changed anything. They still use chicken broth and they still serve it in the vegetarian burrito. Not cool! My friends and I have eaten here for years and have been choosing this menu item, unbeknownst to us we've been eating chicken! read more

Great food. Pretty good prices. Not super traditional Mexican, more like American-Mexican food but very good. I had the deluxe quesadilla with chicken and couldn't finish it. My wife had a shrimp quesadilla that was loaded with shrimp. Good place for a solid dinner. read more

Super friendly service, great food. I've been going since I was like 5 honestly, one of the best places to go hangout with your family and eat good food. I recommend it to everyone. I would go every day if I could. read more

Food was super tasty and service was great and speedy! The restaurant is well maintained and we overall enjoyed our experience.

Well I am finally back in Walla Walla and of course I went for takeout. My favorite is Arroz con Pollo. They still make it the way I like it. Lots of sauce and great flavor. It's too much food but darn if I didn't eat it all. read more

Oh my gosh, first of all the places spectacular and it's beauty and cleanliness. Everyone is so attentive. We were with the 2 1/2 year-old and they made sure we had our food immediately as well as gave him a cup of the lid without asking the food was amazing. Icouldn't get enough. The flavors were incredible on the meat as well as a freshness of the guacamole which I'm really picky about definitely cannot wait to go back if they were so attentive to everything and so kind the food was spectacular. My picture don't do justice, but had to share it because it was so good. read more

I go in there quite frequently and always enjoy the food and the service. I went Thursday August 12 for lunch with friends. The food was just barely warm, and the plates were barely warm also. I don't know what happened because we always have hot plates to keep our food warm and the food is always hot. None of us wanted to complain, which maybe we should have. We will be coming back one more time to see how it goes. The staff that helped us were very friendly and accommodating. read more

Excellent food, ambiance and service. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Always delicious!

Had a very good experience at this place, the food is amazing. We had veggie enchiladas and it was sooooo goooood!! My husband liked his chicken enchiladas too! The onions and mushrooms were so delicious in my veggie enchiladas, I wanted to thank the chef myself! Give this place a try, hopefully you'll like it as much as we did! read more

Time for an update! I guess I keep coming back because it's convenient (on the way out of town) and they have a patio (to escape Covid even for us vaxed people who really don't want a Delta breakthrough). So, the last two times here, I have really enjoyed my food! Today I ate the burrito express from the lunch menu. It had guacamole, so I was happy. Of course, their cabbage salsa is yummy with a nice spicy little kick. I also love the remodel (even if it happened several years ago)... it is a lovely building and has a nice big parking lot. read more

Today we needed lunch and wanted an outdoor patio. Fortunately, we drove by, noticed that the patio was almost empty, and decided that we should eat here. Service was fast and water and chips and dip were provided quickly. We were allowed a few minutes to decide what we wanted and the waitress was back to take our order. I decided to have the chicken burrito with rice and beans. An excellent choice as the chicken tasted like it had just been barbecued. The amount of chicken in my burrito was very generous. Overall a great lunch spot. If you are in a hurry you will be able to eat here in well under an hour at lunchtime. Parking is plentiful in the private parking lot. read more

Good Americanized Mexican food in a beautifully decorated space with unfortunately bright lighting that makes it seem like a Home Depot's lighting department! Half the customers were wearing baseball caps, and I wishe dI had one, too! The food was exactly as you would expect form a small chain sit-down Mexican restaurant, with nothing standing out, but all certainly fine. The Cadillac Margarita was excellent, especially with an added sqeeze of lime to cut the sweetness. Service was just okay. read more

Food is consistent and so is service! Easy family dining. More modern Mexican food. Sometimes to cheesy for me, but the service and friendly staff make up for it. read more

Dinner was excellent! I had the veggie enchiladas and was thrilled. Probably the best veggie enchiladas I have ever had! 5 stars for my dish. Husband had the carne asada. He rated it a 4.5 out of 5. Father had Arroz Con Pollo and he rated it a 4.5 out of 5 and he is very picky. Daughter had shredded chicken tacos. She is not a fan of Mexican food and we were lucky to talk her into it, so take this 4 of 5 rating as a piece of sand in Cabo (who doesn't like Mexican food!?!? Not sure she is mine). Mom had 2 chicken enchiladas and she is the most honest person EVER! She gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Jesse was our server and was very efficient and attentive! I didn't time it, but think we had our meals in about 10 minutes. That could be off due to the time warp the Cadillac margaritas (yes plural...don't judge me...you don't know my life) put me into, but I'm still going to say it was delivered at top speed. MACH 1 is close. Deep fried ice cream..... how I love you so. You are the fine lining of heaven. I'm certain of that. read more

Friendly staff. Large portions. Fast service. Reasonably priced. I don't even know how many times we've been here over the years, but enough that I feel I can give a fair and honest review. It's kind of a toss up on what I like the most at El Sombrero. Service or food? Both are bueno. read more

Working in town and decided to have dinner here with co workers. The ambiance was nice. Beautiful building and decor. The service was ok. Took 15 mins to get a shot of patron. Food was bland. I got the carne asada burrito and it was burnt. All I tasted with every bit was burnt charred carne asada. I think there is better and cheaper medical food in town. I paid 22 dollars for a carne asada Burrito filled with rice and beans read more

El Sombrero - Number 100 Why would you need anything else comes with chips salsa and your choice of corn or flour tortillas - Mexican Near Me - Walla Walla, Washington

This spot had the virtue of being across the street from the Best Western where we were staying. And it turned out to be a good choice. Well run, decent food, ample portions, reasonable prices, and attentive and friendly staff. A high-ceiling main dining room with many windows letting in plenty of natural light. Generous pours in the glasses of wine. Parking, if needed. One thing to note. If you're not ready to eat right away, don't place your food order. Linger a while with the chips and salsa. Our meals arrived in a flash. Almost too wuickly. A virtue and a flaw at the same time. The food was good but not flashy or memorable. Three stars. But i added a star because it was such a well organized and well run operation. read more

Food is always good and fast. Service is spot on never have an empty glass, chips or salsa. Love the environment always a favorite.

We just left the restaurant and we were charged prices different than what they have on their website. I brought this to their attention and they informed me that they weren't on yelp anymore to check their website for prices and I said I did and I just did it again and the one meal was $10 cheaper on their website. they assured me that they would give me the lower price. I told him it wasn't about the money. It was the principle of the thing the other was two dollars more. They brought me the bill and they charged me the higher prices, I paid it because it wasn't about the money it's about the principal we will not be going there again. read more

After a long day of wine tasting and getting back into town late from the vineyards, we needed dinner. We visited El Sombrero as a last resort, since it's one of the only restaurants open later than 9pm. Oh, small towns...gotta love 'em. El Sombrero has a really nice space. It's a very large restaurant with plenty of seating, tall ceilings and colorful decor. We were one of the only two parties here, and the other was dining at the bar. Meanwhile, we were getting takeout, so sat in a booth as we waited for our food. It was nice of them to bring us chips and salsas while we waited. I ordered the Chicken Tacos combo plate for takeout, and it was A-OK. The entree was neatly packed up, and they even gave me a bag of chips, which was really nice of them. I just thought the shredded chicken tasted bland, so it really needed some salsa or somethin'. The tortillas were flour, so were soft, but was hard to pick up and eat since it was so flimsy. I ended up eating my entree with a fork and knife. The entire meal tasted like average Mexican-American food. I was just glad that I didn't go to bed hungry. read more

El Sombrero - Chicken Tacos Combo Plate Takeout - Mexican Near Me - Walla Walla, Washington

Ok, don't do what I did and forget that Cinco de Mayo tends to be crowded at a family Mexican cuisine restaurant and just show hungry and unprepared. But, thankfully the staff apparently took pity on my tears and seated us immediately. The service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is colorful and fun. I found the food above average and portioned to require a box for the leftovers. We'll done El Sombrero, I look forward to another visit down the road. read more

For starters, the bartender here needs to go back to ding-dong school. Absolutely the worst, sour, flavorless piña colada I have ever tasted. At least the beer was cold. My food was an awful soupy mess, and in my opinion, significantly over-priced. They obviously throw the plates into the oven after all the food has been served. Maybe some people like melted cheese on their salad? The average plate here is $20-$30! I enjoyed the ambiance. I enjoyed my beer. I wish that was all I ordered. read more

Chips and two kinds of salsa came right out along with our tasty beverages. Mary had the chimichanga, which was delicious. I had the fish taco; the fish had a lightly breaded and seasoned fish perfectly cooked, the best I have ever had. read more

Their food was not the best. I ordered a chicken burrito, I got steak. They took it back and brought me a chicken burrito about ten minutes later. Walked in, server looked at me and walked to the kitchen. Five minutes later, she emerged and seated me. Ordered a margarita with upgraded tequila...didn't help as it was not very good. Ordered queso which the menu said was with various peppers...came out as only soupy melted cheese and that was it...also, very, very salty. Asked the waitress who said, "That's the way we serve it." I pointed out the menu description which resulted in no reaction. Decided to cut my losses so I sent back the queso, paid for the margarita even though I drank about 20% and left. read more

Stunning venue with amazing food and friendly staff! It feels very clean and up scale but the prices are fair! We love this place!!

After rolling into Walla Walla ... (4 hour road trip) we needed food. Mexican sounded good, and this one was right across the street from our hotel. The patio seating on a warm summer's day was perfect. Hot, crisp tortilla chips were served right away with two kinds of salsa. (good and better). I had the tostada/enchilada combination. The husband had 2 enchiladas. We were both happy with the portion size, the temperature of the food, and most importantly, the flavorful food. Service was prompt and accurate. We walked away happy customers with no complaints to lodge. Next time, I'd add guacamole and/or sour cream to my enchilada.... read more
