YUMMY HIDDEN GEM! I don't know why I hadn't tried this place sooner! In one sentence: You need to try this restaurant. I moved to Walla Walla about 4 years ago and have only been going to El Sombrero off of 2nd Ave. and spots like Taqueria Yungapeti and Mi Pueblito. But for some reason, this restaurant just feels like the better Mexican restaurant to dine in. It has better tasting food and bigger portion sizes than El Sombrero. The service was super friendly and the ambiance just felt nice. My only harp--and it's the only reason I knocked off one star--was that it took forever for the waiter to bring our check and I found myself asking for my water cup to be refilled a couple of times. But overall, this restaurant is a hidden gem and I highly recommend you give this resto a try. read more

Everything was on-point. The Habernero salsa was so dang spicy and flavorful I couldn't stop eating it. Ordered the 7 Mares, rich flavor, would love to see some jumbo prawns or head on shrimp in it. Thursday night dinner with some co workers looking for some Mexican and we decided on Chiquillas. I liked the look and feel of the restaurant and there were only a few people eating. The chips and two different salsas were delicious which ended up bringing back more. I ordered an appetizer of the deep fried taquitos but they ended up coming out right before our meal. Didn't even have enough time to get through them all but we eventually polished them off. Everyone enjoyed their meals but I would recommend a looking into a different cut of meat for the carne asada. read more

Good food, big portions they have an interesting enchilada trio which you get a verde, an ala crema, and a red sauce one, the chili relleno was not great, the chalupa was big and pretty good, rice was good, beans were good, pretty big portions, they have two salsas one has cabbage, we went a half hour before closing and did not feel rushed at all really good service read more

Our Father's Day was complete with dining here! My husband enjoyed the Beef Tapatio Burrito with rice and beans. I had the Beef Fajitas Rancheres with Bacon Wrapped Shrimp also served with rice and beans. The food was delicious!!!!! Our servers were awesome, friendly, courteous and so much fun. Driving around Walla Walla and decided Mexican would be a good choice. Turns out the choice was good but the food and service was not. I was sat in an empty section. Not sure why as the two other sections each only had a few tables with customers. I was asked if I was ready to order a few seconds after I was handed the menu. Seriously, hand menu, and three beats later, menu not opened the expectation was I could order. I said I'd like a few minutes and got two. Ordered the carne assada. The beans were liquid, the rice ice,the meat fatty,chewy and all stuck together. Once the food was dropped off I didn't see the server until she handed me the bill. No water refills. No asking if I wanted anything else. It was...bill and get out. And the server was not a young person but someone old enough to know and do better. I would not go back and I can't think of a reason anyone should go once. read more

Walla Walla County along with the entire nation is going through a pandemic and is dealing with the Corona Virus, unfortunately. For the majority of us the normalcy of day to day living has completely changed and we are all as a community trying our hardest to be able to maintain someone of our "before Covid" lives. This brings me to La Chiquillas restaurant. My buddy and I were just outrageously famished and were craving a taste of Central America. Luckily La Chiquillas was located a short drive for us and was open. Not only just open for carry out but open for outdoor dining. Now take this into consideration. On this day it was actively snowing and about 10 degrees above freezing. When we arrived they had a phenomenal set up with multiple tables all placed the appropriate distance from each other. As well as having a heater that warmed me like I was on a beach in Hawaii. Also present were great protection from the elements that maintained some insulation as well as protected us from the snow that was falling like cats and dogs. We were met by the most wonderfully charismatic and friendly waitress who was so well spoken and polite. I experienced the greatest waitress to patron interaction I have ever had in Walla Walla in my 30 years of being ALIVE. The wait time for our food felt nonexistent as well as being one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. Not only was the food phenomenal but so was the conversation with the wait staff. The kindness at this restaurant knows no bounds and this is a true example of the hospitality that Walla Walla has to offer. Everyone should absolutely experience this restaurant. Doesn't look like much when you pass by but let me tell you DELICIOUS!!!! I got the shrimp wrapped with bacon, which is my favorite dish, not too many restaurants can make it right. Well this spot did it perfect! Better then anywhere else, literally! My wife isn't too enthused with Mexican Restaurants and she also gives this a 5 Start!!!! After we walked out on Dominick's (see my review), we still needed dinner. So we and our friends decided to try Las Chiquillas. This is how a restaurant should be! What a breathtaking difference. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly waitress who seated us. Chips and salsa, boom...within seconds. The menus had the best choices I've seen in any Mexican restaurant. My wife, a vegetarian, had an entire page of vegetarian options to choose from. I thought it was odd they had the lunch menu tucked into the menus until my friend told me to flip it over. TONS of seafood! Oh, yes. I had the 7 Mares, and it was sensational...kind of a Latino take on cioppino. Everyone really loved what they ordered - four for four. And the beers and margaritas are generous. The place was buzzing and everyone got great service from the three person wait staff, a HUGE contrast to the two waitresses trying to handle a half-filled Dominick's. They made a point to wave at us as we left - while they were singing happy birthday to another table. Fast. Friendly. And GREAT food. A home run. We'll be back. read more

[Note: unlike most Yelpers, I rarely give five stars.] Is every Mexican restaurant in Walla Walla the best Mexican restaurant in Walla Walla? Actually, most of them are very good; so far, none of them have blown me away as being The Best. So, as with most of them, Las Chiquillas has good points and bad points. The decor is pretty cool; an amazing display of hand-painted murals and decor that feels very appropriate and fun. It was a bit chilly; I got goosebumps, although I chill more easily than most people, so you probably won't need a sweater. Service was okay. My lemonade sat empty twice before our waiter came by to refill it, despite (or because) the fact there were only four or five other parties dining while we were there. On the other hand, when I asked our waiter for recommendations, she was happy to offer guidance, which I appreciated. My dining partner got Camarones Mexicano (shrimp), and I got Combo #2 (it was on special as part of their one-year anniversary), which was a tamale, taco, and enchilada. The menus were surprisingly good. Both in the "there are a lot of items to choose from, many of them interesting and tasty-sounding" as well as the "this is an easy-to-read, attractive and appealing object" sense. The customary chips were the usual, but came with two sauces, a smooth red spicy one, and a salsa that seemed to be mostly cabbage, rather than the usual tomato-based one. I'm not generally a big fan of cabbage, but I really liked the salsa. It was a nice change from the usual. The combo plate was also outfitted with the usual rice and beans. There was a generous amount of cheese, and the taco was positioned so that lettuce and tomato spilled across the plate. In a good way; it was a presentation thing, and quite attractive. It turned out that it also concealed the fact that the tamale was unusually big. The tamale and enchilada (chicken) were both pleasant but typical examples of the class. No complaints, but not world-shaking, either. The taco was better. I don't think it was a hand-made corn shell, but once I picked it up, the lettuce that remained was just the right amount. The ground beef was spiced well; flavorful but not needlessly hot. Speaking of hot, I realized that our waiter hadn't issued the usual warning about the plate being hot, so I checked it with my hand. Hey! What a concept: serving food on a plate that's *warm*. Warm enough to keep the food from cooling, not so hot that you have to caution the patrons. If you're jonesing for a taco-truck-like experience, you'll probably be happier at Yungapeti or Mi Pueblito. If you want to sit down and have a somewhat more formal meal, Las Chiquillas is a good bet. read more

We eat here every couple of weeks. Love the Gold margarita on the rocks with cazadorez, good beer selection, Dos Equis on tap. Favorites hands down are the Fajitas Rancheros which comes with some shrimp wrapped in bacon. We also love the pollo or Camerones Diabla. The sauce is homemade and a bit spicy, but not blow your head off spicy. Veggies are always fresh. Waitstaff are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It's our go to place for sit down Mexican. Upon arriving we didn't know what doors to enter through so we just chose one. It must of been the wrong entrance because the hostess wasn't too happy. The service was very slow, but the salsa was tasty. I ordered the arroz con pollo expecting a flavorful dish. However that was not the case. The tortillas were very good though. The chicken was very dry and the menu claimed it came with a side of rice and beans, but I never got any. Was so excited to visit this restaurant after looking at the pictures of the dishes on yelp. We got to the restaurant and didn't know what doors to enter. We must have entered the wrong ones because the hostess didn't seem happy to greet us. We were sat at a table and given chips and salsa. It was very good. The waitress took awhile to come take our order. We were given our drinks, but didn't get refills when they were needed. Our food came out and that is when our disappointment began. The food was warm, not hot. Our dishes didn't come with beans. The meat was dry and over cooked. On a plus side, the margarita, salsa, and tortillas were amazing. read more

Food was okay, it was busy and hostess put us in a dark corner. I don't think our waitress knew we were there for 15 mins. About the time she did a 10 top near us order came out so took longer to get to us. Not her fault but she was running around so much she never could get us refills and charged for an item we never got. That was corrected when we paid. But the kicker is when we paid, the lady at the till forgot our change and when she did hand it back she rolled her eyes and walked off. read more
