I moved to Walla Walla about 4 years ago and have only been going to El Sombrero off of 2nd Ave. and spots like Taqueria Yungapeti and Mi Pueblito. But for some reason, this restaurant just feels like the better Mexican restaurant to dine in. It has better tasting food and bigger portion sizes than El Sombrero. The service was super friendly and the ambiance just felt nice. My only harp--and it's the only reason I knocked off one star--was that it took forever for the waiter to bring our check and I found myself asking for my water cup to be refilled a couple of times. But overall, this restaurant is a hidden gem and I highly recommend you give this resto a try.

Usually when you order Mexican food the food is fresh and warm. Not the case with my order today…read morefrom this place. Ordered a side of rice and beans and to my surprise the rice was dry and burnt and tasted like it was made yesterday. The beans were the absolute worst food ive ever tasted. They still had the shape of the can they came out of and the nasty juice at the bottom was just too much. I called and they confirmed. These refried beans aren't refried fresh from beans they make in house. They are canned beans that are simply warmed up and thrown in your bag. I'm sure I'm not the only person to notice the difference in quality compared to the outrages $8 charge for this side of rice and beans. $8 for old dry Burt rice and nasty disgusting canned beans. It was clean and we got seated right when we walked in. The chicken and carne asada was great. The chicken taquito good. The enchilada was meh. The jalapeño poppers... what? No thanks. I tried one and it was not hot and not my idea of a good time. For 2 meals and 2 beers, it was about $100. It was just an okay experience for me and I personally wouldn't need a repeat and would look at other options when in the area next.

You can get their suadero brisket beef in tacos, in a burger, or in a torta. I have had them all and recommend either their suadero brisket tacos or burger. You will NOT be disappointed. Their fries and nachos are also massive. Out of all the times I have ordered nachos or fries here, I have had 2-3 other friends with me and we still had plenty of leftover. Their wait staff are also friendly and outgoing. If you have any questions about the menu, they are always helpful and you never feel bad about asking for their recommendation(s). The vibe of this place is a cool hipster gastro pub type place and on weekend nights when they have live music, the vibe is poppin with nearly every table full. When they have live music nights, be prepared to yell across the table or to the person next to you as if you were in a nightclub though because it is incredibly loud.
