新年快乐 almost my Piggy New Year ::oink oink::…read more The weather was sunny and slightly warmer than these past few days. I came here today to show my support for Black Label Donuts's Pop Up at this food court! My friend and I waited over 2 hours as we inch by inch got up to the register. I saw many of my peeps such as Raymart (luckily was the first batch of people to get their hands on BLD's donuts), bumped into Lesie, and Lillian (so sweet to offer us samples of her 5 Spice Chocolate Hot Cake Donut and Rosemary Lemon Olive Oil Hot Cake Donut...thank you darling) + Harris. This was an enormous turnout and the line was all the way from the bottom of steps by the elevators and side doors of Queens Crossing. When we were so close, someone came over with a sampling tray of 5 Spice Chocolate and Raspberry Chocolate. I liked the Raspberry Chocolate ::sad face:: the last one went home with someone that was ahead of us and another couple. I got a hug from my friend Richard Eng, the magnificent creator of Black Label Donuts. My friend ordered Honey Crisp Chai Hot Cider...beautiful presentation and don't cover it with a lid...I had a sip of hers...very refreshingly tasty I got a Matcha Pistachio Old Fashioned (couldn't try because of my allergies), a 5 Spice Chocolate, and a Rosemary Lemon Olive Oil (I preferred this one over the lemon curd one). I love his donuts with a filling more but the hot cake donuts were yummy especially Rosemary Lemon Olive Oil! This coming July will be marking the 3 years that I have been a fan of Black Label Donuts woooohoooooooo! Raymart and I are one of the OG fans of BLD yo =) Follow him on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/blacklabeldonuts/) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BlackLabelDonuts/) xoxo

Cuisine: 7 Service: 5…read moreDecor: 4 Value: 9 Overall: 7 Inside the Arcadia Mall on Main Street, there is a restaurant from FuZhou that's been serving the locals for over the last 8 years. It is the opposite of fancy, but you can always get a decent meal here for a very good price. Imho, their best item is the mini steamed pork buns ($3 for 4), which have a nice fluffy dough filled with juicy and delicious ground pork. When you are lucky and receive a new batch, these little guys are a home run. Where else can you get breakfast/lunch for $3? I sometimes but them frozen at $24 for 40 pieces. Their mini pork ball dumplings are very good too, though very different than everywhere else I have had the dish. There is a extremely pronounced celery flavor that will either make you love or hate them. I still prefer the version (10 for $3.50) at Tantou King, but these are a wonderful change of pace. With that said, these do cost more at 12 for $5. Another great option for lunch or dinner is their steam table with about 30 choices of proteins and veggies. Here are the various deals listed in Chinese. - 3 items & soup: $8.50 - 4 items & soup: $10.00 - After 7pm: $7.50 - After 8pm: $6.50 - Monthly pass (30 meals): $270 This is a common blue collar meal that offers a patron variety and value. I have nit tried too many items, but what I had was hot and generally tasty. Btw, seating at this restaurant is first come first served. Not good for large groups. You will likely have to share tables with strangers. Like I said, not fancy, just a quick meal or grab-n-go type of place where their regulars can get a taste of home.

Both were delicious. They are eaten cold but I reheated the chicken. The chicken comes whole but it is so tender that you can easily rip it apart by hand! Will come back to try other things.

At $2.95 each I got a baked roast pork bun, and a pineapple topping custard bun. Both were very big and every component was high-quality. The pork inside was a natural looking sauce - not bright red, the pork was cut up into regular pieces/strips it was like a healthy meal. The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! AND they were also warm! The shop's pretty simple with maybe 10 different items, also frozen baos to go, lotus wrapped sticky rice and tarts, the homemade pineapple cakes looked good. I got a Hong Kong milk tea (hot) $2.25, but the flavors weren't that strong. There were a lot of students picking up snacks, probably from nearby Queens, College, young families, a grandpa and his adult grandson came in for hot milk tea, and egg tarts. The two auntie's working the counter or very friendly and trilingual - Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Ordering was extremely easy. The broth here is always richer here for some reason while others tastes a bit watered down. It's also the only one I think that offers combo meals. You can get a delish bowl of the classic old duck vermicelli noodle soup with some soup dumplings (I think $15 or so) or soup without rice noodles with pan seared dumplings. The noodle soup by itself is $10, great deal. I always get the mixed organs one, it's just a mix of duck blood, liver, and gizzards. The seating arrangement is much better and more spacious now post renovation, used to be elbow to elbow with whomever sat next to you. Try it out, I'd like to say the hidden gem here is their soup dumplings....the wrapper skin is very thin and full of soup! Better than places that specializes in soup dumplings even. Being a fan of Peking Duck, Quicitop's Peking Duck Jian Bing sounded like a big win. Hadn't noticed…read moreit on the menu of other Jian Bing places in Flushing. They have a wide range of Jian Bing options. Quicitop, a stall inside the same mini food court as Corner 28 with its English name in an almost illegibly small font under its gigantic Chinese name, offers that and more. Along with that, I ordered one of the Chinese style "Beef Patties" to go. (I'm not sure if there's seating in back, however I was taking it with to eat at Citified before the Mets Game.) The woman preparing my Jian Bing behind the counter was totally friendly and quick. This Peking Duck Jian Bing, a sizeable Chinese filled crepe with egg, lettuce and other vegetables, black sesame, was customized with Peking Duck and what appeared to be Hoi Sin Sauce. Additionally she folded within the crepe, as I've had elsewhere a large fried wonton sheet. While I saw some duck as I ate, the fried wonton in particular disproportionately distracted from any enjoyable Peking Duck flavor. If I ordered it again, I'd ask to leave out the wonton. Also, would recommend others do the same. The Beef Patties, in its crispy, flaky, filo dough type bun, was quite tasty, reasonably priced, and something I'd consider reordering. Quicitop might be a place to try their other options, including Jian Bing alternatives such as their batter upgrades of Spinach or Purple Rice.
