New Year, New Me?...not quite. It's 6 days into the year, and in previous years, I'd be trying to hit up the gym like everyone else. This year, I'm a year wiser and realized these short term changes won't do anything but the long term habits are what will actually change your life. I have been looking for healthier eating options, when I stumbled upon HS Green. It is in the Strip center with Spec's and 24 HR Fitness, so it was very easy to find and this lot can be a pain to find parking, but I usually can find something in the back. Back to the above point, it's actually a good thing to get a few more steps in each day anyways. Once you enter, the restaurant is split up into the Bar area (coffee, beer, and wine) and the main line. They have a giant menu on the wall, with the foods split up into different sections: Pizzas, Salads, Wraps, Features, Bites & Soups. It was a bit overwhelming so I asked the gentlemen working behind the counter what are the most popular dishes. Depending on how he answers, I can determine if he's just trying to sell something or if he is giving me legitimate advice. He gave 1 item per section, which I took as legitimate suggestions. I ended up opting for his suggest from the Pizza section - TRUFFLE INFUSED ROASTED MUSHROOMS & CHICKEN. Since it was freezing cold outside, I decided to add on a cup of CHICKEN, MUSHROOM & LEEK soup also. As far as the pizza, it's about 10 inches, the dough is super thin, but it is plenty big to share, or for one person, you should have leftovers. Their line was interesting, it's taking on the customization trends where you can actually add items to your order. I kept it simple and only added on artichokes to my pizza (no extra charge). As you continue down the line and reach the register, you pay and I was given a number (for when my pizza would be done) and my soup. I put my number down and went to fill my cup with homemade lemonade; this stuff is fresh! By the time, I had returned to my table with my drink the pizza had arrived! They were really quick! The soup was HOT!, which is a good thing, too many places serve lukewarm soup. I like it piping hot, especially on a cold day. It was packed full of meat! I also hate places that skimp out on the protein. As far as the pizza, it was delicious, the crust was crispy, the toppings were piled on high. It wasn't overwhelming. After eating it, I didn't feel sluggish, like I normally do with other pizzas. Overall, I was very happy with my lunch decision. Pretty cool place here. We wanted to get more of a light snack then main dishes and found they had a happy hour menu. There is a good amount of items with decent prices. We ended up getting three different things from the happy hour menu. The food was good. I like the jalapeño ranch and the humans had really good flavor. The place seems a lot bigger then it looks from the outside. Tons of seating and a bar area in the middle. You can easily come in here with your laptop and work while you eat without issue it just has that kind of vibe. Everything is sleek and modern looking. I like that they have a lot of people on staff. There was always someone there to help us at anytime. There are a few parking spaces dedicated to the site up front but the parking gets full and pretty busy, that's just normal. You can easily park close by the restaurant. read more

So I've been working out for the past year, and I've finally decided to start throwing healthier foods into my diet. I got on Yelp and I typed in healthy foods... never did I expect healthy food to taste this damn good!!! Just like my workouts I need a pre meal to go along with my real meal. Lol I eat a lot! So for my pre meal I ordered a kids grilled chicken strips with a fruit bowl, which was delicious! Shortly after that was out the way, my real food came. The chicken sandwich with chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were fresh and crunchy, just like I like my chips and salsa! When I finally hit into my chicken sandwich my tastebuds took off running, I couldn't keep up with them. I ate my sandwich in maybe 3 bites! Not only was the food excellent, I think more importantly the service was even better than the food! Elliot went above and beyond to make sure that my first time there was better than my first time any where else. I have no idea why he was so nice, he was working hard, and making it look EASY! I don't know what his title is there, but I definitely hope that this helps him get a raise or something. When it was time for me to leave I was upset that I didn't have any cash on me. I had already left a tip at the counter, but I really, really feel like he deserved a tip of his own, I will never go back to that place without having cash on me again. His service was so good I wanted to leave and get cash and come back and give it to him... I didn't want to seem weird though, but next time, I'm going to show my appreciation for both visits. I loveee this place because the food is healthy and comes out quickly, so it's a good alternative to fast food. I ordered the Vietnamese wrap for $10ish and was surprised how large it was because I only finished half at lunch and had the rest for dinner. It also comes with a side of fruit (grapes, strawberries, pineapple) or chips, so it's a really great deal. Also the peanut sauce is hands down the best I've ever had! Some things I noted are as follows: 1) I'm sure there's an option to make your own wrap/salad, but I didn't see info or prices about that - wasn't asked if I wanted to add anything onto my wrap either. 2) The smoothies/drinks aren't on the main menu but are on hand-held menus at the bar in middle. 3) Happy hour is from M-F from 3-7 and you'll have to ask for that menu separately. 4) Overall, you'll have to ask for just about everything you need because the staff isn't very attentive nor proactively helpful. 5) Update: just went on their website to look at their menu some more and realized that there's a rewards program. Went here for lunch and ordered to go. Waited 25 minutes for one sandwich and when I got it, it was cold!!!! Chicken was cold and dry. Not to mention completely messy. I came two days in a row! That's how much I enjoyed it. Mmm I'm always on the hunt for a quick dinner to pick up on my way home from work. This Houston traffic really gets your tummy grumbling I've heard about HS greens for awhile just never thought it was anything crazy to stop in & try. I picked up the Thai shrimp wrap with a cup of tortilla soup and fruit as the side. The wrap was so yummy and fresh. I love those clear noodles! I went again the next day for lunch and got a kale Caesar wrap and that was bomb too. Not too overpowering as I worried it might have been. We also tried the guacamame. Chips were stale, as I figured they might be by the way they have them out. we switched it out for the grilled flatbread. This dish was just "okay" I'm a fan. I was looking for a healthy food option and this place came up in my trusty Yelp search. Upon entering, I immediately fell in love with the open, bright concept. It actually is similar to ordering at a Chipotle or MOD Pizza. The food is behind the counter, readily available to assemble (of course it depends on what you are actually ordering). I elected for the Southwest Chicken Wrap so I was able to see everything assembled right before me. Everything on the "bar" looked super fresh and very inviting to the eye. I saw the rotisserie chicken and ALMOST changed my order! It looked divine! For some of the items that require cooking, such as burgers, those are cooked in the back. So no, there are no ready-made burgers from what I saw. My wrap came with either a side of tortilla chips/salsa or fruit cup. Because of the greedy foodie that I am, I chose the tortilla chips. You can't be TOO healthy, right? However, if you are more calorie conscious, fruit would obviously be the better option. I checked in via Yelp so I was eligible for a free offer - a glass of the "house lemonade." The wrap was good, but what made it GREAT was the accompanying lime cilantro dressing. This literally was DIVINE! I got the dressing on the side to test it out. I now know that I will just have it slathered in the mix of the wrap. It is quite amazing. Tortilla chips were good. Salsa was great. Appropriate portion size. I was definitely full and satisfied. I enjoyed the lemonade -- it was not overly sweet. I love the menu here. This place is soo delicious and healthy!! It's a win win situation. I get excited trying new healthy restaurants that still burst with flavor. I also love looking at a menu and seeing multiple things I want to try. That means I'll be back! I ordered the shrimp Mediterranean salad which was surprisingly quite filling. I think I would've loved the salad more with something other than shrimp though. Nonetheless, the salad was fantastic and worth a try. I got the watermelon juice as my drink and didn't love it at first. It has 3 ingredients...watermelon, lime and mint. I thought it tasted very citrus-ey and sour at first but it definitely grew on me. It's quite pricey though so I'm not sure I would order the drink again. You get three tacos and each taco came with two shrimp inside, however, they were tasty. Also ordered a hummus to share with my friend and although the portion was generous, I found the hummus a bit too garlicky for me but my friend loved it. Such a great salad spot. They've got a really nice variety of different salads all at a great price. I wish they'd expand over to the West Coast. After a week of eating and drinking indulgently, it was so refreshing to find a fresh salad and smoothie spot. I had their salmon salad and it was amazing. It's a perfect portion and you might even have extra to save for later. I liked my grilled salmon and the dressing was delicious. I also love that there's a smoothie bar inside too to add on to your meal. They make their smoothies with fresh ingredients too-- no frozen stuff or premixed anything. Fresh decor and fresh ingredients at fair price. Truffle pizza is a MUST at this place! (5/5) I always tell myself that I should really try something new but every time ... I get the truffle pizza. Another plus is that it comes out within 10 minutes or so even though it's made fresh! Trust me and get this pizza... I can probably finish one by myself if I wasn't worrying about calories. Thai Salad with Grilled Shrimp (4/5) This salad has really low calories yet it's so good! I remember enjoying it because the noodles gave it a nice texture and the sauce was really refreshing. Has bits of mangos and avocados. Yum! Mediterranean Shrimp salad (3.5/5) Unimpressed for it being $14. Organic juices that make you feel good about yourself after drinking them. That would be the summary of my visit at HS greens. Wait, I take that back. Delicious salads and healthy choices. There should be more HS greens. I believe this has to be one of my favorite organic lunch places in Houston Texas. My favorite juice on the menu is the Beet Apple carrot juice. I got to taste around the table and everything was impressive. But I think they really win in the brunch/lunch department. Their lunch items look the most appealing. All three were tasty and made fresh in front of me. One good perk about eating here is everything is cooked to order so your guaranteed fresh food every time. Lately, I've had bad customer service and when my order was poorly made and I returned to the restaurant to show them and ask for them to correct it, there were no apologies made, no contrition no empathy for me having to return. The chef even tried to convince me that he was making my meal the exact same way. The rudeness was disheartening. I order the same wraps every time I'm there and I know when food is poorly prepared. Another awesome dinner here. This is easily my favorite restaurant in Houston. Here's why... HS Green has the freshest, most delicious dishes. Their menu is 5 stars. The duck pizza is so bomb, so is the duck salad. Everything I've ordered here is incredible. I never custom order anything because every dish is perfect as is. They are quick, you can pay the counter, no waiter, no wait! Easy and convenient. I wish they had more locations, hopefully in the near future they'll have more. I love that they have a separate coffee bar that i think serves ice cream and treats too. They also have cold pressed juice. wow this place has everything!! You can order your food at the counter and while you wait, get a coffee or enjoy a cold pressed juice! This restaurant is always clean, and they have wifi, good natural lighting, i like their tables/seating, easy parking (okay maybe rush hour the parking is competitive, but that's to be expected), if you're worried about parking you can call ahead and order food and park in the 30 minute parking spot. A great place in an area without a lot of fast casual dining. This place is in the shadows of the Galleria, in the middle of town, with great, easy parking. I always get the turkey chili when I stop in for lunch. It is a great low carb alternative and they serve it lightning fast! The staff is friendly and quick to help you out. I have lunched there over ten times and the food and service is always consistent and predictable. I'll see you there at lunch! Hopefully they will open more of these around the city.
