The burger - very flavorful and well cooked, though I could probably do with just a smidge less butter on the bun and onions. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

You order at the counter and the server will bring the food out to you. We got chicken and waffle & chicken and pancake, French toast with side of scrambled eggs, and an iced lavender latte and English breakfast hot tea. The food & drinks quickly came out, which is always greatly appreciated when dining with kids. The chicken was a generous portion and juicy. The butter had a unique flavor and paired well with the chicken. The pancake and waffle were also big portions. The latte was sweet and well balanced. The manager came around checking on us and was very attentive when I needed to request an extra cup of hot water for our tea. The floral wall decor and light fixture gives such a cozy vibe. Service was top notch and friendly! We definitely will consider coming back soon again.

Portions are large/filling and we felt the food was delicious and a good value for money. When we arrived the line was long and menus were not available so we had to search for the menu on the website to avoid deciding at the counter and holding up the people behind us. After ordering, tables were cleaned consistently and service was friendly. Only feedback about seating was outside parties would take chairs from other tables and leave them with no seating and not all tables we're shaded. The drinks being available at the bar when it is busy and then food being delivered to the table was a bit clunky. I picked up water and utensils for our party before sitting and would have preferred to have to pick everything up at the counter or have everything brought to the table to avoid multiple trips around when the restaurant is busy.

It's a neighborhood staple and has been my family's go to spot when we're in the Meyerland area since 1989! I love the service model of these Tex Mex places, every body always asks if you need something not just the waiter. This go round I had the shrimp enchiladas with charro beans and an Ultimate Margarita. My wife had the #6 Combo with cheese enchiladas, puffy queso, and crispy taco. Shrimp Enchiladas are my usual order and it was great as always. The shrimp were crisp and fresh not rubbery or overcooked and the cream sauce and melted cheese on top was rich and flavorful. The Ultimate Margarita was amazing, not too tequila forward and didn't taste like premade mix. My wife loved the puffy queso and cheese enchiladas, I ate her taco and finished off the rest of her plate too. My final note, visit these old school tex mex places while you can because one day they'll be gone, or worse open a trendy rebrand. Then all that's left will be huge corporate chains like Gringo's.

(#1) The good news is that the venue is updated, it's far more spacious with outdoor seating, service is prompt and courteous, and more importantly, the food is still excellent. In the space that was the ultra divey, former burger spot (Lee's Burger & Mo), they've transformed the space brilliantly. There was a pathway at one point for a drive-thru, but I don't think this was retained. Instead there's more parking space, which in a place like Houston is already a luxury in itself. In the past they were known primarily for their tamales, breakfast tacos, and enchiladas, but the menu has since expanded to include more platter-based items such as carne asada and grilled fish. Naturally the prices have also increased, but has remained fairly affordable and the accept credit cards. Ordering in Spanish is always preferred, but much of the staff also speaks English. I still dream of their breakfast plates and despite the change I've still never seen it so busy that I couldn't find a place to sit. This still remains one of the most slept on places in this part of town. __________ (#1) Should probably be under a different Yelp listing as well.

I am so fortunate to live near Don Pepe. I just returned from Mexico City and having withdrawal from the lack of Mexican food in my kitchen. Don Pepe to the rescue!!! In their new location just around the corner, the menu is much more expansive and I'm on a journey to work my way through that menu. This is not TexMex if that's what you're looking for. This is authentic Mexican food like I enjoyed in Mexico City. The owner who is always present and most often working the counter for orders, is so nice and accommodating. I am a vegetarian and he, without fail, accommodates my request for no meat in any dish. I am addicted to Don Pepe breakfast tacos. Little did I know, there is so much more. I arrived home from Mexico City Tuesday evening. Wednesday I needed my Mexican food fix, so I went straight to Don Pepe for lunch. I had the avocado enchiladas. Outstanding! After eating healthily between Wednesday and today, I needed yet another Don Pepe meal. This time I had the papas con rajas with fresh corn tortillas. AMAZING! I'm not sure I can ever order anything else here. I was a little worried the charm of the previous location would be lost when they relocated. Nope! Charming as ever and stylishly decorated with much of the artwork from the previous location. Wish me luck staying away from Don Pepe! Oh and most importantly, they have quite an array of Mexican candy at the counter where you order! That was a very pleasant surprise and yeah, I bought a piece of candy to take home for dessert.

My only caveat is that I've never been here without having to wait in a long line to order. It's popular for a reason though. Easy to go when app is working and there's rewards Areas to improve 1. There is a 5% included to go fee just FYI 2. This mashed potato here is very bland and salty compared to San Felipe location. We could not finish our individual servings and did not even give it to the dogs today. It tasted like the dry flakes you buy at the supermarket and mix with milk and the texture was not right. 3. Very boring and bland cheeseburger, very forgettable. The patty was very slim. 4. Helpful to have quality control with the two restaurants, it acts like two different restaurants even though menu is the same! Also I just saw the health report listed. 5. Salmon was raw in the middle when we asked for medium well. 6. Not sure we will eat the chicken and green beans for tomorrow... I prefer their San Felipe location of which I am a regular patron, and came here due to Galleria construction, but given today's very bland or salty food, which was not satisfying at all, I must head back there. This was the worse to go and pick up experience I can think of in a while. My order was $100 plus today for several meals...
