They loaded the truck efficiently and with care for certain items, my main concern being a grandfather clock. Was wrapped and taped up and tightly secured to the side. Everything was nestled in snug as a bug in a rug. Was a two hour drive to where we live. Once there, the truck was the exact same as when loaded. Nothing moved or shifted at all. Professionally done, from start to finish. I can't say anything good or bad on the rates since I didn't have time to compare, but simply not having to do anything ourselves made it worthy. This time, I thought to try ABF because they're a trustworthy freight mover Their containers come in a smaller size than those of PODS. (I'm thinking right now that two of these containers will not hold a 3 bedroom house's contents, per the quote. You can start the quote online, make changes, and even contract for help on either end. After I finished making changes, I called the company with some questions, and as well, to get the process moving. Mark picked up the phone and was friendly and answered the questions reassuringly. It went smoothly, even though I don't have an address at the other end yet. They sent some forms, including one for Gypsy Moths since I'm moving to California. I was told that they charge after they pick up the containers. They asked me to call them when I'm ready to have them picked up. This was confirmed today. There is no early, automatic pick up. However, they have a three day loading period that doesn't cost extra. If you go beyond that, they charge you a storage fee. Since I'm already going to be charged for storage, I think it doesn't matter. Last Friday, they called to set a drop-off time for Monday, and they were closer to the late end of that window, but that's fine. It's better than the Cable company arriving after you return to work, and then, complaining that *you* blew the appointment, right? The driver was friendly and asked where to put the containers. They use a large forklift to move them from the trailer to your selected location, and they have the ability to position them at any of four angles (facing garage, facing away, facing right, facing left). The documentation says to use a flat surface, but a slanted driveway is fine.

I called 2 hours ahead and after they did the Covid paper and "checked in" they had to wait another 25-30 minutes for them to bring up the cube. The cube was supposed to already be to the front. Before moving day, they actually reduced the scope significantly--giving away an entire bedroom set and a sectional--so the job was smaller than what was originally quoted. Despite that, the price remained the same. On top of that, we handled a major portion of the work ourselves. My parents have a large amount of clothing, and we moved all of it before the movers even arrived to make things easier and more efficient. So again, they were doing less work than expected for the same price. The real issue, though, is the condition of what they did move. We took extra time to carefully pack fragile items like dishes to prevent damage. Despite that, a significant number of items still came back broken--not just one or two pieces, but enough to clearly show a lack of care. Even worse, there are items that are now completely missing, including a step ladder and framed pictures. The most upsetting part is the damage to my mother's doll cabinet and collection. She has spent 35-40 years collecting these dolls, and the cabinet that housed them was returned damaged and missing parts to the point where it cannot even be properly reassembled. This isn't just furniture--it's something with real sentimental value, and it was handled carelessly. They also promised to reassemble certain items, including shelving, but failed to do so. Based on the missing parts, it seems likely they couldn't complete it and chose not to address it. To make matters worse, multiple attempts to contact the company afterward have gone unanswered. No follow-up, no accountability, no effort to resolve the situation. This was a smaller, easier move than originally quoted, yet it resulted in broken items, missing belongings, incomplete work, and zero communication afterward. Those google reviews are suspicious to say the least.

They said that they couldn't get everything from my 2nd room apartment in the truck.... My Realtor gave me a brochure for "Welcome Home" when I closed on my condo. To make a long story short, I had about 20 boxes packed and had to leave for a business trip in few days. I had accepted I would be paying rent and a mortgage for a few months unless I got some help. I called Welcome Home on a Thursday, met with the owner on Friday and was moved the following week. Six workers arrived at 8:30am at my old place. Welcome Home has their own truck and boxes, so I didn't have to have anything 'ready'. They took my house as it was -- and it was a disaster! They were warm and friendly. I showed them what to move and left by 9am. I went to work and they packed up 60% of my stuff AND they unpacked it. I came home from work Thursday night to my new condo, with all of the boxes they packed all set up in the new home. The bed was made, flowers on the table and even my clothes and shoes were organized. It was fabulous!!! Now, there was one hiccup and Welcome Home was wonderful about it. The folks moving boxes missed about 10+ boxes in the basement. It took me 3 car loads to move. I was annoyed and mentioned it to the owner. She was quite sympathetic, thanked me for my honesty and then took a bit off the bill. It doesn't get much better than that!
