If you're wondering why this company has so many glowing reviews, read on to learn about the unethical threats, intimidation, and bribery used by the owner, Clark. If not for the owner's behavior, this would be a five-star review. Bruce and Ryne, the two movers who showed up, were phenomenal--professional, respectful, and tireless. They worked quickly but carefully, took only one short break, and kept positive attitudes through an exhausting fourteen-hour day. They were the bright spot in an otherwise dark experience. We chose Clark & Sons because their website emphasizes "strength in unity," professionalism, and care. Sadly, none of those values were reflected in how we were treated. Our written quote clearly stated $189 per hour for a three-man crew and one truck to move our three-bedroom home about twenty-five miles. On October 11, only two movers arrived at 9:15 a.m. They immediately called the company to report they needed help. We overheard multiple calls throughout the day asking for assistance, yet no one was ever sent. Because there were only two movers instead of three, the job took from 9:15 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. At the end of the night, Ryne called the owner, Clark, to discuss payment and handed the phone to my husband. My husband first praised Bruce and Ryne for their hard work, then raised the issue of the missing third mover. Clark's response was hostile, abusive, and threatening. He called us "thieves," said he was driving to Indianapolis and would "turn his car around" to come to our house to "embarrass us in front of our neighbors", and physically attack my husband. When my husband confronted him about his behavior, Clark threatened to call the sheriff. His aggression destroyed any sense of trust. We refused to provide our credit card number, fearing he might overcharge us, and instead requested a secure payment link like the one used for our deposit. Five days later, on October 16 around 11 p.m., my husband began receiving repeated calls from 513-264-2622. When he finally answered, the same man admitted it was him--the same Clark who had threatened us--and said he was "frustrated that day." He then demanded that my husband make me remove a review, even though I had not written one. When my husband refused, Clark continued calling--**six times between 10:49 and 11:04 p.m.--**and finally texted: "If you get that review removed, I'll give you $1,000 right now." Screenshots confirm both the quote and the repeated calls. Sadly, the harassment has continued with more calls today. And so NOW I am writing a review. We've moved many times, across states and even internationally, and have never experienced such unethical and threatening conduct from a moving company--let alone from its owner. Adding to the irony, Clark & Sons promotes itself as a Christian, family-owned business. Their trucks display Bible verses and crosses, and they advertise in the Christian Blue Pages under the phrase "Strength in Unity." Consider all your other options. My local move was highly organized and uncomplicated (mostly books packed in uniform boxes and uniform plastic bins along with some bookshelves and pieces of light furniture) from a single-family home to a first-floor storage unit with very easy access. The move took three times as long and cost three times as much as I was led to believe based on my conversations before booking with Clark and Sons. It was clear that time was being killed to make the move take longer, and the van even chose to get off the highway and take a congested local road through all the hospitals instead of staying on the highway as I had told them to do because we could get off very close to the storage unit. Turns out that two of the handful of things I told them should be handled with extra care were damaged, and I'm wondering if everything will be accounted for when I move out of the storage unit and unpack. I left a Google review and then got gruff phone messages from the owner telling me that it would be in my "best interest" to call back. The whole experience felt slimy and not good. If you don't want to be fleeced to the tune of nearly $1500 for a local move that only fills 2/3 of the truck, I really would look elsewhere. It seems pretty clear they get reviews taken down, so bear that in mind as well. Clark and Sons responded within minutes of my request for bids to move my mother's household from storage to her new home. He offered a very reasonable rate -- $129 flat rate for the truck and $129 per hour for the move. I put down a $51.51 deposit, and we were set. Until we weren't -- the sellers' liens delayed the closing so I had to postpone the move. Clark responded to this news with the grace of a disgruntled penguin. Let me tell you, Clark, this delay did NOT spark joy for me either, and Dani of Freshforce Cleaning said that "it happens all the time." (Pro-tip -- hire a skilled receptionist!) Did I mention that my mother owns some of the biggest and heaviest pieces of furniture on the planet? Louis XIV had nothing on her. The movers were not fazed. They showed up ahead of schedule, manoeuvred the 7' tall cherry, bow-front china cabinet like a ballerina, worked their tails off, and exhibited zero Clark-attitude throughout. Thank you, guys! We used Clark and Sons for our move. They were efficient moving me out of my apartment, and had another stop to move my boyfriend out, which took a few hours. When they got to our final stop, it was very inefficient and they kept telling us how much stuff we had. Overall, our move took 10 HOURS! If we had known it would take that long, we would have used another service with more movers since they only brought 2 guys for this job. I wanted to let you know that your crew did an absolute amazing job moving our new vanity and the marble top up the stairs into the bathroom. It took a couple of tries but once they took it out of the box they were able to get it up the stairs. They were both polite and conscientious of making sure it was done right and no damage to the vanity or walls. I believe they were magicians when it seemed like it wasn't going to fit and they were determined to make it happen. Clark and Sons did my move recently and I am overall satisfied with them. I have moved 7 times in the last 10 years so can say I am somewhat experienced in moving ;). First of all, and most importantly, the crew that worked on my move was excellent. The four movers were very polite, professional and so so so hard working. I am truly impressed. I would hire these four men anytime again! I would advise you to be as clear as possible with management on the scope of the move, what is covered and what is extra. Again, I am experienced with movers so thought I had this one under control... well I didn't... First of all be cautious with the initial quote they will give you. It will be super low (my initial quote was $387-600, the final cost was $2350). This is a normal tactic for movers to get your business. Most moving companies do it so know it will likely not be the real cost. Anyway, I knew that and was fine with it. Part of the increase in cost was because I actually asked for 4 movers vs. 2 (which is what they were suggesting and thank god I did four movers!) even if it was going to be more expensive. Once the hourly rate for the movers was set, I was okay with the fact it would be a lot more expensive than the original quote. Because the movers worked 9 hours it was even more expensive but again I am okay with that (especially given they worked so hard). The reason I am not 100% satisfied however is on the cost of the packing materials. I had received an offer for a flat cost of $300 for ALL PACKING materials based on the pictures I submitted for the quote. If you can't give a realistic quote based on pictures, then just don't or hold yourself responsible for the quote you gave! The owner of the Company said I ended up using for $400 of packing materials which is just not right, especially that I on top bought 20 medium boxes myself from Walmart (for $40 and they were a lot better than the ones Clark & Sons gave me... so really not sure how they get to $400). On top, I returned a little less than half of the boxes they gave me unused. So this is really just not fair business practice for them to charge me $100 extra. The owner called me at the end of the move to collect the money and was border line rude/aggressive. We ended up settling for $50 extra because I didn't want his poor employees to have to wait there any longer after such a full day. Again, overall I was satisfied and probably would use Clark and Sons again. The owner was very easy and responsive to work with the entire time except the last 10 minutes of the move. This company is fine if you have a few things to transport and don't care too much if they're damaged a little. This is not a company to use for a serious move. There is no way they could pull off a whole house move properly. The two guys (brothers-in-law) that moved my mom's small apartment were very nice and polite, but they didn't even use moving blankets or straps to protect things. They dropped a nice, wood filing cabinet because "there was a bump," and damaged it. Fortunately I was okay with the scratches and the piece still functions for use. We had them unload the truck and we moved items where we wanted them to prevent further damage. read more

We used Clark and Sons to move my parents out of their four-story home into a three-bedroom ranch. After living in their home for 36 years, it was quite difficult to downsize that much and they did take way too much stuff. The 4 gentleman that came to move them were very friendly, compassionate, and they all seem to work well together. The move took longer than we expected and they had to make two trips to move everything & they also swapped out some appliances for us, all with no complaining. We've moved close to 15 times over the years, and working with Clark and Sons was distinctly the worst moving experience we've ever had for a local move. We ended up paying more than twice what was quoted after a full day of personally joining the 3 guys in the physical labor of the move. I put in over 70 flights of stairs while one guy sat in the truck all day, and another was physically incapable of moving up/down stairs. It was his first (and last) day on the job. Ultimately what we thought would be a 4-5 hour move ended up taking over 8 hours, no thanks to the constant cigarette and bathroom breaks from the movers. Multiple large furniture items were scratched and dented (including the wood floors in our home), with no meaningful recourse given by Clark & Sons. For your own sake, plan to look elsewhere first for higher quality alternatives. read more

I recently moved from Fort Thomas, KY to Cincinnati, OH because I purchased a house. I had reached out to Clark & Sons Moving for a quote several weeks in advance and to reserve my move date. Everything went smoothly. The owner told me the price right away without having to list all of my furniture and items to be moved (I'm looking at you Two Men & A Truck!). I was quoted $80/hour with a 2 hour minimum and an $80 fee for the truck. He also gave me a 2 hour window in which the movers would arrive at my first location (2-4 pm). On moving day, the 2 gentlemen (Joey and Ray) showed up a few minutes before the start of my arrival window. They moved everything out of my 1 bedroom apartment quickly and efficiently (in about 25 minutes!). The drive time to the house took a big chunk of time (about 30 minutes). The 2 men unpacked the truck and moved all of my items into the house and into the rooms I requested quickly. They finished in about 35-40 minutes. All in all, the entire move took Clark & Sons less than 2 hours! I was extremely impressed with their efficiency and the quality in which my furniture and items remained. We contacted the owner about 1 month prior to move and got a very reasonable quote for truck with 3 movers. They contacted me just before move date as they said and confirmed the arrival time as 9-10am time range, they showed up at 9am. The three young men were very professional and courteous. They took the time to understand what we needed when they loaded and what to expect when we got to our new apartment. They followed the instructions completely. This move went so smoothly thanks to the efforts of these you men. This was as much as a low stress move that I ever had. Thanks again to the guys. We would definitely use them again. Over $700 to move two queen beds, word of advice DO NOT HIRE THEM HOURLY. Instead, get a cost estimate for exactly the furniture you will need to have moved. I spoke with the owner and he did not care that I was charged this ridiculous amount to move bedroom furniture less than 20 miles from original location to the new location. Don't make the same mistake I did, get a cost estimate FIRST or you will be overcharged. I wish I could go back in time, but I cannot but at least you can learn from my mistake. read more

A woman witnessed and told me they did that on purpose. The truck was identical to the on on your yelp page. I was so impressed with Clark and Sons Moving. They were efficient, careful, and patient. We have a very difficult driveway to navigate. They were the first truck to not drive in our neighbors yard, which we really appreciated. They were also very honest about items that would travel well and those that we should take with us. Nothing was broken or damaged although I am missing one box and will update this review if I locate it. One of the movers reached out to me concerning a couple of issues with arrival time and the logistics of this move. My advice to people like myself who have to do it alone: - Try, if at all possible, to have a helper on your end so movers are watched. - Ask for a breakdown of the charges when the move is complete and a copy of the bill (hopefully this company will begin to provide copies). Although everyone is tired after a move, it's worth the extra time to review all charges prior to payment. - Always check the truck for yourself when movers have finished to ensure that all items have been removed. - Get movers' contact info. The three gentleman who came to move were Craig, Matthan, and Justin. They were very polite and took great care of my things when moving. Stay away! They drove the big truck off my driveway and destroyed the water meter pit. Owner refused to pay damages, he said I signed the waiver that nothing was damaged. I took them to small claims court and was awarded a judgement, all repair fees paid by Clark & Sons. Don't let the waiver stop you from going to court. Don't let them scare you. Last minute moving need because another company's driver was sick. Great crew- polite and worked hard consistently. Didn't ask to take breaks. When they arrived they quickly assessed that they did not have the truck or crew necessary (we needed another 16 ft.). We went and rented another truck but they helped us fill it and empty it. The movers did a wonderful job. I was so pleased they brought 3 people & a HUGE truck. They were courteous, friendly, and considerate of where we wanted our belongings to go. I appreciate that they had a leader getting a plan set b4. Without everyone running around in circles. (Which is how my friends & I usually move). I am the type of person who hates stepping back & watching, but my body cannot handle all the bending and lifting like it used to. but directing them didn't bother them. I appreciate the help so much. Rates were standard & seemed fair. The truck was huge & didn't have any problem fitting all of my 3 bedroom 1700 square ft apartment (2nd & 3rd floor) - including one part of my sectional that had to be hoisted over the balcony, and items in the basement!! Do your research and know what you are agreeing to ahead of time. My roommate referred me to Clark & Sons as we were both moving out - myself on Thursday and him the very next day on Friday. Same size truck, same apartment, same distance to move, both during the week yet his hourly rate was 70% of mine and his truck rental fee was 50% of mine (as I came to find out after the fact). A phone call to Clark to understand the discrepancy to avoid additional charges in the future immediately turned into a loud rant about how they are a Christian company with bills to pay. I understand that rates fluctuate and I knew my rate ahead of time so that's on me, but the phone call with the owner really turned me off from wanting to do business with them in the future. Outside of that, the movers were great! John and Joey had everything moved quickly with zero damage. Those two were super friendly and I'd definitely move with those two guys again. We had a very bad experience with the owner of the company who came to move our things. I noticed a bit of an attitude right off the bat when I went out to the road to help him back in my driveway (in the rain) as I have some trees crowding the driveway. I told him to not worry about the tree branches sticking out. He replied, "I'm worried about my truck, not the trees". Before they got started his assistant said he needed to use the bathroom. I told him to use the outside entrance to the guest bathroom as I didn't want wet shoes walking over our wood flooring. He commented that he thought it was cool how I had an outside entrance to it. The owner said he too needed to use the bathroom (?!?)(Neither wearing masks). So I wanted him to use the same outside entrance but my wife had already let him use the master bath which passes through the bedroom (wet feet on the carpet but not as bad as on wood flooring). We were both standing at the entrance to the master bedroom and kitchen which is adjacent when he came out about as quickly as he went in and then went outside. My wife whispered to me that she didn't think he washed his hands because he came out so quickly. I agreed because we didn't hear the sink water run as it is VERY noticeable in the kitchen. So when she asked him if he did, he immediately became belligerent saying he did and started yelling "Oh c'mon what do you think I am?" My wife apologized trying to make peace (WWJD) but he continued to rant about it for several minutes and about me not wanting him walking through the house with wet feet (items to move were in the basement accessible from outside). He continued to yell and said he was a multi-millionaire and he should not be treated that way. We just stood there flabbergasted not saying a word as he went on and on. It was at that point we decided not to trust them with our possessions and said "nevermind". Just to confirm our hunch, I looked at the 2 bathroom sinks and the one the assistant used had lots of soap bubbles in it but the one he used (where we didn't hear the faucet) was dry. This would not have been a big deal with landscapers or people working on gutters or stuff like that but we just didn't want pee/poo hands on our stuff not to mention the potential for Sars-COV-2 asymptomatic spread we have now. His behavior and contentious attitude belied his version of the account. For these reasons, I cannot recommend this company. Also, I am suspicious of the many single review reviewers giving 5 stars but I can corroborate the belligerent behavior accounts of this person by several other reviewers. read more

I want to preface this by saying the guys who did the actual move were great! 5 stars if I were to review just them. Clark himself though is unorganized. I sent him a list of each stop I was going to be picking things up from and what we would be getting at each stop. When the guys showed up they had no idea about the extra stops. This lead them to pack the truck wrong. Had they known about the extra stops im sure they would have packed the truck in such a way that they wouldn't have needed to take time to get stuff off the truck and reconfigure it. When I called to talk to Clark about why he sent his employees to a job with no information about the job, he told me that was my fault. Told me I was just trying to get something for free. Accused me of trying to take advantage of his small business. In the end Clark too a half hour off my time. Which I could hear him tell his guys was bull shit. He also does not accept checks and tells the customer they are responsible for the 3% charge for using a card. I would suggest Clark take a little more time and effort to get his guys the information they need to get the job done right from the start and learn some best practices for running a business. The first time I hired them for a same city move in late summer of 2018. After getting quotes from several company's, they were buy far the best price. The 3 movers were friendly and respectful. They worked hard the entire time, moving my 2 bedroom apartment in 2.5 hours. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Therefore when I needed movers again in early 2020 I went back to this company. The movers had a big job the day before and moving roughly the same amount of stuff took the 2 movers 4.5 hours, and this time I actually had them just put all the boxes in the garage because it felt like it was taking so long.
