Movers came on time and called upon arrival. Not a professional company, you definitely get what you pay for. I've left a several messages with Lee (the receptionist) about the step (hard wood) of our new home being broken into 3 pieces. I was told they would cover the cost to have a repairman fix it. They said they'd call me to schedule coming out to fix the step. I waited a week as I was told they'd be busy. I never heard from them. So I called them. After leaving 6 messages and 3 weeks later, I still have not heard one thing back from ANYONE. Receptionist doesn't have authority to schedule the repairman to come out. He can't call the owner/management. He doesn't know management's schedule because they "just come in and out when they want". And their method of taking a message is sticking several post it's in managements desk... which clearly they never come into work. I am only making a formal complaint about our stairs, however my bed and dresser was also broken. Scrapes/scratches on my treadmill. I will be contacting my lawyer. read more

I will never use this company again. I was quoted 680 told to bring 680 cash with me to pay the guys for 4 men 2 trucks. When the movers got there they said it was going to be 1250 because of the stuff in the basement. When I told him all of that stuff wasn't going he said oh then it won't be that much. He told me it was going to take 3 hours to load the trucks. But they were finished in about an hour. So I had to rush to the place to let them in. I didn't get a chance to go to the atm. When they finished and told me it was 1140 I had to go get the card and go to the atm about 20 min. 10 later he called me and asked if I was in my way back. I was leaving my house called him said I was on my way back. He said he texted me the total it was 1250 so he charged me another 110 for the time to go get the card. Was quoted for two guys for $360 for three hours starting at 5:00pm. Cash-only so I got cash. 4 guys -- not two, show up (at 3:45) and they said they'd finish quicker with more guys . We have used D&R movers on 4 separate occasions over 13 years. Most recently we used them to help us clear out my father's house after he passed away. I was very emotional given what we were doing. JR, Calvin and Daniel were so kind and compassionate throughout the entire process. They would bring me items to look through even when I thought it was garbage. They worked so fast and efficiently. Never took a break and hustled the entire time. It was so hot and sweat was pouring off of them but they just kept at it. What they accomplished in 3 hours would have taken us days to accomplish. This was a terrible experience for me. Although the movers were nice, they were not professional. One driver said that he was claustrophobic and needed to take the stairs. I was moving from the 6th floor to an 11th floor apartment. There was no way that was happening. They did not take a lot of things, including forgetting the bed slats and we were left making numerous trips back to the old apartment. When I unpacked my box's, I learned that a lot of my fragile items were broken, even though I wrote fragile on the box. They did not deserve the tip that I gave them. Would give 0 stars if possible. They showed up to help my (disabled) mother move a 4 bedroom house and two storage units in a small-mid sized truck. Took multiple trips (and charged us for the time and mileage) and didn't even finish moving our belongings. House smells like smoke from movers smoking on-site. Movers were scheduled to move my daughter 7-15-22 between 1-3 pm. Around 4pm they still haven't shown up yet so my daughter called. They kept pushing back move. I understand things come up and she waited all day for them to arrive (took day off work). Finally around 8:30 PM they showed up and cancelled move becuase she was on 3rd floor. They knew this was an apartment building and they knew the contents of her move upon scheduling. They told her good night call office in am. So she did and they said they will not be out until 1pm that day...this is when i decided to get involved because i am the one paying for it. The manager was extremely RUDE told me he doesn't "CARE WHO IS PAYING FOR IT AND TOLD ME TO STOP RAMBLING ON!" He was very aggressive and nasty! He cancelled my daughters move after i questioned him why they were not making her a priority that day since they were supposed to move her the day before. I wish I could give them zero stars - but it doesn't matter, their F rating by the BBB speaks for itself. The were scheduled to come at 11am - booked 5 weeks in advance and verified 3 times. After discussing with the office staff our 3 bedroom home with basement and no appliances to move, we were recommended 3 movers and one truck, estimated $600. They showed up 4 1/2 hours late, stated that the job was "too big to start so late in the day" and left to come back the next day with more guys at my expense. In the end, they only moved about 3/4 of our stuff with 2 trucks (They carry multiple pallets of moving supplies that take up a sizeable amount of truck space), broke several pieces of furniture, placed all of our carefully labelled boxes in the wrong rooms despite on the scene instruction, and charged us over $1000 for the privilege. This level of service is beyond what I have even heard of for a moving company. read more

Worst moving company ever. One of the movers hired to complete our move across town destroyed a lamp. Company has not reimbursed us for the damage caused by their employee, and has not responded to our requests to resolve the issue. Movers were over an hour late past their scheduled window. Horrible experience. I found they had scuffed my walls in 2 different places after they left. I was going to let that go butt the next day I found they put my mirror on top of my bed even though I requested it be put in the closet. When I lifted it off I found what looked like to be poop all over my mattress cover. When I called to make a complaint the "owner" didn't understand why I would be upset about the way they handled their mess and refused any type of compensation or even an apology. My friend and I hired D&R to move last summer and they did a phenomenal job. Two guys came and loaded up the truck, delivered, and unloaded in well under the time that was quoted. Since we were under the two hour minimum, the guys moved boxes and helped pack things into to the new storage unit. They did a great job of getting the bed down a narrow stairwell, and moving bulky furniture through tight spaces. The rate was by far the most affordable in Cincinnati: $70.00 per hour (2 hour minimum) $40.00 travel fee Total: $180.00 Most other places were well over $200.00, the next cheapest I found being $235.00. We had to pay in cash, which was not mentioned upfront. We were prepared to write a check, but ended up making an impromptu trip to the bank to withdraw cash. This was an added hassle on an already hectic day. This year, I wanted to book D&R for another upcoming move, but they would not come to Northern Kentucky. I was frustrated since their headquarters is a stone's throw away from where I live. The relocation was from Newport to Downtown Cincinnati, a total of four miles. I really wanted to use D&R, but instead had to book an expensive mover who charged $235.00. If you're on the Ohio side of the river and relocating Downtown, D&R does a fabulous job. If your move involves Kentucky, look elsewhere. read more

Let me start by saying this was our second time using this company and we have moved 6+ times in the last ten years using various movers. The first time, wasn't a bad experience (although all they had to do was unpack a U-Haul that we drove down ourselves). Friday May 6th, we had a 17ft truck (we were told) scheduled through them and 3 guys to move our 2 bedroom apartment. We assumed it would take two hours tops as everything was disassembled for them and all the boxes were in centrally located and close to the door. They arrived with a small truck, MAYBE 15ft. We told them we were quoted with a later truck as we have some larger items. They took a look through our place first and told us "there's only a few large pieces, we should get this in ONE trip" .. HOURS go by, it's now 11:30 and half of our stuff wasn't even in the truck. There was zero urgency. At one point my fiancé saw them taking a smoke break beside the truck. We were then told we would need another trip. We then called the company to discuss the issues that have occurred even before the truck was at our new destination. We were offered 10% off even though we already were getting that from a military discount offered through the company. We explained at this point, the THREE men were not cutting it and my 70 year old father in law and I could get the rest as this took them 3.5 hours for our 2bedroom apartment and we STILL have more to get. As we got to our destination, our items were horribly stored and our futon was ripped on the front. We called again just make them aware we had damaged items and we still have not heard back. this was the biggest nightmare ever. they have a two hour minimum. they used less than 1 and were leaving. my lamp was in the yard, boxes were left on the porch. when I instructed them to move the things they were paid to, the guy starts jerking my things he puts my food items in the bathroom on the floor. he was requested to move the heavy exercise equipment upstairs but they placed them in the babies room. I couldn't even walk in those areas. I had to have another person move them upstairs. my dresser still have the legs off it. the three emails, five phone calls and reviews in nine days have gone unanswered by the owner. this guy just doesn't care. use at your own risk they are the absolute worst read more

On March 29, we requested D&R moving services for Friday, April 12. When we spoke with D&R Movers via phone, the date was confirmed and we were given a time range of 1:00-3:30PM. I am not recommending them for the following reasons: - The movers did not show up to move us until 5:30-at least two hours late. - In addition to being late, the truck that they showed up in was not nearly sufficient for the size of the house being moved. It would have been nice if they showed up in the nice big truck that they have on their Facebook page. But the truck they were in was only 15 to 17 feet tops. I was astounded-the house was 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, living room, dining, room, kitchen, laundry room, 2 storage rooms in basement, and 6 closets. After arriving and touring the house, the movers even knew their truck was too small and said the move would take 8 hours, so he called headquarters and requested another truck. He was told no, not because there was not another truck available, but because "the houses were only 5 minutes apart." - When the time was initially confirmed, D&R was told that we were required to be moved out by the end of the day Friday. Due to the fact that the movers showed up late and with a truck that was too small for the amount of work to be moved, we had to recruit family members and move a large portion ourselves. Even with the extra help, everyone stopped moving at 10:30 PM with work still left to be done. One of the movers told me that it was a good thing that we did help because they initially estimated that the move would take 8 hours, which would have meant that they would have been moving until 1:30 AM. - We had to make special arrangements with the buyers to come back on Saturday to finish moving, clean, and for me to fix a banister that the movers had damaged with a bedspring. Damage, I might add, that I pointed out to the head mover prior to paying and he tried to play dumb until I showed him that I had pictures. Call me lazy if you want, but the whole reason that we hired movers in the first place so that we didn't have to do it, plus my wife is 8 months pregnant. I understand the premise of a business wanting to make money, but it became very obvious when they showed up in the tiny truck and wouldn't send another to help that they were trying to milk us for as long as they could to get as much money as possible out of us. They also make you sign a form stating that there was not any damage to any of the items that they've moved before they will leave. Since we didn't get done moving with the movers until 10:30 PM, do you think that we had an opportunity to actually look at our stuff first to make sure that it wasn't damaged before having to sign the form? No. So when we begin unpacking the next day wouldn't you know it, we found plates and glass platters broken. read more

I had a storage unit filled with furniture for a 1 bedroom apartment: i had 2 movers, they moved my belongings to my new place under 1 hour & that was including the time they got to my storage unit till the time they finished moving my belongings in my new place, which my new place was 15min away from my storage. They was the cheapest i found in the cincinnati area, everywhere else were charging minimum $340 for 2 hours, but this company charged only $185 for minimum 2 hours. And they only accept cash which they tell you when you make your appointment. no hidden fees. I would definitely recommend this company to move your belongings if you want to save money & get your belongings moved really fast. read more

Wow! What an experience! An awful one!!! A tenant moved into one of my properties two weeks ago and unfortunately used this company. I had just had the unit entirely painted and they put a gash in the wall carrying a washer down the stairs and left marks along the wall and small gashes in the woodwork. The cost to repair the damage was $150. At first the owner offered $50 but then would not even pay this amount. As one reviewer said, please read the other one star reviews to see what you are dealing with. God help you if they break or damage something, which based on many reviews they often do, you will never be compensated. The guy that acted like he was in charge was like dealing with a two year old and said how silly of me to argue with him because he is only 20 years old. That is one of the best comments I have ever heard. Great thing this brave young man is not in the army. Please don't shoot at me I am only 20! Will refer to him as "Squiggy". When they brought the appliances to my place Squiggy would not unload them until I paid cash first. The reason the company makes you pay cash is that so many people would not pay or would withhold part of the funds to pay for damages caused by the movers. Squiggy said if I did not want more damage to the place when they were moving the appliances then I would need to remove the door myself although this is what I was paying the company for. Squiggy was incredibly rude, very mouthy, and at that point all I wanted was to get these guys out of my house. I am not going to rip on the other two because they were not being disrespectful. I found the owner's name on a BBB site and also under a linked in site. I am thinking about filing a small claims case so I did a search on the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts to see if other cases have been filed under his name. I suggest you do the same. Now the owner will respond that this is a fake review or review by a competitor and other BS like he does for every other negative review but I have a receipt I can post if necessary and able to do so. read more

My husband and I used D&R to move into our first home. In the condo we were moving out of (a rental), a member of the team knocked into a pendant lamp and shattered it. It was an accident, I get it, accidents happen. I called Raymond, the owner, while the movers were still there, and he asked me to take photos and assured me that he would reimburse us for the lamp at a later date. The team also caused damage in the home we were moving into, as they rushed carrying our bed frame upstairs and scraped the metal frame against the wall all the way up the stairs, gouging the wall (it's wood paneling, so we couldn't even paint over it). None of our furniture was wrapped or cared for, and I had to ask several times that they slow down. We were paying by the hour, not by the job, so I'm not sure why they were in such a rush. At the end of the move, we handed them a credit card and were informed that they were cash only, even though we had spoken to Ray when we booked the move and he said we could use a credit card. The worst of it all though, happened after the move was completed. I got the pendant lamp from the condo appraised by an art dealer (it was an antique), and they came back with a pretty high figure ($2500). After some negotiation with the owner of the condo, we settled on a more reasonable replacement figure ($600). I had several photos of the lamp before and after, a quote from a local art dealer, and a settlement letter from the owner of the condo. I first tried emailing Raymond with all of this information, and received no response. After about a week, I called. No answer. I left a message, he never called back. I started calling more often, a couple times a week, left more messages, no response. Once he finally answered the phone, he claimed to "remember me, sure" but also claimed that he never stated that he would pay for the broken lamp and that I had signed a waiver stating they wouldn't be responsible for damages (I didn't do that, obviously, and I would NEVER do that). He continued to shout at me and insult me, and eventually hung up on me altogether. I considered taking him to small claims court, but was already so worn out by the three month battle with D&R that I ended up paying the $600 to the owner of the condo out of my own pocket. NEVER. EVER. GIVE. THEM. ANY. OF. YOUR. MONEY. Raymond is a despicable excuse for a businessman and this experience was by far the worst I have ever had as a paying customer, for any service, in my life. If I could give a lower rating I would. On the morning of our moving day I called to find out what the estimated time of arrival was because they were late. I was told the move was cancelled without even a phone call to notify us. The owner of this company told me that he was not coming because someone from our address has stoked him for a couple hundred dollars a few years back. I assured him that it was a rental property and unrelated. I offered to pay cash upfront and even cover the cost of the loss he had from years prior. I was desperate to find a solution and he refused to send a truck under any circumstances and got belligerent when I said it was not fair of him to hold someone else's misbehavior on us. I honestly felt like there must have been some kind of substance abuse issue preventing them from showing up for our confirmed appointment. It was an awful experience that lead us to calling around to find a company who would help us move same day. We luckily found A+ Dons Moving and Hauling and they did a great job for us. It was a very long day and we have used A+ multiple times and always had great experiences. It has taken me a year to writ this review because so knew they had our address and I didn't want them to know where we lived. Sadly, it was that bad! If you notice, they only respond to positive reviews (probably written by friends/family or fake accounts) Even if the 5 star reviews are real people, you are taking your chances on whether or not they will even show up on any given day. There is no attempt to take responsibility for the poor reviews or improve their customer service in any way.
