Really made an improvement from the last time I remember going there - was quite full for a quiet evening. Food was not my fav to be honest but I would go again and try a different meal

Honey, sesame chicken

Haven't been here in quite a while. My honey sesame chicken was absolutely delicious, right out of the walk, piping hot, good egg roll and very soothing wonton soup. Lettuce wrap with chicken also a winner.

Day after mixed vegetables

Really bad quality. The next day that did a lot of vegetables look like a science experiment. Won't go again. Is there any good Chinese in Dallas?

Happy family (bottom) and schezchuan pork and scallops (top). Both were lunch specials
Bryan W.

It's really like 3.5 stars, but i like to round up. We walked in right when they opened at 11. We were quickly seated and asked for our drink order. After adjusting from outside, it seemed that the air conditioning wasn't on or not working. Got kind of warm during this visit. The wait staff was really great when we got there but got worse over time when more people came in. Our 30-minute lunch turned into a 50-minute lunch due to the time it took to get the bill. The food was great! The lunch specials included a crispy small choice of either an eggroll or crab wonton. Then you have a choice of soup. I can't remember all the varieties but we enjoyed the hot and sour. It was fresh and had a nice quality to it. The entrées were really delicious. The scallops and shrimp in the dishes were large and of excellent quality. Veggies were cooked well, and the sauces tasted like they were made in-house. Overall, there is room for improvement, but given that it's so close to my work, I will absolutely be back to try this place again. Maybe when the weather calms down from being so hot in this Texas summer.

Extreme food poisoning. Beware of this place. I ordered it to be delivered and regret it.

Ambiance and service were okay. Food not great. Not worth the money. Ginger salmon was overcooked.

The food came out piping hot and super fast, within 5 minutes our table was full of dishes! We were a small party so we only tried some dishes: Shu Mai, Shrimp Har Gow (eh), Chicken Feet, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Soup Dumplings, Fried Shrimp Balls, and Tofu Pudding for dessert. The stars of the show were the siu mai, the Baked BBQ Pork Buns and the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns. The siu mai was packed with fillings and it was so good, might be the best one I've ever had. The Baked buns were good but the buns might be a little too heavy. However, the steamed buns were so airy, light, and fluffy. I've never seen a bun that fluffy, it was like touching a cloud. It was still good when we reheated it at home, too! My boyfriend also loved the chicken feet, it was packed with flavor and very juicy. On the other hand, the soup dumplings were okay they didn't have any soup in them. The shrimp har gow wrapper was really thick, making it not as good. The tofu pudding was delicious. It's silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, usually served with chewy balls but they didn't have that here. It was served hot and it was my childhood so I had to get it :) It looked like a lot of food but the bill came out to be around $50+, which wasn't bad given that we had a lot of leftovers for the day. I would definitely come back here!

It felt like your standard Cantonese restaurant with mediocre food. Service: 3/5 - it was again good, but not great. Nothing to complain or rave about Ambiance: 4/5 - it was clean, huge dining space, and noise level wasn't too bad during dinner time. Overall, we had no wait and was sat at a table with a lazy Susan.

Our waiter was very welcoming and friendly and gave us some great recommendations since it was our first time dining there. We tried the following dishes: Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), Gong Bao Pork, and Stir-Fried La Mian with Vegetables. My favorite dishes were the beef dish and the soup dumplings. I would definitely order those again. It was also really nice to see the chef hand-pull the noodles right behind our table, which added to the whole experience. Overall, both the food and service were excellent. The portions were generous and perfect for sharing. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again.

This visit, we hosted family from East Texas who'd been here once before. Starting with delicious Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings and Bucks Spare Ribs, we moved on to Ants Climbing Trees (Ma Yi Shang Shu), a classic Sichuan dish of vermicelli cooked with minced pork, in fermented chili sauce, with garlic and green onions, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, crispy bite-size shrimp tossed with green onion, basil, garlic, and jalapeño, and Sichuan Green Beans, stir-fried with garlic, mushrooms, and minced pork. We opted for one order of white rice and one of fried rice with our entrées. The restaurant is almost always packed if you don't have a reservation, but the vibe is relaxed and casual without being loud. In fact, it's so popular, you may have to wait a bit even with a reservation, since they want you to enjoy your meal vs rushing you out to "turn the table."

But I stayed then later noticed there was food spatter all over the window. There were also lots of cleaning products and boxes piled up in plain site. Hallway to bathroom full of products. In the bathroom products by the bar boxes and products. Huge piles of just junk. The food. I ordered the Peking duck. It came with a duck soup. The soup wasn't hot, not even warm. The Peking duck with accoutrements wasn't any better. The veggies were limp as if they had been sitting out all morning uncovered. The pancakes were very dry and lukewarm. But they got progressively colder. Last third of the basket was ice cold. The duck, was not hot. It also wasn't freshly made. It had been sitting out. It didn't have the crispy snap skin should have. It was super greasy. And because it was cool that grease was just sitting on the skin like a second coating. I paid but ate nothing. I won't be back and don't recommend.

It's one of those places that's easy to return to because the experience is consistently solid, not just the food. The cucumber and spinach salads are almost automatic orders for us at this point. They're reliably bright and well balanced, and come out quick. We also make a point to check out the specials whenever they're available. They tend to reward repeat visits and usually give us something new to talk about on the way home. What really keeps us coming back, though, is the staff. They're consistently well trained, kind, and attentive without being overbearing. Even on busy nights, things move smoothly and calmly, which matters a lot when you're fitting dinner into a full family schedule. At this point, Hello Dumpling feels dependable in the best way.
