I should probably start this review by mentioning that my friend and I couldn't figure out how to get in the building at first. A waitress was nice enough to let us in the exit. Anyway, the food is great and the service was fantastic. Couldn't ask for a better experience. As an added bonus, while we were eating the goalie from the Hershey Bears walked in. I hear it's a pretty popular spot for the team. Go to Houlihan's. It's not too pricey, it's a fun place to be, they play great music and it's an overall great time. read more

The food was quite good! I had the almond crusted halibut and was able to get it in a small portion size - something I like since I can't usually eat a supersize meal. It was served with fresh berries and asparagus - quite a tasty combination. The restaurant was busy with a waiting line, and this may be why the service was unusually slow and the kitchen expediter was having trouble getting things out to customers in the right sequence. Our salads and soup came out, then was followed immediately by the entrees. Entrees were cool by the time we finished the soups and salads. The waiter was great and gave us free coffee to help make up for the lack of coordination. All in all, I do recommend this restaurant. The food is dependably good. Stopped by on a Wednesday evening because one of our party had eaten here before and liked it. We ordered fried shrimp, crab cakes, and chicken strips. One out of three isn't good. The shrimp was way over done and the crab cakes were less than savory, bland even. Mentioning this to the server guy elicited a response akin to "Oh well." No apology whatsoever. The one in our party who suggested this place was very surprised and disappointed and has changed her opinion for the worse and probably will not return. I am positive we won't. This sadly was my first time here, and my last. I had a side salad with balsamic dressing that was fabulous! The portion was large and the ingredients in the house salad was excellent. I ordered a margarita flatbread, and my husband ordered chicken fingers, green beans, and fries. The pizza was so-so. My husband loved his green beans and fries, but the chicken fingers were crutched by the sauces. He wouldn't even eat them. The portions were large, but we didn't even want left overs. I'm only giving them 3 stars because the French onion soup was pretty good. My hisband and I have been living in PA for a little over a year now. We have heard great things about Houlihan's. The menu looked great, awesome bar selection. We decided to come out tonight for our anniversary. I was really happy that the soup was good but unfortunately dinner even close to being good. We both ordered the sirloin medium rare with Mac and cheese. I got the pineapple rice and he got fries. My steak was pretty well done. Both steaks had absolutely no flavor at all. My rice tasted burnt and the mac and cheese was dried out like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. I only mentioned something to our server about the Mac because I didn't want to make it a thing. She was kind enough to take the Mac off the bill and offer us dessert. Service was friendly and attentive but we won't go out of our way from Mechanicsburg again to dine here :( read more

In town for business and tried it out. Had the New York strip and I think a wet leather boot would have had more flavor. The mash potatoes and green beans were average. This location never disappoints! We called ahead and were told to wait in our car until we got a text. Once we entered you could see how staff was sanitizing items. We got a table on the patio. Our waiter was great. He was placing items next to us on the edge to minimize reaching over. The sirloin salad was delicious-we all got them modified and they were perfect. Drinks were never empty, loaded baked potato was hot and delicious. My son loved the french bread pizza and chocolate lava cake. Really a great experience. read more

I like Houlihans but I used to LOVE Houlihans. Back when they first opened I enjoyed going there because it felt like a nice restaurant and not as much of a chain. As the years have gone by they feel more like a chain. The prices have gone up, the food quality has gone down, and the service is spotty. They have a pretty broad menu to satisfy any palette so its good for a group. The bar has a lot of fun drinks and they rotate local brews on tap so that's good. The dessert menu is fun but not nearly as good as it was. One of my favorite things on the menu is a 4oz filet with fries with their garlic aioli. With an appetizer and a drink its the perfect amount and its usually perfectly cooked for me. This past time I got it was no different, however the server wasn't too happy about it apparently. When I asked for it she said to me, "You know its really small" And I said, "Yes, I get it all of the time" and she goes "its really small, you sure you want it" and I said "Yes I get it all of the time" and she kind of sighed and said "If you say so" Um, what? I didn't ask how big it was. I guess I could appreciate her informing me that 4oz was small in case I didn't know but she was clearly disapproving of my choice. Then when I asked for the garlic aioli she said "its not aioli its sauce" Again, attitude. So whatever I got the food I wanted this time, the price was higher than years ago, fine, the service, meh. Now its truly a chain. We had a good time here due to the drinks and company and will return when we need a chain like place to go with a big group but I won't be rushing back anytime soon. This restaurant is always consistent with their food and their service. We have been going to this establishment for over 5 years now and will continue for the next 50. The spicy chicken avocado egg rolls are so different and delicious and their dark chocolate martini is bar none. Highly recommend their bleu buffalo chicken salad and their stuffed chicken. read more

We were seated quickly, however, it took 20-30 min for our meal order to be taken. Food arrived in 30 min. It was ok as far as food goes. I was expecting a bit more for the price. We went to Houlihan's yesterday before a Hershey Bears game. It was very difficult to walk through the aisle to get to our table, especially with my father in law that is in a wheel chair. The portions were small for the money and food was average. The beer selection was not great either. I gave one star for the shrimp tacos and the kind server. Another thing to note is how dirty the women's bathroom was! Wow! Overall, I don't think we will be back. read more

Today we went to a outdoor seating for the 1st time in 3 months. After a lovely morning at Indian Echo Caverns my daughter and I were eager to have a good meal at Houlihan's in Hershey. We've eaten there many many times and it usually is worth the wait. Of course with the pandemic in play $ still being in yellow we counted on a wait. There were 5 of us 2 adults and 3 hungry children 10, 6 and 5. The time was 12:55. The hostess told my daughter there was a 20 minute wait. My daughter was thrilled as we were for the short wait. We decided to take a walk thru Hershey and got back to the restaurant about a 1/2 hour later (we were to be notified by text - never received one) therefore I went back to hostess stand and asked the hostess where we on the list? Only to be told there were 8 tables ahead of us and it was a 20 minute wait (we now have been waiting about 40 minutes). It is now a little after 1:30 pm. I said to the hostess that my daughter was told over 1/2 an hour ago it would only be 20 minutes. A gentleman stepped up to me he did not identify himself as management however he spoke in an a authoritative tone and stated that they are sanitizing tables. I understood and said okay. I went back to my daughter told her another 20 minutes. My daughter then told me that when she first got our name in the list and gave them her phone # a text message was immediately sent to her. It stated that her wait time for the table would be 2.5 hours! She said "Hey I just received this message and it says 2.5 hours not 20 minutes. The man said in No miss that's just the system. It will be...20 minutes. At 1:55 pm (1 hour after we were promised seating) I went back up to hostess stand and asked where we were in the list. This time the man told me they are 5 tables ahead of you. I said take us off the list. This is truly bad customer service. Started to walk away. The man said Ma am can't I talk to you in private. I said Nope. My daughter was telling me they were trying their best. I disagree. They knew what they had available, they knew their pace, they knew it would take WELL OVER 20 MINUTES but they continued to string us and at least 5 other tables waiting. Shame. read more

My wife and I stopped in here in our recent visit to Hershey. We thought it was great. Their menu has lots of different options. Its mainly American fair with modern twists. They also had an experimental/specials menu to add to the variety. My wife and I figured we could have come here every night for a week without getting bored. Since we had skipped lunch, we came for an early diner, and were glad we did. As we were leaving the diner rush was beginning. Poor customer service and management. The restaurant was out of 3 items that our table of 5 ordered: Steamed pot stickers, buffalo chicken wings and Kraft Mac and Cheese from the kids menu. When I shared my disbelief with the waiter that a big chain restaurant in a tourist city during the summer could be out of "staple" menu items at 10 PM n a Monday night, he snapped at me "Well I don't order the food". At that point I said that e were going to leave since they didn't have the items we wanted. he them asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. I declined since there wasn't anything she could do to get the items we wanted. Additionally, I was just too upset with the customer service and poor management to want to stay there. Might have been a different experience if the waiter had given us warning up front that they were out of specific items rather than letting us know only after we had ordered them. read more

Got onto the patio with only a 5-10 minute wait for 2 on a Saturday! Potstickers were incredible and perfectly browned. Loved the Wine Flight! 5oz. It took us 30 mins to get her attention just to get our check. This was our fourth time there, but never have been ignored like that before. My family and I visited this location on a Friday night after spending the entire day at Hershey Park. This was around almost closing time - so close to 11pm. Upon walking in we were greeted by the friendly hostess who sat us down. We reside in Jersey City, NJ and have visited multiple Houlihan's locations. This by far was the best in all aspects - friendly staff, clean environment which includes the floors, the carpet, the tables, the silverware (no spots), the menus (they weren't icky or dirty at all). Since it was closing time after we had arrived, the staff was cleaning up. We saw them wiping booths and chairs down, cleaning the carpet, etc. These were things that we have never ever witnessed at any of the many Houlihan's we've visitors before. The few Houlihan's in the northern Jersey area DEFF need to take notes. We've been to a Houlihan's near closing time without the babies before and never have seen anyone work to keep up their store like this. The hostess, GM and our server Emily (sorry I forget the others' names) were super, duper nice and accommodating which is how they should be. Cleanliness and customer service is EVERYTHING. Much props to this Houlihan's at Hershey location. I highly recommend this place to anyone dining in the area. Keep up the great work! read more

Decided to stop in for lunch with the boyfriend today...was a slightly 'hard sell' as we don't get too excited about chain restaurants. But I ate there a couple of years ago and was always pleased. Not so much today. Promptly seated...but our server had no personality whatsoever! Hey this is the food and hospitality industry...and she was NOT personable. The BF had their calamari salad...pretty blah...nothing to make you want to order it again. I had their jumbo shrimp with FF....and the green beans were the best part of my meal....suffice to say? This place really impressed. It was super busy, but were seated within 30 minutes (which was the expected wait). Sat on the patio and it was a gorgeous night. Only ordered dinner, no apps, and too full for dessert. It took a little while to get our food, but absolutely delicious and worth the wait. Kid food was very kid friendly (Kraft mac and cheese, fries, and chicken tenders). My husband got the 9oz steak and loaded baked potato. I got the Wedge & Steak Salad. They were both extremely delicious and filling. We took steak leftovers which made my husband's night. Bill was $65 for 5 which was much less than I expected. We have been going to this Houlihans for years and couldn't wait to go back again with our party of 10 for dinner this evening. We arrived shortly after 5pm to have dinner and we're immediately told we should have called ahead. Ok...we have never done that before, but honestly we didn't know that was a new policy. We asked if we could sit in the bar area and we were told that we could find an empty seat and a waitress would help us. Phew...it was a long day and everyone was tired. We sat down and all had our drink order taken. After a long day we were ready for a nice dinner with friends. Shortly after we made our order we were told that we must leave the table and that we couldn't sit there because it was reserved. Everyone makes mistakes but we were basically thrown out of the restaurant without any alternatives or ounce of customer service. Can we sit outside? No that's not available tonight. This property has a nice outdoor area that you would think would be overused during a pandemic. We had multiple people in our party that were over 80 years old and it would have been nice to have an alternative. Maybe....Can we put your names on a list and seat you when we have an open table? NOTHING....we also spoke to the manager who apologized for a "misunderstanding" but not for the rude host or terrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and walk down the street to the many local restaurants that actually want your business. read more

I can say I'm a regular. I am in love with happy hour, and the late night hour where certain apps are $5.00. I tend to get these items in this order - and they are all absolutely great. Thai wings, spinach dip on lavosh bread, calamari and the big shrooms. Love a new dish the bay scallops over the risotto with asparagus with micro greens on top. Love the bar and the atmosphere as well, best bang for your buck are absolutely the Long island pitchers and the mini martini samplers. The long island pitchers could be a tad bit stronger, but it is al about which one you pick they have great varieties. Absolutely my go to spot in the city for a fun night out. read more

Omg what can I say?? We just moved to Hershey a week ago so we haven't explored all that much but you all set the bar really high! The food is incredible and done just how you like it. My husband and I took his boss there last week and we absolutely loved it! The food came out exactly how we ordered it. The server paid such close attention to us and made sure we were topped off on drinks and removed our plates as soon as we were done. I had the salmon, my husband had a steak, and his boss had the meatloaf. Everything was sooooo good! This is our new date night place where we won't be bringing our kids.
