I felt it looked a lot better than it tasted

Nice staff Simple interior About $20 for king pao w rice; restaurants love to add $$$$ for the rice, they know it goes with rice, so charge more, seems unfair. It is definitely hot. Felt like CRAP hour(s) later. Hard on the stomach, I like hot, this was too greasy and doesn't sit well. Did I mention 4 hrs later.. Not so good! Bad aftertaste and guts are mad at me.

Dining here on a Saturday night was a 30 mins wait on the waitlist for a group of four. There was a small waiting area so it wasn't terrible but heads up, the place is pretty noisy We ordered the "boiled clams", the "Sichuan Picked Flavoured Beef in soup", and their iced plum green tea The clams were def a hit and a very reasonable price ($8) we really enjoyed the flavour and quality of the dish The beef soup sadly was a "miss", the beef shavings were decent quality but the taste wasn't enjoyable. Too many peppercorns were left in the dish and slightly tasted off ( I'm unsure if stale or...) Tbh the spice level is manageable and not over the top, I just found the flavour to be subpar for Sichuan soup dishes The plum green tea isn't a fave either, extremely sweet and diluted (tastes like a watered down freezie )

Authentic Sichuan style restaurant in Downtown Toronto. The spicy level is more inclined to salty flavour instead of pure spicy one. In this case, it is more acceptable for most of customers. The two dishes we ordered are all pretty good. Personally I prefer the dry pot vegetables dish and all different type of vegetables melts in the dry hot pot in great harmony. Some tips: save your time if you join in the yelp waitlist before your arrival. It can at least save you 15-min waiting time.

We moved recently from China and were visiting relatives in Toronto for the holidays. We were looking for good Sichuan places and stumbled upon this restaurant. Overall this meal was quite good and we would highly recommend it as the food is fairly authentic. We had the pickle flavored beef in soup (moderately spicy), the bean noodle (great but ultra spicy), the egg fried rice (very standard), the sticky rice with brown sugar (awesome authentic dessert!), and some green beans. I'm so glad we ordered from this restaurant as the meal hit the spot and reminded us of good times while abroad.

This place has everything I want in a downtown Chinese restaurant: -Genuine & delicious Chinese food -Cool atmosphere and modern internal decor -BIG portion with not so expensive price -CLEAN and tidy If you order any of the bowl, it is sufficient for two by itself for a price of $28-30. My girlfriend and I had so much leftovers at the end that it can be another meal later.

Hotopia is one of our favourite restaurants in Toronto. We have ordered more than 30 times. This is an authentic Sichuan restaurant with huge portions. The prices might seem a little steep, but the amount of food you get is well worth it. One dish can easily stretch out to 2 or 3 meals per person. Our favourite dish is the Sichuan pepper basa fish. This is one of the few places in Toronto that has the authentic numbing flavour. 5/5 Vegetable spicy pot: 4/5 Marrying mix spice pot: 4/5 Curry fried rice: 4/5 Tip: make sure to sign up for the waiting list or call ahead early for pickup, this place is always in heavy demand.

Fantastic Sichuan food in downtown Toronto. The new hot(literally) spot for some good Sichuan Chinese food. Went for dinner with friends and ordered beef and tripe, Tilapia hotpot, chicken wings pot, bean sprouts, everything is delish and Tilapia pot the special is quite unique with Sichuan style pickled veggie. The dish has daily limits till sold out, we were lucky to have got our order in. But you do need to watch out for the fish bones because they use fresh fish instead of fillets (which is a huge plus if you want authenticity). The most popular dish on our table was the chicken wings however, the lotus root add on (some of the dishes are highly customizable) is to die for. However, it is really spicy, suicidal spicy. For folks who think they might be able to handle spicy, you definitely won't be able to. Ask the staff to really tone down the spice level to almost none, and it'll be spicy enough for like 99% of general population. Will def go back.

I have heard tons of good things about hotopia before this location even opened, and I finally got to try it with my friends. We heard the default spicy level (which is 2) for the mala pot is too spicy, but apparently my friend who told me that is a baby lol. I don't eat very spicy but this is definitely not spicy at all, I would suggest go for level 3. We ordered the marrying four pot, funny name huh, but it has beef sirloin, pork, lamb and shrimp, which basically saves u lots of decisions! We also added lotus root, beef balls, and rice cake. The rice cake was a great add on , it's crispy outside and soft inside, it absorbs the flavors and it's amazing! Even though it is not that spicy, I definitely think it is very very delicious, I would definitely come back again to try more dishes! We also ordered stir fry potato, it's warm and spicy, it's great!

Awesome! We had dinner in Chinatown & I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I am happy that we found this place on our last day. We split the Sichuan pickle flavored basa & it was outstanding! The fish tasted fresh & the soup was very flavorful. My wife loved the peach tea too.

It basically just tastes like a hotpot you can make at home without the hassle! I loved the curry fried rice - good flavour and portion for the price. Great service. FYI One hotpot thing is good for 2 people, so the price is alright for eating downtown.

Marry 4 with shrimp lamb beef and I don't remember the fourth one, added lotus root

A bit of a waiting period but the turnaround was not bad at all, we only waited like 15 mins-ish with 6 people ahead of us. Good vibe, service was only okay because it took them too long to come around and take our order. But the taste, IT IS AMAZING!!! Very authentic Chinese food downtown. Definitely recommend u to go try!

We went at lunchtime but ended up having a full dinner. The meat and seafood were fresh and plentiful. My favorites were the cowboy ribs, mustard octopus, cold noodles, and the roasted pineapple at the end, so juicy and sweet. We finished with coffee pudding and caramel pudding and the coffee pudding was surprisingly delicious. If you love BBQ, this place is a must try. I really hope they open a spot closer to Markham.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

The noodles were perfectly textured, crunchy, and bouncy. The soup was made according to HK standards - the proper way with dried shrimp flavor. It was rich and strongly flavored that way. The waitress was straightforward, and the tea is not an extra charge. Just be careful as the tea is super, super hot. The noodle shop is my cup of tea as I'm familiar with places like this. I love it. It is the Chinatown feel. Lots of older folk eating there and not in a rush. They're reading the newspaper or chatting away. So don't be too worried if it's not the cleanest place as everything else more than makes up for it. The food is legit; the environment is legit. Check, and check.

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious.
