The ambiance was very nice. Brynlee our waitress was professional yet fun and friendly. She enhanced our experience there. We started with cocktails. I had a Blackberry lemon drop, it was perfect. My partner had grey goose over, his favorite. We started with the clam chowder, we both agreed it was one of, if not the best clam chowder we ever had. We ordered the French bread it came with butter and garlic olive oil and the bread came out warm, so nice. We split a salad and the rib eye. The rib eye had a really yummy complementary sauce. Not overpowering at all. The loaded mash potatoes that came with it were so good, creamy with bacon and cheese. The next time we come back we would like to try the New York stead and the Gnocchi's.... We were too full to get dessert... yes we will be back . read more

My best friend and I stayed at this hotel and decided to grab a bite downstairs. Boy, am I glad we did! The service was great and the food was spectacular. We enjoyed appetizers of the Brussels sprouts and pretzel (pig, fig, and goat) which is basically a charcuterie on a smaller scale. It did not disappoint. For dinner I had the stuffed portobello and she had the gnocchi. Both were amazing. High recommend as an eatery whether you're staying in the hotel or not. read more

Very disappointed with the quality of the $16.00 Burnt Brussel Sprouts Appetizer we had yesterday afternoon. I hang with my friend's mom who lives in Sutter Creek two times a week and we walk downtown for lunch. After paying over $45 for two drinks and a burnt appetizer, I will NEVER go back! Yes, we should have said something at the moment but I kept receiving phone calls about my father in memory care and frankly was dealing with a lot! I also should have taken a picture but it would have been black as that's what we received, I didn't know the chef was cajon cooking...Burnt! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! read more

The staff was amazing , scott was our server , he was very attentive and happy to wait for us to order, food came out hot and fresh and delicious, our steaks were amazing and the asparagus was cooked perfect , definitely a beautiful evening there tonight with my wife. It was pretty peaceful and the place was hopping after we ordered but was still a nice quiet dinner . And the wine , oh the wine was delicious!! A++++ for these guys !! read more

Great service in atmosphere. The food is good and it's probably the nicest place to eat in Sommer Creek

This is right on main street in Sutter. The drinks were made well. Food was really good. Great place to have some drinks and some good food off the lobby/ bar area of the hotel. read more

The atmosphere is amazing. You feel like you're in an old west movie. But the food! They could do so much better with a tad bit of effort! The mahi mahi was like leather. The side of salmon on the pasta was at best 4 ounces. It was half a small slice of salmon! The pasta? I'd say the Alfredo was about on par to the Olive Garden. The best part of the meal was the appetizers -- except for the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were dry and tasted like they may have been made the day before. And for service. It was fine. Slow at times, attentive at others. All in all average service with chain restaurant quality food. read more

Not our first rodeo! This place is amazing and I love the rotating, seasonal menu. I always grab a lemon drop, preferably a flavored one. This time, I also got the mahi mahi tacos. Delicious! Best fish tacos! read more

Our trip to Sutter Creek started with dinner at Hotel Sutter. I made reservations ahead of time and so we are seated promptly. The place was not busy on a Saturday night. The food was good and price decent. For our party of four, we feasted on calamari for appetizers. Burger, lamb and pasta for dinner. Nothing bad to say about the food, it was good. Or server was friendly but not chit chatty and we were taken cared of. No complains. We didn't get to try dessert as it was not offered to us. That's probably the only thing that our server forgot. Nonetheless, we probably looked content with our dinner. I would go back again. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner on our way up the mountain towards kirkwood. I had mahi-mahi with lemon butter sauce and roasted sweet potato. Husband had chicken stuffed with prosciutto and cheese, mashed potato and grilled veggies Both of our entrées were absolutely delicious. Everything was piping hot - meat perfectly cooked , vegetables al dente, sauce tangy, potatoes creamy. Service was fast and professional. We were seated quickly. Definitely deserves five stars.!! Ambiance is adorable , traditional hotel, feeling with brick walls, painted wood floor floors, traditional furniture, styles and a beautiful bar read more

Despite being very busy we got excellent service. The food was great and so was ambience.

Once again Hotel Sutter did not disappoint. There were seven of us for lunch. Four had Prime Rib Dips and they were all very pleased, tender meat, fresh bread and great flavor. I had a Bacon Jam Burger and I must say it was the best burger I've had in a long time. The service was very good and the hour and a half that we spent there was very enjoyable. The Bloody Mary's, mimosas and beer were excellent as well. read more

The service was great and the food was so good. The New York Steak was so good and the chimichurri sauce that went along with it paired great. I normally don't like asparagus but whoever made it knew what they were doing because it tasted great. read more

Coconut Shrimp .... upstairs balcony seating .... Sunshine and people watching. I was a happy camper here! Mother/Daughter weekend started with a late lunch/snack sesh with my kiddo. Apparently they just reopened the balcony and weren't quite up to speed with service up there but we made it work. The view of downtown is perfect and we really enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp and our Brussels. However the drinks were just okay. We ordered at the bar which is small and very crowded. Everyone seemed happy but the bartenders seemed a little "over it". Pretty sure neither of them smiled once. Overall this was a fun place and really popular because the downstairs dinning room was packed! They also have a side room for events which was SUPER cute. I could see this being a great venue for a rehearsal dinner or big celebratory birthday location. I'd come back again to sit upstairs and just enjoy the view with a few orders of those shrimp! read more

Went here for dinner after a day out wine tasting. Both of us had the NY Strip with mashed potatoes and veggies. The steaks were cooked perfectly as we ordered (rare and med rare) Waiter was funny and great customer service. The rest of the service was hit and miss with the manager standing around a lot instead of helping her customers. Ambiance was nice sitting the living/front room of the old hotel. Some restaurants have a large wine list from all over California, I appreciate that everything we saw was local. Local beer would have been good if not there for dinner but I saw a lot of standard domestic and bottled imports. read more

The absolute worst experience. Rude staff and terrible customer service. Also, you can't have fun at the bar...it's not allowed. You will be asked to leave. Don't go! read more

The restaurant at Hotel Sutter is a hidden gem in Sutter Creek. The food is consistently excellent--standout dishes like the poke stack and crab Louie salad are fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere is relaxed but refined, with a great bar and a balcony overlooking Main Street. Service is friendly and attentive. A must-visit spot whether you're staying at the hotel or just in town for the day. read more

Love the atmosphere! Brandon always goes the extra mile. Great food, and I'm always given amazing service!

We have now eaten here three times and this was the last time. The service is absolutely horrible. It's slow, once you are seated. The staff doesn't visit the table even once while you are here to refill water, ask if you need anything etc. This time the order was wrong and the correct food never came. I recommend the bar as they are timely. The restaurant is a no go for sure. read more

We enjoyed a nice Friday night dinner here. Glad we made a reservation since the dining room was full most of the time. The prime rib was well priced and our waiter, Andrew, was as attentive and helpful as you could want. With a full dining room and a live guitarist in the area between the bar and dining area it was very noisy. If this might bother you, request a table toward the back of the room when you make your reservation. read more

Food was good. The chimichurri tots were delicious but a bit greasy. Ambiance is really up beat and fun w/ doors that open to the street.

My husband and I enjoyed our meal here! We had made a reservation and had a great table by the front windows. There are no screens on the windows, so we were swatting bugs the whole time. However, the drinks and food was great. Fun atmosphere with a lot of energy. Our appetizer came out after our meal, however, the server comped it from our bill. Plus the fried polenta bites were delicious, so they were worth the wait! Reasonably priced, too! read more

My mom and I came here for lunch. It's a great vibe. People were here on a Monday, for lunch, laughing enjoying themselves! The cocktails are great. My mom got the spicy pomegranate mule, which was my favorite. I got the pomegranate Paloma, also great for those that don't like spicy. We started off with the coconut prawns, so good!! I ordered the caprese sandwich which was good but the rosemary tots were AMAZING! Mom ordered the prime sandwich which was next level good. You hardly needed the au jus because it was so melt in your mouth good. The service was fantastic. Our server was very attentive. The server coming in after him was extremely attentive as well. I wish we remembered their names because truly great service! read more

I'm very late on writing this review, since it was before the pandemic started and other stressful things came up causing me to stop reviewing for several months. But my experience was still close in my mind. It was during the City of Sutter Creek Christmas parade. The family wanted to see this, so we made the excursion from Sacramento. We arrived somewhat early and hungry, but since many places were closed or already filled with patrons, we had a hard time finding a restaurant to eat at. But as luck would have it, The Sutter Creek Restaurant was able to accommodate our large party. We got a nice, comfy table and our nice waiter Carl was amazing at taking care of all our menu/dietary needs including a restless toddler. There were a lot of delicious items on the menu. So we ordered a variety of foods to share. I ordered a Crab Louie with a Sutter Spiked Apple Pie cocktail to wash it down with. We had a Big Pretzel, Sutter Brussels, Brisket Sandwich, California Burger, and a dinner special. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We all loved the food and service, and left the restaurant happy and satisfied! This was our last time being together to enjoy a nice restaurant. Our hope is that once life gets back to "normal", we can all return to do this again! read more

My wife and I went in today for lunch the place was not busy but the service was terrible. For the first time that I can remember a waiter never asked us if we needed anything else or asked how we were doing. We were given our food and never saw the waiter again. The fries tasted as if they were refried and very greasy. Customer service sucks just like their fries. read more
