Hotel Pollux was great! The family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pollux in Zermatt. Taking the train into town was such a dream. We arrived and found the hotel's shuttle parked outside the station. It took a whole 30 seconds from the station to the hotel. The hotel itself is cute, quaint, and full of amenities. Complimentary breakfast, spa (sauna and steam rooms), bar and restaurants all within the property. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful (especially with securing last minute dinner reservations the week of NYE for a party of 11). Our room was nice. Nothing really special about it but the beds were very comfortable. We loved the location of the hotel. Very close to the train station, restaurants, bars, grocery, shopping. It's a small town so there are options everywhere, however, it's worth noting how close we were to the train station. With 2 toddlers, walking can sometimes be such a chore. With ski gear, even more so! Highly recommend this hotel. Looking forward to coming back.

Stayed here two nights during our Collette tour of Alpine lakes and scenic trains. Hotel located in the heart of Zermatt, 200 yards from the train station. Ski town, with the Matterhorn in the background. Only way in is by railroad. No privately owned vehicles allowed on the streets. All public buses and taxis are electric. Modern hotel with a restaurant on the bottom floor, registration and lobby on second floor, and guest rooms on floors 3,4,5,6. Our room was 9' x 14' with a full bathroom, including a bath tub. Two twin beds joined together, with a refrigerator full of drinks. Didn't mess with them as wasn't sure if they were complimentary. Free wifi, and never turned on the television mounted on the wall, as most programs in German. Room had a sliding door and balcony, with chairs and table, overlooking the main drag, with the Matterhorn visible from the back of the hotel. Great for people watching, and not too noisy at night, as most shops, except restaurants, closed at 7pm. Unique feature of this hotel is the room keys hanging with a heavy cone shaped metal weight on a display next to the hotel registration. Only hotel without electronic hotel room key cards on our tour. And could not very well carry the room key in my front pocket, without looking like I was well endowed down below!

Zürich style veal. The best! Will not disappoint!

Amazing fondu, I had the veal Wiener schnitzel and it was outstanding. We topped it off with a chocolate fondu, perfection

Warm wood tones intermixed with natural stone, LED lit frosted glass edge hallways, glass elevators and stairs accented with glass, comfortable common spaces with charming fireplaces, and thanks to being perched atop a rocky outcrop, amazing views overlooking the town stretching up to the Matterhorn. Service begins at the time of booking. Confirmation emails asking of special request, restaurant reservations at its Michelin one star eatery, and scheduling transportation to the property (Zermatt is a car free zone - only electric taxis are allowed). On arrival, the hotel's private taxi retrieves you. All luggage is handled leaving you to check in and enjoy a welcome drink. In the room, bottled water, welcome fruit and sweets plus a decanter of bourbon await. (You're here to relax right? What's a few drinks). The rooms themselves are large, very well designed incorporating the natural beauty outside while inside, filled with warm wood surfaces and lighting. Excellent finishes and impeccably clean. --Linens and robes - extremely plush. --Shampoo, body wash, lotions - Aesop. --Bed and bedding - extremely comfortable pillows but very firm mattresses. --Power - Easily accessible throughout the room. Other amenities include: -- Michelin one star restaurant (The Restaurant at the Omnia) on the property. -- Turn down service with Swiss chocolates -- High speed WiFi -- Buffet breakfast (included) -- Transport to and from the station. Outstanding service throughout. Very fluent English spoken. Rates will vary by the season but are very reasonable all things considered (A stay at a Four Seasons in the States will cost you double for less service and charm). Tip: Book direct for the best availability and rates (in CHF) provided your credit card has no international transaction fee else opt for an online booking site. Highly recommended.

They smoke freely here which is a no for me. Dinner notes below. Service is unfortunately slow. They seem to be understaffed. It took several requests to get water and pita refills. Setting is dark and eclectic. Wine selection is solid. Mezze to start, with pita chips, hummus and eggplant as standouts. Kofte was interesting but the tabbouleh had a disconcerting consistency. The Korean fried chicken was too salty and sweet. The eggplant curry was a hit and happened to be a massive portion. Fries were pedestrian.

They've always got fun music playing and there's even a little play area for kiddos. Writing this review for the spa though. I was gifted a massage/spa experience for my birthday and WOW! There was so much to do, I could've stayed all day. We started in the quiet room yurts and had some tea and a bit of trail mix. Then, headed to the outdoor onsen that overlooks the Matterhorn before heading to our massages. Mike was awesome and is a trained osteopath. He helped to work out all the kinks from a week of skiing. 10/10 recommend!
