Hotel Pollux in Zermatt was absolutely phenomenal. The location couldn't be better--right in the heart of the town, making it easy to explore everything Zermatt has to offer. The check-in process was smooth and very easy, which set the tone for a great stay. The room was truly unforgettable. I had a balcony overlooking the main shopping street, and the views were incredible. One of the most unique features was the ceiling windows--at night, we could see the stars right above us, and in the morning, we woke up to light snowfall and a clear, breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. It was an unbelievably spectacular experience. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar on the first floor, both of which were excellent and added even more convenience and enjoyment to the stay. I absolutely loved this hotel and would choose it again without hesitation. It would definitely be my first choice whenever I return to Zermatt. read more

Hotel Pollux was great! The family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pollux in Zermatt. Taking the train into town was such a dream. We arrived and found the hotel's shuttle parked outside the station. It took a whole 30 seconds from the station to the hotel. The hotel itself is cute, quaint, and full of amenities. Complimentary breakfast, spa (sauna and steam rooms), bar and restaurants all within the property. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful (especially with securing last minute dinner reservations the week of NYE for a party of 11). Our room was nice. Nothing really special about it but the beds were very comfortable. We loved the location of the hotel. Very close to the train station, restaurants, bars, grocery, shopping. It's a small town so there are options everywhere, however, it's worth noting how close we were to the train station. With 2 toddlers, walking can sometimes be such a chore. With ski gear, even more so! Highly recommend this hotel. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Stayed here two nights during our Collette tour of Alpine lakes and scenic trains. Hotel located in the heart of Zermatt, 200 yards from the train station. Ski town, with the Matterhorn in the background. Only way in is by railroad. No privately owned vehicles allowed on the streets. All public buses and taxis are electric. Modern hotel with a restaurant on the bottom floor, registration and lobby on second floor, and guest rooms on floors 3,4,5,6. Our room was 9' x 14' with a full bathroom, including a bath tub. Two twin beds joined together, with a refrigerator full of drinks. Didn't mess with them as wasn't sure if they were complimentary. Free wifi, and never turned on the television mounted on the wall, as most programs in German. Room had a sliding door and balcony, with chairs and table, overlooking the main drag, with the Matterhorn visible from the back of the hotel. Great for people watching, and not too noisy at night, as most shops, except restaurants, closed at 7pm. Unique feature of this hotel is the room keys hanging with a heavy cone shaped metal weight on a display next to the hotel registration. Only hotel without electronic hotel room key cards on our tour. And could not very well carry the room key in my front pocket, without looking like I was well endowed down below! read more

Our waitress took our order and an hour later we still didn't have our food. Several people came by to 'check' on us, and we told each person the situation - no one seemed to care, or they would say 'Oh I actually can't help with that' and they would just walk off. Finally our main waitress had the kitchen check on it and let the manager know. We saw the manager go to the kitchen, and finally our food came out. The waitress said the manager would come over to talk to us but we never saw him again (for probably 30-40 minutes). My guess is he was hiding out so as not to face us. He was very visible in the restaurant before that. We received no apology, no food comped, etc. And the food turned out to be just ok - some of the worst we experienced while in Switzerland (which generally has amazing food!) read more

Highlight of our Switzerland trip! When we arrived by train we made our way to the hotel which was a 5 min walk...as soon as we walked into the lobby it felt like we were " home". There was a wood fire blazing away in the bar/lounge area which has a super cozy feel and reminded me of an Irish pub. Special Thank You to Jonathan who assisted us with all our questions and reservations! Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotel is centrally located to everything as Zermatt is a walking village with no cars which is truly Awesome! We ended every day in the bar with a cocktail by the fire and the female bartender ( I forget her name ) that grew up in Zermatt was so personable and really made us feel special! We were always the last two in the bar and she never once rushed us but on the contrary engaged us in great conversation! read more

Cute hotel with good location. However, the restaurant was not good. Food was okay and service was a bit slow but worst, when they brought the bill, which usually includes a "Service Fee", the waitress asked me to include a "Tip"? I thought this odd since everywhere we travel in Europe includes the "Tip" on the bill as a "Service Fee". I mentioned this to the waitress but, she said that is not the case a Pollux restaurant. I tried to get a printed and itemized copy of the bill to review but, she said they only provide email copies? I wasn't going to sit and argue with her so I added an additional 10% and when I finally got the emailed copy of the bill it was not itemized so I'm not sure if I ended up tipping to much for okay food and slow service or not? My advise, check with the waitress before ordering food and drinks. read more

Hotel room was nicely done- extremely small shower and bathroom however. Also street view was incredibly noisy well past 3am- not a relaxing getaway like we expected. The plus was the ease to the train station however for us we will stay closer to the other end of town toward the Matterhorn for the beauty and tranquility... now we know. read more

This is for both the restaurant and hotel. We stayed here while on a Globus tour. For the hotel, clean and comfortable. Great internet connection and quite a few of English speaking channels on TV. Service is outstanding. Had two breakfasts and one dinner here. Again, I can't remember service any better, any where. Food was delicious and generous. Great tasting salad, soup and willing to bring extra bread. We had roast pork, string beans and mash potatoes. Pork was tender and well prepared. read more

This has the best Zürich style veal that I've ever had. Bar none! I'd go back for this dish anytime and ask for a double helping. The veal was just amazing as was the rösti. This review is for the restaurant. This was our first meal in Zermatt and we were very happy with our meal. We had the tartare to start. Tartare was delicious - had little pops of jalapeño or some spicy peppers in it which gave it a really good flavor. My friend and I shared the full portion of mussels with tomato sauce. So yummy and the portion was so huge we couldn't finish it all. My husband ordered the Swiss type macaroni and my other friend order the cheesy spatzi. Both of their meals were wonderful. We sat at the top floor of the restaurant which had a very cozy and warm feeling. Would highly recommend this place for dinner. read more

I highly recommend this hotel for those who plan to visit Zermatt, Switzerland! The location is extremely convenient - close to the train station, in the center of the village surrounded by shops and restaurants. A family owned business with great attention to customer service - foreigners and locals! I love that the locals love to hang out at the hotel bars and restaurants! Average food and service. Chess on my Alpine style penne was over grilled and dry, but spaghetti bologness was delicious according to my girlfriend. The waitress was inpatient, told us 'the kitchen was closing' and pressing us to decide after sitting down only 2 mins. I appreciate the fact that kitchen needs time to clean and have a afternoon brea, but could have told us before she seated us and at the end of the day this is not a fast food franchise where people already know what to order before walk into store. read more

Unfortunately I actually never ate here. The only reason being was that the waiter was not interested in seating us. We asked if we could sit outside, he said no that the table was reserved. He was very abrupt. He then turned around and walked off without another word. My husband said "I think he is just checking for a table inside". I thought no, he has just walked away and thus ended the conversation. Sure enough we could see him chatting behind the bar then he went out the back. So I am giving one star based on the quality of service alone. One bad staff member can make a big difference. read more
