Horrible Experience - Morning Staff Issues This hotel is my brother-in-law's preferred choice whenever he needs to stay in Tijuana for business or travel. When we arrived, the staff were excellent--very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in three rooms that night because there were seven of us traveling together. Unfortunately, the morning staff were the complete opposite. The person at the valet desk was extremely rude and seemed annoyed that I needed access to my vehicle, which I had planned to store at the hotel for a week. He questioned me about which room I was staying in and who I had spoken with regarding the shuttle to take our family to the airport. I assumed it was a misunderstanding, since my brother-in-law had made the arrangements, so I told him he would be down shortly. When we walked back into the hotel, my sister-in-law was being questioned by the receptionist in a similar manner, as if we had done something wrong. When my brother-in-law came downstairs, neither the valet attendant nor the receptionist said a word to him. The shuttle driver was already waiting outside, so I assumed they had called his room and resolved the matter--but that was not the case. We later returned to Tijuana. The shuttle driver, Sergio, was waiting for us at the airport. He was an excellent driver--friendly and helpful--and pointed out several landmarks and new buildings during the drive to the hotel. Our plan was to stay one more night and then drive to northern California the following day. Upon arriving at the hotel, I felt the staff inside were waiting for us. When I asked to retrieve a few items from my car and pay the parking bill for the week, I was told they could not find my keys. I still had the ticket I had been given, but they did not know where the keys were. The gentleman at the reception desk asked who had made the arrangements. When I told him it was my brother-in-law, he instructed me to call my brother-in-law and ask him where the keys were. I called and explained the situation; my brother-in-law said he would take care of it. Shortly afterward the keys were located, and I paid the parking bill. The male receptionist then told me, in a threatening manner, that next time I should call the hotel to make my own arrangements. I informed him there would not be a next time after the way I had been treated both that day and the previous Saturday. He almost looked stunned when he realized he had lost a future customer. My brother-in-law is scheduled to arrive on Monday--hopefully they do not lose his car keys as well. Summary of Ratings My review is based primarily on the morning staff and the way they operate. The night staff were excellent and deserve 5 stars. Both shuttle drivers were also outstanding and deserve 5 stars. Overall, the hotel itself appears to be a solid 4-star property based on the condition of the building. Management simply needs to address the issues with the morning staff, or they will continue to lose customers. read more

If you ever need to travel with your pets this is a wonderful place to stay, all staff is very kind and friendly, from the first call the receptionist gave me all information and guidance to make my trip easier. My flight was at midnight and we needed to arrived early to Tijuana, as soon as we get there we took our bedroom. We paid for each of our pets but that's the least when you're looking for a good service in a city that you're not familiar with, service room dinner was very pleasant, inside the hotel everything looks very nice, clean, fresh and calm, I wished we could stay to enjoy a couple of days, but also the cherry of the pie was the transportation to the airport, no hustle having to go outside and looking for a cab on the street. If I ever have to go back to Tijuana this would be our favorite place to stay. Thank You so much for all the accommodations and hospitality. :)) read more

Our flight was canceled till the next day and we were sent to this hotel. It was a horrible experience, check in took a min. And when we went down to the restaurant we waited 1 1/2 hrs to get our food. It wasn't packed and pretty empty so I don't understand why it took so long and we were limited to what we could order. Many people here waited so long to be attended. Food wasn't tasty except for the kids pizza. Beans and rice were cold. I would avoid this place it's not worth it and the service is horrible. I've been reading the responses from the owner and it's the same thing. We are working on it and will get the matter fixed for a better experience l, but it's hard to accept after so much time and little change! read more

This hotel is a joke. Upon arriving we were informed that there was no air conditioning nor heating in the whole building. We had been traveling all day, we were tired, and the weather was nice enough to where we figured we would be fine if we opened a window. We had reserved two rooms and upon arriving neither had electricity. The entrance door to one of the rooms would not close at all due an expanded door frame. I went downstairs to inform the front desk of the issues. I was told maintenance would be up shortly. While walking down the hallway several other people were complaining that their rooms were also having issues . Maintenance didn't show up, so we decided to book another hotel. We informed the front desk we wanted a refund. There was a thin man with black hair in a pointy tail wearing black gauges who was extremely rude. He rolled his eyes, scoffed, said we had to wait for someone else to help us. A very nice lady came up to help and when we informed her we wanted a refund she asked if she could give us another room instead. We declined as we had already made reservations elsewhere. The man then began making comments under his breath stating we couldn't leave until he checked and made sure we hadn't damaged nor used the rooms. 8 years ago this was a nice hotel but as of today I would stay clear from this place. Very clean hotel, with spacious comfortable beds, nice large tub, and I got super service for my mom in a wheelchair. Staff went out of their way to help me get her around. We loved eating poolside and the food was wonderful. I would even go to their modern restaurant if I was in TJ and staying for the day. They also have a bar with a live band on the Saturday I stayed. Wonderful for families and all the staff was professional and friendly. Large property with free parking and a value for the price. I would recommend this for a Tijuana stay! read more

Please save your time and money stay somewhere else, there is a lot of noise from the street ambulances, cars racing and general traffic. Stayed for one night and not again will stay here even if they offered it for free. Sleepless night, 3:00 am screaming people in hallway, a couple of people decided to have a full blown conversation at that time outside in the halfway. They where drinking constantly and just discussing nonsense. There's constant noise there appearances are not everything it looks nice but reality is another. read more

This is a nice place to stay while in Tijuana. It's not far from the border, but they provide free parking so that you can cab to the rest of your destinations if you don't want to take on the city's crazy drivers. A big perk for people coming in from another country is that they offer free wifi to their guests. Our room got it without any problems, but I know that other people in our party were having trouble accessing it since they were further down the hall than we were. It is available though if you need it - you just might need to hang in the lobby to pull up directions or research spots you're going to visit. The rooms are spacious and clean and the higher up you are, the better the views of the city. The beds were standard and not uncomfortable and each room had a flat screen TV with channels in both English and Spanish - another perk of being so close to San Diego so you get some of their stations. Plenty of plugs as well so you can charge your devices. They offer a variety of basic toiletries for all guests as well as complimentary water bottles. They don't recommend you drink the tap water. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but it does it's job. It looks like the floor of the tubs have all been painted, but I was told it was to provide texture to prevent slipping as all rooms had that. Makes sense... But they also provide sticky mats for additional safety. We didn't utilize it, but the hotel has a breakfast buffet as well as a pool area to hang out. On the weekend, it looked to be a hot spot for events and family gatherings. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this place to anyone thinking of crossing the border for a night or weekend. read more

This was my 2nd time year. First time was 16 years ago, pre surgery. I don't remember much about this place then as I came in really sick and went straight up to my room and my husband took care of me. This time I was back again for surgery and my doctor uses this hotel for post op recovery for one night before we go home. This place seemed updated since last time I was here. Very modern and clean. My mother and I checked in to our room. Very nice room on 2nd floor. The restaurant downstairs was nice. I was on clear liquids diet and they had broth, jello and juice for me..they are ready since the doctor sends his patients here. The only few complaints was that the hallways were noisy with people late at night...my mom had said she heard a fight break out. I was out on pain pills and didn't hear it. Surprised given the hotel was really nice. The other was the hair dry didn't work..it sparked to life and was dangerous..they need to check those! But otherwise very nice place and would stay again! read more

Nice hotel, updated-classy lobby, very nice looking restaurant off the lobby overlooking the small but nice updated pool. Stayed here one night, didn't get to get to know the place much but I liked what I saw. Our room was in the 2nd floor and it was outdated however we had no complaints everything worked just fine. Could it use remodeling? Absolutely! However this hotel was very affordable and we had a good nights sleep. Felt very safe it's located off the Zona Rio which was the area I was headed to the next day. Now on to the service. I checked in very early in the morning like 3am. The first person I encountered was the guy from ballet parking. I didn't know that at the time however he was there when I got off my truck I greeted him in Spanish and didn't get a response! RUDE! I make my way to the Lobby he's walking behind me, never asked me if I needed help or directed me to where I should go. The front desk gal was less than courteous she was not nice but she wasn't rude either she just stuck to her computer. After she checked me in she said this is ballet attendant he can help with your luggage; and then there's the guy that didn't even acknowledge me when I greeted him a few minutes earlier. He did take our stuff to our room and I tipped him and he went on his way. The next day service was totally different with the day shift personnel. This hotel was affordable in comparison to same type of hotels I've stayed before. Will definitely be back and stay a little longer to eat at the restaurant downstairs which caught my eye. The kids wanted to jump in the pool but we had no time. Will definitely be back so we can enjoy the amenities. Area is safe and there's security 24/7 there's also taxis available parked there to only service hotel guests. This hotel is located near restaurants, shopping, dentists, doctors, food, bars great location!! It's also about 10-15 minute drive from the border. read more

I would love to give this place another star. It could be a five easily with a little more customer service. The photos posted on the site definitely represent the building. The cleanliness is on point. It feels safe and secure. There is no parking on site. Upon arrival your car is driven to be parked. Our car was returned to us in tact and no issues. All our belongings were still in the car. The valet attendants are very polite and courteous. The attendant that took our belongings to our room was very chatty and told us that we should attend their bar for live music. We returned to the bar for that. There was no live music or any music for that matter. We ordered a delivery pizza. We thought we could eat it there in the bar. We were wrong. No big deal we took our drinks and pizza to the outside patio pool area. A security guard told us we were not allowed to eat our outside food there either. We went to our room and by then ate our cold pizza. Finished our one drink. We could have spent hours at the bar spending money but to be asked to leave with our food we didnt feel like going back. Through the bathroom wall we heard water flow all night long. Other than this we had a great stay. :) read more

I came with my family to visit TJ from California. And this hotel is pretty nice very upscale than most hotels. Price was a bit more expensive than other hotels. Price range $100/night. Which isn't that bad. It's very safe. That's what was most important for us. They do valet and have 24 hour taxis in front also. I noticed police trucks were park at the valet turnaround every night. They have bar lounge where they do karaoke which is pretty nice. Drinks are usually around $10usd. And they also have a buffet. We didn't try the buffet we went out for food. read more

This was the sixth or so time that I've stayed at this hotel. While the facilities are generally nice and somewhat upscale, there's still some room for improvement. My room had recently been refreshed with laminate flooring, a nice touch. The bathroom was tired with floor tile stained from rust drippings and a sink that had seen better days. The beds were bargain basement quality. The toilet was newer with a dual flush system based on what you deposited in it. The TV was a newer flat screen with ample choices for viewing, fortunately with several options in English. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent with wonderful staff, beautiful buffets, and delicious food of Mexican, American, and other international cuisines. Considering how internet-centric our society is, the hotel fails miserably in this area. With four different SSIDs to choose from, it really doesn't matter which one you go with because availability to the outside world is sporadic AT BEST!  The only place that the internet was consistently available was in the lobby. So if you're looking to get much done, plan on spending the bulk of your time there because access in your room and other places in the hotel is frustratingly slow...when it works at all. There are signs asking you to excuse the mess as "we're trying to make the Palacio 'great again'". May I suggest you start with your Internet service or stop advertising Wi-Fi as an amenity. read more

stayed here twice with my hubby and family. It's been perfect for my TJ trips. The place is clean. Shower heads need an upgrade but the price is worth it. Quiet and safe. The location is perfect. Underground parking and free. Sunday brunch are the best. The food is delicious. A block away is a 24/7 open Restaurant and in front a street roll of taco stands. I loved this hotel! The staff was nice, the valet was amazing, and the room was wonderful. The pool was out of service and the restaurant had terrible food, but the bar was great. The hot water took some time to flow, but that was the only flaw in the room. The room's do not come with coffee machines or mini refrigerators, but is nicely designed, with a flat screen TV, A/C and heater, and comfortable bed. Much of the staff speaks Spanish, so if you don't speak it, then you may have some difficulty. Note: You are in Mexico, under the conditions of their culture. Speed and rapid service are nonexistent, but this is a cultural aspect, not the hotel's. read more

Although I would not say the the physical hotel is 5 star, I think about the food, the service, the location and the price...I think, great place to stay in Tijuana. I recommend it for sure. Horrible. We checked in on the hottest day of the year. Raging heat up to 95 in Tijuana. We checked in and said the air conditioning would come back after 4 hours. We took advantage and left to go walk around. We come back 7 hours later, and guess what? The air conditioning was not working and would not work. The floors and rooms were ovens. Another man was complaining as well. But they didnt fix it all night and they didnt offer anything else. Never staying here. Also, the parking is valet, so they go park your car in a tiny lot with lots of others cars on the sides and front. They take 30 min to get your car out. Also, the drinks at tje bar are double the price, they even charge for the ice on a raging heat day, like seriously? Horrible, dont even stay here! read more

Nice lobby, bar and restaurant. The rooms are a disappointment. They are run down. The windows in our room didn't close completely and the sound of the traffic below was loud. The bathtub/ shower combo was not inviting and there was a slight sewer smell after using it. Rough towels. The people at the bar were very attentive, the breakfast buffet is good. My sister wanted some coffee sometime after breakfast, and we walked into the restaurant to purchase some. A woman in the restaurant there rudely inquired whether she was a guest there, then told her to wait in the lobby and she would have it sent there, she never got it. All other employees were very nice. Especially in the bar, where they also serve great appetizers. The room cleaning starts late in the morning and it takes quite a while. This could be a nice place if they updated the rooms and made them more secure. read more

Receptionist sucks! I waited in line and she served three guys that was behind me. I told her I wanted to check in and she ignored me like I was a dumb ass. (Twice!) 20 minutes later a different receptionist helped me out saying that it will take 3 minutes to see if my room was ready and told me to have a seat and they would get me. I waited another 30 minutes till I got back up and ask the same girl that ignored me if my room was ready and she ignored me again! Worst customer service ever! Have respect for your paying customer and speak up instead of looking the other way and not saying a damn thing. A different receptionist finally helped get my room. I waited a total of 1 hour. Check in was at 3pm and I got there at 2:59pm got my room at 3:59pm! I would never come back to this place ever again! Room sucks too. Shower towels are old and nasty. read more

This was a great hotel. It was close and convenient to most of the eateries we wanted to try. It was clean and spacious and all the hotel staff were very courteous to us the whole time. Everybody was genuinely welcoming and nice there. It was clean and we had all the amenities. Free wifi was a huge plus! Taco Alley was a street away; what a view! It was a cheap price per night. There was a pool we never used but the thought was nice. Definitely a good stay if you're planning to visit TJ any time soon. read more

Eh, unfortunately this place did not hold up its standards by our friends who booked two rooms for us and them. They have been going here for over 20 years. (Note: They changed management 4 months ago.) Booked two rooms together, We were placed completely across the floor from each other, literally 40 rooms down they way!! our family of 4 was given a hard time because they said they only booked one bed. A family of 4 is not going to be one one bed, and the hotel wanted to up charge them? A mix up none the less... however they were not accommodating and were difficult, lots of things were wrong, elevators not working, hair dryer broken, tv not in color, wifi took forever to get the password. It's a somewhat nice place, but for the service- we can go elsewhere. There are nicer places around for better deals. Apparently it wasn't like this before and unfortunately it's the management we not happy with. No thanks, not super happy with the stay, ending this long relationship due to the staff. read more

I made a reservation online two days before we arrived. Once we got there we were told our reservation was not vaild and they had no rooms available. Even when we showed them our reservation, printed from their own website confirmation page, they offered no aplogy, just that they would not honor our reservation. The people did not care at all, it was unbelieveable. Ended up driving back to Los Angeles. Dont go here if you want to actually have a room waiting for you. read more

The room was kind of small but it was clean and comfortable. What I liked most about the hotel was the bar and restaurant. Javier the bartender at Agave downstairs took care of us the moment we walked in, while we were waiting for check in. Btw, you can only check in at 3pm. After sufficiently getting buzzed, we were able to reserve a table for the May/Pac fight. We had a great dinner at the bar and we met Chef Susana. Ribeye and skirt steak were excellent. For the price, this place is unbeatable. I wouldn't recommend this as a starting point for your tours of Tijuana--we were here to see a dentist. This hotel is the worst for the price. You could totally go somewhere else like The Holiday Inn or Hyatt Hilton etc. We had no hot water and the TV was not connected so we struggled to make it work. The small blanket on the bed was dirty and so were the night stand. It's very outdated and there so much noise from the traffic. People were running across the hallways yelling and laughing. So be ready to not get any rest. The food is not that great and it's expensive. Other Hotels in the area offer complimentary breakfast which is way more worth it. The staff is not friendly and do not give you directions or information. WiFi sucked it was in and out all day. Bed is not comfortable and the pillows are supper flat. Very hard to get in and out the valet parking. For $100 you can pay an extra $20 or $30 and find better quality in the Zona Rio area. Will never be staying here again. read more

This place was WAY nicer than I thought, and even prettier than the pics show. I was here for a late check in and was able to get all the information I needed for the next days services from the office attendant. It was convenient she was pretty bilingual and between my tiny Spanish and her good amount of English we were able to sort everything out. The day time restaurant has a breakfast buffet, or a full menu of items you can choose from. All of which were reasonably priced, however pricey for the area. (If you are on a budget you can grab tacos for next to nothing up the street). The WIFI in the room worked fine, but once the morning came it was very difficult to keep the signal, I am assuming so many people were on it that it slowed it down. The pool area is so fabulous and the restaurant serves you outside as well! Free valet parking underground, very safe. Leaving around check out time however was a damn mess. Just the design of the building, nothing to be done with that. Last thing was it was on a major street and even on the 5th floor it was very loud with traffic in the morning. That didn't bother me as much because I needed to get up :-) I paid about $85.00 and it was close to the border and so worth it. I will definitely stay there again.
