We made a reservation for one night and 2 rooms at this hotel. We got there around 4 pm and only one room was ready, the second room was going to be ready in an hr. We went to the bar and we ordered 3 margaritas, and they served the 3rd on a Styrofoam cup, because they only had 2 glass cups. The room was stuffy and the glass on the window was broken, dirty floors, i had to use wipes to clean my feet becausethey got all dirty from the bathroom to the bed., and the comforter had holes. The shower wall disgusting too. And the ceiling was disgusting too. I think there was a leak and they didn't repair it. And you are there thinking if it will fall on you while asleep, lol. Nothing nice about this hotel. I totally agree with the other reviews. The Jr suite room was more on the clean side. But the second room, not at all!

My Apple watch last location

I'm super disappointed with Holiday Inn even though I have an HGI membership with Holiday. We always reserve their hotel especially this one when we go to TJ for more than one day. I the reason reserved this hotel was because my daughter had some doctor's appointments on Thursday morning so I reserved for 4 nights and We checked on Wednesday night. Thursday we got up early to get ready and we left the hotel at around 7:45 am because my daughter had an appointment at 8 am. While we were gone someone entered our room and stole my daughter's Apple Watch. We never leave our valuable possessions, but my daughter was so nervous about her appointment that she forgot she left it behind. My daughter didn't remember she left her watch until she came back from the clinic on Friday because she had to stay one night at the clinic. She checked her backpack and realized that the watch was missing so she checked the last location on her phone and it showed that it was in the hotel. She looked around and she moved things around the bed, she moved the bed, and also checked under the beds and still didn't find it, so we called the receptionist to make a report for a missing watch we explained to them that the last location that shows that the watch was last seen was at the hotel and it's not in the room. Also, she never takes her watch off unless too charged it or because she has to take a shower other than that, she always has it on, so they said they were going to investigate and would call you back shortly, but we never received a call every and when we would call they again to see if there was an update they will still say the same thing we will investigate and call you soon. On our last day when we were checking out, we told the receptionist helping us check out what had happened and he said that he's coworker mentioned it to him and they talked to the room attendant because she was the only one who entered the room. She said that she didn't see anything or took anything. I told him that it didn't make sense that the last location my watch showed at 8:24 am was at the hotel then it either dead or someone turned off. He said we would be on the lookout so leave our phone number. I am just putting a review because I was giving them a chance to call me but they still haven't and when I call them they still say the same thing.

Check in was a breeze. Room was clean. Had amazing complimentary orange juice for guests. My husband and I went to bar and had drinks. Strawberry Margarita and a (Capitan) Mojito, they were amazing! Staff was very friendly. Be patient with traffic but you will be happy.

Dirty sheets (blood) they don't change it. This is what I found when I made my check in.

Worst experience ever!!!!!! Check in waiting time is ridiculous around 1 hour waiting because the lack of clean rooms and when I finally got the room my sheets were dirty which means they don't change the sheets every time they had a check out. (See pictures attached). AC in the room smelly and broken. Never coming back here again.

Holiday Inn Tijuana needs to step up their game. The only reason why I gave it a two star is because the people were very nice. Several things I was very dissatisfied with: 1) dirty cleaning rag left behind in bathroom counter, 2) the small couch in the room sunk in when you sat down, 3) toilet tank kept making noise throughout, had to close bathroom door. Since it was late at night, i got up and attempted to see if I could fix noise issue in the toilet tank when I opened it I noticed a water bottle with sand inside tank which led me to believe that issue had been reported in the past. Many other issues but it's late and I want to sleep - extremely tired from driving. I highly suggest for Holiday Inn Tijuana to do a walk through each room and make necessary upgrades (adding a refrigerator in each room would also be a nice touch).

Zona Río

I am rewriting this review from a 2023 visit…read more We had this trip planned for weeks to celebrate my man's birthday in June, so our expectations were high. We booked a hotel stay for two nights. I reserved one room directly through the Lucerna website and he booked two additional rooms through Expedia. Unfortunately, both bookings were charged a night's stay in advance, even though Expedia was not supposed to charge anything until check-in. At check-in, the staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The bellman was especially kind and was going along with our jokes-- he was honestly the best part of our stay. From there, things quickly went downhill. Our key cards stopped working on several occasions, requiring multiple trips back down to the front desk to have them reactivated. The biggest issue was that the air conditioning did not work in any of the rooms. We called the front desk several times, but no one ever answered -- the phone just rang and rang. That night, we were forced to sleep with the balcony doors open, which resulted in mosquitoes and flies coming into the room. Because we couldn't reach anyone, we also weren't able to order room service. Again, the phone rang endlessly with no answer, so we ended up ordering Domino's from across the street. We spent time at the pool while the kids swam. The area itself was very nice and inviting, but the pool was dirty, with leaves and debris floating in the water. We asked a security guard if servers came out to the pool area. He initially said yes and went to call someone. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked again and he then mentioned that pool service is only available during the summer -- something that would have been helpful to know upfront. We ended up going inside the bar to order drinks and carried them back out ourselves. About 30 minutes later, staff came out to clean up the pool That same day, we followed up again about the AC. The front desk told us maintenance had already taken care of it the day before, which was not true -- no one had come and the rooms were still hot and humid. Eventually, someone did come to check both rooms, but nothing was fixed. This is supposed to be a luxury hotel, yet the experience did not reflect that at all. It is extremely overpriced for the quality of service and the number of issues we encountered across all three rooms. We paid over $250 per night, stayed for two nights and booked three rooms, only to leave feeling extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this Lucerna location. I gave it 1 star only because we made the stay fun, despite all the flaws and disappointments. And the interaction with the bellman really made a difference.

Thank you Hotel Lucerna and staff for your kindness and amazing hospitality.

Prices have doubled since coming here first. Points went from 5k to 8k- please don't up it any more :). Guest profile has changed and with it more English speaking staff. US workers in scrubs moonlighting on the weekend, patients over from US for medical procedures, catering to this new clientele has made this hotel busier and a little more pricey than before. I wonder how they will compete when the Westin opens right next door? Location is truly perfect, it's an easy drive from the U.S. made easier now with the hotel and gastronomy zone signs as you cross the San Ysidro border. The hotel offers covered, gated underground parking for your car. It feels secure and I've never had any issues or incidents (touch wood) ever. Breakfast is included with your stay and has improved over the years, not that it was ever bad, they just offer a much larger and quality selection than before and restock often, again being more busy I imagine helps with that. Staff are always great , very helpful, and bilingual. If the bar ever looks unattended it's because they often double at reception. Just look to the front desk for assistance. For a Hyatt place - it's one of the best - that's why we keep coming back, better than the San Diego counterparts. Adrian, at the breakfast station is our favorite staff member. He's always so helpful, attentive and he deserves a shout out. I would love if they made Pozole on Saturday mornings - but alas it's a Sunday morning treat. Having it on Saturday too would be the icing on the cake. Something to work on: I enjoy a late checkout and appreciate not being disturbed. Do not disturb sign on the door doesn't mean they won't knock, or try to come in. Housekeeping should observe this request, even if they are being nice and checking to see if you need more towels. If you like clean, they are obsessively clean - occasionally the chemicals bother me in the lobby but I appreciate their attention to cleanliness. Overall solid 4 star rating.
