I've stayed at the Marriott three times now. Each time has been a pleasure!
The hotel offers both self and valet parking, if you are going the self route, it's free for hotel guests and the parking garage is located about 100 yards from the hotel entrance. Valet parking is free, but don't forget to tip the driver.
The hotel is one of, if not, the, nicest hotel in the immediate area. The lobby is beautiful with a marble looking floor. There are several nice couches and chairs to relax on while you wait. Check in is a breeze. Don't worry pendejos, the front desk and (many of the rest of the hotel staff) speak fluent English. After you get your room key assigned to you, a friendly bell hop will escort you to your room along with your bags.
I have stayed in both a standard room and a golf view room. The rooms are essentially the same, and what you would expect from this hotel chain. The bathroom is big, but the sink area can be a little crowded when getting more than one person ready at a time. Directly behind the sink is a spacious closet with a safe, robes, and ironing board/iron.
The room has a small table with two chairs, and a coffee maker. The phone in room is cordless. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player so you can bring your own porn along or rent it directly from the hotel pay per view.
There is a desk with a nice cushy chair to get your work done. The hotel offers free wifi through out the property.
The mini bar is stocked only by request, but the prices are very affordable.
The bed is one of the main reasons I stay at the Marriott chain world wide. The beds are so comfortable! They remind me of my very fancy bed at home, which is a big plus in my book.
There are a few differences between the golf view and standard rooms. The standard room, is luck of the draw on your view. You might get a view of the city (like I did) or you might be facing the parking garage, or something else not so glamorous.
The golf view room, has a view of the golf course next door. When staying in the golf view room, you also get a balcony. It's small, and there aren't any chairs out there, but you can certainly take one of the chairs out of your room and on the balcony to enjoy the weather and the view.
The golf room has some other interesting perks. The room includes continental breakfast served in room, or in the restaurant every morning. The breakfast included pastries, a sashimi style fruit plate, yogurt, granola, juice, and coffee.
One piece of laundry can be sent in for free each day you stay that laundry service is available. I didn't send my chonies in, so I can't comment on this service, but it was nice to know if I was in need, they would save the day and do my laundry for free.
You also get 20% off on all purchases within the hotel, including food and alcohol. I decided to take full advantage of the 20% off booze benefit.
There is a lounge in the hotel lobby, that features - hands down - the cheesiest lounge singer you've ever seen. Seriously. He was so dramatic, sang from a karaoke machine, and wooed the ladies in the audience. Sabado Gigante has nothing on this guy.
Even if you decide to stay somewhere else when you are visiting TJ, consider coming here for Sunday Brunch. For about 300 peso, you can enjoy their unlimited champagne, made to order coctel de camaron, fruit, made to order eggs, chorizo, chiliquiles, cheviche, menudo, oysters, tamales, beans, chiles, fresh salsas, freshly made custom juices, yogurt, cereal, carne asada, a huge display of dulces, and more. I always stuff my face and leave happy, drunk, and full which is perfect when I'm sitting in that 12 hour wait at the border trying to resist buying esquites y elotes. read more
