We checked in last night and I can already happily report that I would stay here again next time I'm in Tijuana. Hotel check in was easy and the many lovely amenities were very well explained. The staff member checking us in even asked what my pronouns were! I don't get that level of kindness most of the time from anyone in Los Angeles. The room is clean and comfortable. They were even so kind as to accommodate clean mini fridge for our food items. I called two weeks ago requesting a mini fridge and it was in the notes for our reservation. They realized this after we checked in and had a bellhop, a very kind gentleman named Fernando who had helped us with our bags earlier, personally carry the whole mini fridge up to our room and install it. The hotel has complimentary WiFi that's not password protected so I made sure to keep my VPN on because I'm neurotic like that. One thing I will report is that I couldn't find a wall port to plug in an ethernet cable in the room to set up my TP-Link Travel Router. Not a big deal at all because I'm probably the only person who would try to do something like that while on vacay anyway. Long story short, this place is probably the nicest hotel my wife and I have stayed at in our 13 years together. I slept like a baby on night one, and I look forward to the rest of our stay here. Nothing but problems here for how EXPENSIVE it is per night! We paid $220 for one night after we were FORCED to stay in Tijuana due to my husband needing emergency surgery. We checked in, were told to put our breakfast menu on the doorknob by 1am, and so we did so. NO BREAKFAST came, they never even picked up the form!! INCOMPETENT!! Also, no-one answered the front desk when we continually called and called because neighbors were partying well after midnight making outrageous noises and banging. My husband needed his rest!!!! When I complained at the front desk, we were told "sorry." THAT'S IT! They asked if I wanted then to cancel my breakfast order, I said "Are you joking??? YOU cancelled it for me by NEVER picking it up and now my husband needs cream of wheat NOW". I said I would like a complimentary breakfast so the (poor excuse for a) manager said, "I can give you one complimentary breakfast." I said, "I am going in there to get my husband cream of wheat, and I am having what I put on my breakfast order since you admitted it was YOUR MISTAKE!!!" They didnt know what to do about that, so we walked in and sat down. At least our waiter, Aurtoro (or something similar) was wonderful and we ended up tipping him well. I would never stay here again. Before booking, I specifically called the hotel because I travel with my emotional support dog. I was told the hotel was pet friendly. At no point during that call--or when I checked in--did anyone ask for my ESA documentation, vaccination records, or explain any pet policy whatsoever. We also called about 30 minutes before arriving to ask if our room might be ready early. We were told yes. When we arrived, however, a short-haired female, acted as manager (or supervisor) immediately said the room wouldn't be available until 3:00 p.m. There was no apology or effort to help, just an unnecessarily rude and dismissive attitude. The most frustrating part happened at checkout. The same employee had seen my dog during our entire stay and never mentioned a single issue. Then, as we were leaving, she suddenly decided to tell me the hotel isn't pet friendly and began lecturing me about what I would need "next time." The irony is that I actually had all of the proper documentation with me. If anyone had asked at check-in, I would have gladly provided it. Instead, she waited until we were walking out the door to bring it up, making the whole conversation completely pointless. She kept talking about "next time," I finally told her there won't be a next time because I won't be staying here again. That was the only way to stop her lecturing! Being given inaccurate information is one thing. Being treated in a condescending, patronizing manner is another. No guest deserves to be spoken to like they're a child. Good customer service starts with clear communication and respect, and unfortunately, this hotel failed at both. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend Hotel Lucerna to anyone traveling. When my husband and I are in Tijuana and we need a place to spend the night. We love staying at this hotel! The hotel is clean and tidy. I love the attention to details and the rooms are always comfortable. The front desk staff are very friendly and welcoming. Especially when you've had a long day and you just want to rest. On this day we didn't have a reservation but the staff member was able to help us get a room. We were so grateful. The room we got had a king size bed, balcony with a pool view. It was beautiful! A buffet breakfast was included. We had a delicious buffet breakfast. The waitstaff were very attentive and serviceable. They made me feel so special. I am rewriting this review from a 2023 visit. We had this trip planned for weeks to celebrate my man's birthday in June, so our expectations were high. We booked a hotel stay for two nights. I reserved one room directly through the Lucerna website and he booked two additional rooms through Expedia. Unfortunately, both bookings were charged a night's stay in advance, even though Expedia was not supposed to charge anything until check-in. At check-in, the staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The bellman was especially kind and was going along with our jokes-- he was honestly the best part of our stay. From there, things quickly went downhill. Our key cards stopped working on several occasions, requiring multiple trips back down to the front desk to have them reactivated. The biggest issue was that the air conditioning did not work in any of the rooms. We called the front desk several times, but no one ever answered -- the phone just rang and rang. That night, we were forced to sleep with the balcony doors open, which resulted in mosquitoes and flies coming into the room. Because we couldn't reach anyone, we also weren't able to order room service. Again, the phone rang endlessly with no answer, so we ended up ordering Domino's from across the street. We spent time at the pool while the kids swam. The area itself was very nice and inviting, but the pool was dirty, with leaves and debris floating in the water. We asked a security guard if servers came out to the pool area. He initially said yes and went to call someone. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked again and he then mentioned that pool service is only available during the summer -- something that would have been helpful to know upfront. We ended up going inside the bar to order drinks and carried them back out ourselves. About 30 minutes later, staff came out to clean up the pool That same day, we followed up again about the AC. The front desk told us maintenance had already taken care of it the day before, which was not true -- no one had come and the rooms were still hot and humid. Eventually, someone did come to check both rooms, but nothing was fixed. This is supposed to be a luxury hotel, yet the experience did not reflect that at all. It is extremely overpriced for the quality of service and the number of issues we encountered across all three rooms. We paid over $250 per night, stayed for two nights and booked three rooms, only to leave feeling extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this Lucerna location. I gave it 1 star only because we made the stay fun, despite all the flaws and disappointments. And the interaction with the bellman really made a difference. read more

My daughter had surgery and I wanted a private Limo or car service back to the San Diego airport in an SUV. The concierge set me up with a car company for $160 one way. The driver showed up in his personal small 4 door sedan. This was not a driving service, rather the concierge's friend named Israel. We needed a SUV that was high from the ground. Every bump hurt her incisions. We were taken advantage of by having a "friend" pick us up rather than a limo service. Terrible. The main floor restaurants manager was wonderful as the young daytime female at the front desk and a young gentlemen as well was very nice. The courtyard is shared by the K-Tower hotel. The pool area is beautiful. This hotel is in Zona Rio and about 8 mins from the Tijuana airport. *Employees/Staff: very friendly. Will find someone to speak English if they don't understand you or you don't understand them. Shoutout to Oumar, one of the men working at the front. *Rooms: American standard. Awesome balcony. Good shower pressure. Comfortable bed and good TV service. There are complimentary bottled water in each room. There is a safe in each room that works great! * Breakfast and Brunch: pay the extra to have breakfast (or Sunday brunch if you're there on a Sunday). Every description of fruit, tasty fresh juices, excellent coffee, an omlete and egg station, pancake/waffle station, prepared eggs, chips, salsas, menudo, fresh hot chocolate, all descriptions of pork, beef and chicken. On Sundays, there is a chef that prepares fresh fajitas and grilled meats poolside. Price: We paid what we would pay at any nice hotel in the US. I'm staying at the hotel several nights, so I decided to spend the extra $$ and get my laundry sent out to get cleaned. I'm going to be traveling for several months as it is. Got my laundry back with NO LAUNDRY BAG !!!! I was furious, I went down to the front desk to voice my frustration. With it being on a Saturday, they said they couldn't do anything until Monday when the laundrette opened again....but by then I'll be out of the country . I spent the night in the hotel because it appears to be a top rated hotel and safe for my work truck wich was my top concern there is a guard tower with parking lot attendants. That night the door lock was broke along with the console to start luckily i installed a cut off switch for these situations i could have lost a 75,000 dollar truck. I reported it to the hotel with no concern told me to call the police they are not responsible and they know someone can fix it but i would have to pay. True story... Now, since by looking at me, a black woman, someone who was there for surgery not fun. I might have not looked my best but I surely didn't look like I was a homeless person walking in after winning the lottery that day. Here's what I honestly think... We serve white people everyday. It's normal. We accept that there are some white people who can afford certain things and do and cwe service them and make money off theit wants. NOT for a black personal. it's more so; how are they affording this? Are they going to scam us somehow? Will they be loud and disturb the other paytrons? I mean, we don't want our establishment, where we cater to whites, to be perceived that her being here is the norm. A quick blurb; I help Latinis in the US everyday. I will hite individuals whose English isn't the best, even when I get push back BECAUSE THEY NEED TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES TOO. I'm a hardcore advocate for people to understand their plight. So for them to spit in my mouth has me thinking I need to start focusing on other causes. After being treated like I was on the run with Harriet Tubman I locked my card . They are issuing me another card; however I do owe the hotel money because now neither charge has gone through. After speaking with the cc company. I told them I'd talk to the hotel and call back. The staff knew who I was when I called. Can you imagine, your skin color alone making you famous? llol I was refused to speak with anyone, until I delivered my message that ther they are not being paid until it's resolved. LOW AND BEHOND I FINALLY GOT A MANAGER!!! Her responde was " we just charged you for you 4th night. We forgot when you checked in." . I MEAN, I really think they think I probably can't add. I let them know I run million dollars assets; from the financials down to customer service. I didn't add that they are racist because they definitely were to me. I think they all must be drinking dumb water I'm far more likely to treat them respectfully than the " normal" people they normally deal with . So, here's to Racist Hotel Lucerne, the hotel that didn't think I should be there, but would then turn around and steel from me. You are TERRIBLE. This is how you treated me. You can have a a10000 positive reviews but I know how you treated me!; 497 peses for a drink. lol A $260 up charge for day that was already paid for? Btw- the dentist called you and got the rate so they know what the offered rate was as well. Here's the irony and what's so typical of situations like these. Had brunch at Hotel Lucerna today...everything was amazing!! Service: Vanessa [server/mesera] tended to all our food needs. She ensured our coffees, mimosas, and waters were constantly full, she reminded us of the tacos and happily brought out many to try. Gracias Vanessa, tu servicio fue divino! Food: As previous Las Vegas residents, we know what a seafood buffet is, this is certainly a Mexican seafood buffet, highly recommend! Other than the seafood options, everything was delectable, perfectly seasoned, and just the right temp. This is the hotel in which my girlfriend and I decided to stay for our New Year's vacation. I was drawn to this hotel because of a previous experience staying in K Tower, which is another great option found within Hotel Lucerna's property. I made the reservation online, and we were checked in with no problems. We got a room with a good view, facing the pool in the center of the courtyard. The room was comfortable, sizable, and clean. The amenities were great, including the room service. The food from room service was very delicious, coming in sizable portions, and leaving me satisfied after every meal. The staff was friendly, courteous, and very attentive. The hotel is conveniently located in Zona Rio, in a nice enclave in Tijuana. There were plenty of options for food, shopping, and services. The border crossing lay less than ten minutes away, which was great because I had to cross into San Diego halfway through my vacation due to a broken cell phone. But that's a story for another review. The restaurant located in the ground floor is the same place that makes the food for room service. The bell staff is on point, ready to help you with our bags. Tip them well, they're great people. The courtyard is beautiful, and it is the access point for K Tower. There is also a restaurant accessed here, Rivoli's. I had less-than stellar comments for that place. That will come in a future review. Overall, we were satisfied with out stay here. The place is comfortable and well-run. The price is right, as is the ambient. Come give this place a try. Let's keep Lucerna classy! read more

Loved the stay here even though it was for two nights. The entire place is incredibly new and beautiful, it is like you are staying at a luxurious hotel. Everything is up to date and the staff are just so amazing and hospitable. Reason for my 5 stars is because of the front desk host Jessica. She was amazing and so accommodating. She even took her time to show me the suites that were available for upgrade. She gave us the best time to leave when crossing the border and gave us really nice recommendations to go eat. The rooftop bar lounge was definitely a big plus! A must go to place and the view is beautiful. You can tell it gets lively there with the pool and hot tub. The hotel is only for looks. We stayed in room 612 and let me tell you the mattress was horrible, we accidentally pull the blankets and yellow stains all over. We were having dental work done at Dental Alvarez, and supposedly they have a contract with the Lucerna. But I quickly found out that they don't give any special rate and it was cheaper on any travel site. I happen to be a a travel agent, so was able to get s better rate than on the internet. So all a travel agent to book for you if you stay here. The hotel is nice, the staff are great, 24 hour room service may take you several tries to reach them, but they finally answered after 3 calls and letting it ring. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked great. They don't have any amenities in the room such as a coffee maker, refrigerator or microwave. But a small or large pot of coffee in the morning comes fast. The pool is really pretty, but not heated. It's raspy too bad as it will need to be in the heat odd summer to be comfortable. We were there in May. It was warm, but the pool was very cold. There are several restaurants on the premises. Acueducto has a morning buffet for $30 each. The K Tower Hotel is attached and is the Lucerna upscale hotel. They will let you in the elevator to go up to the nice rooftop sushi bar, lounge or another restaurant we didn't go to. We are at the sushi bar the first night and it was really a relaxing, pretty view. It's next to the rooftop pool and hot tub. . We also are one night at Rivoli, a fine dining restaurant on the premises. Great food at all three restaurants. Other than the lack of communication when I tried to call and also message the hotel about rates, and the disappointment that they did not honor a special rate that was told to me for the dental office, our stay was very nice. We will probably stay at the Grand Hotel again next time as they have a heated pool and hot tub on the roof, great restaurants, casino and a little shopping mall attached. read more

This place is gorgeous! We stayed here for a week in August because we visited Mexico for a festival in Rosarito. The service is A1 I was somewhat nervous because of some of the reviews I saw online but we had 0 issues. Check in was quick and you do not have to leave a card on file unless you decide to do so for rooms service and addons. Otherwise than that you can go down and purchase stuff at the bar. Our room was nice/clean and we got a balcony but I think all the rooms had balconies but we had a nice view. The housekeepers were so sweet and our room was always spotless and restocked when we came back. We spent a lot of time at the downstairs and the manager and bartender were so nice. From giving us recommendations from where to eat, how to get around, calling us cabs, recommending drinks and just so nice and struck up conversation easily. Room service was awesome the restaurants close late so I was able to call in an order and when we got to the hotel it would be ready in our room. Also there is a total of 3 restaurants on the property so you have options and don't even have to leave the hotel! Although it's a gorgeous area so I would recommend walking around! Saturday and Sunday they have brunch and it includes bottomless mimosas! Overall we absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Lucerna and will most definitely be booking again! read more

This is my third stay here and my last . I don't know why people in hotel business operate a fligh hotel and comend high prices for a sub par service . The checking was something left to desired . No upgrades were offered and terrible attitude by front desk. Not a great start for a 4 star hotel. I was placed in the main tower on third floor upon walking out of elevator there is a big stain on the carpet . . My room looked ok upon further examination I found hair from the previous guest not a good then the I looked up at the A/C vent and noticed the filter has not been replaced for sometime ,not a good thing during Covid 19 season in all this hotel need a deep cleaning . In just a regular person the is not fussy but if I was running this place the mainaince is number one priority along with a quality staff. Nothing is as promise under your reservation. Our room was ready until after 4 pm. We asked for early check in. The first words out of the employees in the front are NO and let me tell you why we can't do it. I had reserved their super deluxe room and ended up getting a regular room and was told that was all they have ( for the same amount of money - no discount), reservation was made 2 months in advance because we were attending a wedding at the hotel. Last, breakfast was supposed to be included, but it was NOT and again no discount or no apologies from the staff.
