This hotel is very nice it's an American style hotel with lots of rooms and parking underneath. The people working there are very nice and very professional. The rooms are very nice and clean with killer views and they also have 24 hour room service . I think this might be the best hotel in all of Tijuana . I will definitely stay here again.

Rust/mold

There was nothing "Grand" about this hotel. First off 3 times during my 5 night stay I was left 1 or no towels. Hot water never worked. There was no fridge in my room and all others we went with had a fridge. We had two separate reservations with same room type and instead of keeping same room were asked to checkout, take all our luggage and recheck-in even though we were given same exact room! There was what appeared to be rust/mold in bathroom. The shower ceiling was leaking. Also, it just felt like the staff was watching us every second. My kids were having a snack at an open table in the lobby and we were told they could not each in the lobby. Every two second my kids were being told they are being too loud, when they were clearly not. The hotel recommended a taxi which charge 3 times the going rate. Overall horrible experience!

CASINO!!! Had no problem with the hotel. Food was good, location was fine. However stay very clear of the casino. Once you walk through the door english, understanding, sign language etc become nonexistent. Dumped quite a bit of money trying to burn some time. Ended up with $8950. 4 people showed me how to switch the machine to show dollars or pesos. The machine takes american money via card. Ask the attendant, yes thats correct. Before i cash out, is this correct? 182,000 pesos or 8950 dollars yes thats right. Oh but they dont understand or speak English anymore when you want to cashout. Took pictures of both on the machine before cashing out. No comprende. Use a english to Spanish translator on the phone...head shaking, walk away. Manager? Gerente? El director? No comprende. Keep trying to scam me into taking 440 dollars. Ask the membership desk, no, hotel desk, no. Concierge that was so helpful when tipping him. Uh no we cant get involved with that. You should try again tomorrow but you are probably screwed. Yep same deal the next day. Nice freaking criminal con game racquet. Had to check out and get back to san diego. Spent most of my stay fighting that bs.

Let me start off by saying : I got the best massage here !!! Paid $100 USD CASH for 1hr massage. Thank you Edith I got a pedicure, manicure and hair cut for $40 total I took a free tour to the down town area that was fun Hotel is beautifully decorated for Dia De Los Muertos and also has an Art Gallery on level C Hotel has several restaurants, Emma, Plaza C, 4500 bar Salons, convenient store, roof top pool, jacuzzi, several bars, valet parking and an underground parking garage, 24 hour gym. Food is GOOD HERE (separate reviews for the restaurants) Most employees are nice and courteous. Unfortunately there where some unpleasant room service employees I read the directions for laundry.... I called at 7 am to let them know I had a bag ready They told me to leave it outside of the door, I did And NO ONE CAME TO PICK IT UP!!!! Major wompers super disappointed I woke up early for nothing !! Room has a refrigerator and a safe (fridge had a hair in it) Water runs hot, beds are hard Not too comfy TV has HBO and Netflix and many English channels Casino: you need to go through a metal detector to enter No photos allowed Tons of security, need to show your ID they scan it ... You cannot eat or drink any outside food/beverages in the lobby. For example if you have a Starbucks & a pastry you cannot eat it in the lobby You need to go to your room and eat it or go outside the Hotel & finish it We were approached by security and told "cameras" can see us eating/drinking outside food Hotel plays music and most of the time the music is way too loud Sometimes they played English oldies sometimes it was Mexican music. It varies This hotel/Casino is close to a nice outside mall and across the street is another good well known restaurant

$135 USD for basically no air conditioning. I've had it "on" for hours and it's still over 72 Fahrenheit in my room. It's stuffy and uncomfortable as hell. I can't justify staying here again...

Love this spot for the price and the staff. Always trying to go the extra mile . Easy access from the boarder and TJ airport

Bites on arm

It's a decent place but BEWARE of the bed bugs! I didn't realize what was happening at first because I had no encounters with any bugs outside. Had to throw away luggage and strip down to my underwear before entering my house to shower immediately.

I am rewriting this review from a 2023 visit…read more We had this trip planned for weeks to celebrate my man's birthday in June, so our expectations were high. We booked a hotel stay for two nights. I reserved one room directly through the Lucerna website and he booked two additional rooms through Expedia. Unfortunately, both bookings were charged a night's stay in advance, even though Expedia was not supposed to charge anything until check-in. At check-in, the staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The bellman was especially kind and was going along with our jokes-- he was honestly the best part of our stay. From there, things quickly went downhill. Our key cards stopped working on several occasions, requiring multiple trips back down to the front desk to have them reactivated. The biggest issue was that the air conditioning did not work in any of the rooms. We called the front desk several times, but no one ever answered -- the phone just rang and rang. That night, we were forced to sleep with the balcony doors open, which resulted in mosquitoes and flies coming into the room. Because we couldn't reach anyone, we also weren't able to order room service. Again, the phone rang endlessly with no answer, so we ended up ordering Domino's from across the street. We spent time at the pool while the kids swam. The area itself was very nice and inviting, but the pool was dirty, with leaves and debris floating in the water. We asked a security guard if servers came out to the pool area. He initially said yes and went to call someone. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked again and he then mentioned that pool service is only available during the summer -- something that would have been helpful to know upfront. We ended up going inside the bar to order drinks and carried them back out ourselves. About 30 minutes later, staff came out to clean up the pool That same day, we followed up again about the AC. The front desk told us maintenance had already taken care of it the day before, which was not true -- no one had come and the rooms were still hot and humid. Eventually, someone did come to check both rooms, but nothing was fixed. This is supposed to be a luxury hotel, yet the experience did not reflect that at all. It is extremely overpriced for the quality of service and the number of issues we encountered across all three rooms. We paid over $250 per night, stayed for two nights and booked three rooms, only to leave feeling extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this Lucerna location. I gave it 1 star only because we made the stay fun, despite all the flaws and disappointments. And the interaction with the bellman really made a difference.

On this day we didn't have a reservation but the staff member was able to help us get a room. We were so grateful. The room we got had a king size bed, balcony with a pool view. It was beautiful! A buffet breakfast was included. We had a delicious buffet breakfast. The waitstaff were very attentive and serviceable. They made me feel so special. Thank you Hotel Lucerna and staff for your kindness and amazing hospitality.

The staff is super and can guide you if this is your first time to Tijuana. I love the place to eat here. It is just the best. They have traditional Mexican food which is outstanding and they also have great American food. We love their pancakes and eggs. Their tacos are great as is any fish dish. They have bottled water in the room, which is a must. Do not drink tap water anywhere in Tijuana. The location is great. It is within easy walking to many fun spots, including shopping. Prices have doubled since coming here first. Points went from 5k to 8k- please don't up it any more :). Guest profile has changed and with it more English speaking staff. US workers in scrubs moonlighting on the weekend, patients over from US for medical procedures, catering to this new clientele has made this hotel busier and a little more pricey than before. I wonder how they will compete when the Westin opens right next door? Location is truly perfect, it's an easy drive from the U.S. made easier now with the hotel and gastronomy zone signs as you cross the San Ysidro border. The hotel offers covered, gated underground parking for your car. It feels secure and I've never had any issues or incidents (touch wood) ever. Breakfast is included with your stay and has improved over the years, not that it was ever bad, they just offer a much larger and quality selection than before and restock often, again being more busy I imagine helps with that. Staff are always great , very helpful, and bilingual. If the bar ever looks unattended it's because they often double at reception. Just look to the front desk for assistance. For a Hyatt place - it's one of the best - that's why we keep coming back, better than the San Diego counterparts. Adrian, at the breakfast station is our favorite staff member. He's always so helpful, attentive and he deserves a shout out. I would love if they made Pozole on Saturday mornings - but alas it's a Sunday morning treat. Having it on Saturday too would be the icing on the cake. Something to work on: I enjoy a late checkout and appreciate not being disturbed. Do not disturb sign on the door doesn't mean they won't knock, or try to come in. Housekeeping should observe this request, even if they are being nice and checking to see if you need more towels. If you like clean, they are obsessively clean - occasionally the chemicals bother me in the lobby but I appreciate their attention to cleanliness. Overall solid 4 star rating.
